"Why don't you check all those sites up there that have IR's songs and you will see the number of same songs. This sounds like making fun to you? "
Counter - All sites which post "Olden Hits" 've the number of same songs - does this mean that olden hits were minimal?!
Kayila irukka patta thaan upload panna mudiyum.IR's olden hit albums are now difficult to get in a shop. Maybe that could also be the reason for our fellow TFMers not able to post different numbers of IR's hit songs.

Does anyone know for sure that 'Hey Ram' has released. The review in IR's thread doesn't list some of the singers that the HR site talks about. The cassette was supposed to release on the seventh. But I am not sure. Does anyone know?

Aruvi
One more thing I got to accept… out of 4000+ there are 25% of songs which have gone un-noticed!! That’s why there is very limited no. of HIT/POPULAR songs! Even in 80's too!
If we had same media (Cable TVs/ Top 10's /Computer /FM / Graphics), we could have got more HIT/POPULAR songs of IR! That time u had only option of All India Radio, whatever records they buy/have, we got listen to them repeatedly!!
Now-a-days, directors are araiching the same aracha maavu in TFM! So fan's view have turned towards music!! That was not the case when KB, BR, Mahendran, BM, Sridhar, KS were ruling except SPM! and AVM, Sathya Movies, Motherland Movies were giving really good films!
Hunt for IR's old songs…. u will get surprised Nos.!
Well said Paamaran! Kayila irukka patta thaan upload panna mudiyum ! OVS Thiruvaasagam!!

Aruviji, you are not getting any award. I only said you have missed it!-))
Anyways, I agree that "SHARED FAVOURITES" seem to be less in number. But the best explanation for that is given by visiri regarding the comparison between the media of today and past. As he said most of the people's listening choice was at the discretion of AIR. (slight digression: i heard there was even a song that was banned by A.I.R. can somebody remember what that was?) Most of the songs were heard in passing reference from radio at home, teastalls and those wonderful recording shops. Don't you think that limited access can be a reason? Many a times I have talked about songs to my friends who dont recognise them but then when I play the same they can instantly remember hearing it once upon a time and liking it.
Number of "Familiar" songs might therefore SEEM limited in number. But it is really a wonderful experience to look into those huge volumes in recording shops trying to make collections and finding those "manjal veyil"s which we love but haven't really had access to as much as the "andhi mazhai"s!
Your thoughts however, are true to the present, when one's "personal" likes are"conditioned" by the media. They are at your face all the time, so better like them!

heyram website list has only Kavitha krishnamurthi's name that is left out in the list of the songs in the review page. Confusion might be due to the bilingual versions. D.K.Pattammal missing is konjam idichifying though! esp after that praise for her efforts in the website.

i think so, b'cos there isn't anything called obscenity in music. even if it is there i hav'nt heard music being cut for being obscene or for any other reason.

Because Kamal wanted the film to be censored before 31st Dec so that it will be counted as a film of 99 for any awards, he filled the BGM tracks with the old stock of BGM from old works and prepared a single copy for this purpose.
Once the fresh BGM tracks are ready then they have to do the mixing and all other works all over again and prepare a fresh first copy. This is a costly way to do things. But this is some thing not unusual in the industry.

I was thinking. IR-Fazil combination-la vantha

Are you sure about this? I have been listening to
'rOjA poonthOttam' from this morning continuously.
Still not getting tired of it and also came to
know that the album is selling like hot cake in

The following is the excerpts from the L.Subramanian interview in Rediff:
"What about films?
I have never been enamoured by films. I did score the background music for Salaam Bombay and Mississippi Masala. I am happy in my
own musical arena."
Which side are u guys in?
But you were to do He Ram! What went wrong there?
Kamal Hassan approached me and I thought I would do the score. We were to even use an Australian orchestra in one sequence. Not being
conversant with the film industry, I did not discuss money and thought
he would pay me a fair sum. Instead, he offered me a very low amount and then spread a lot of canards about me, which hurt me more. The
figure he claimed I was asking for was a figment of his imagination. He even implied that I wanted it deposited in my sons' bank account when
they -- as eight-year-old and 11-year-old kids -- do not even want a bank account!
He also wanted me to get Ben Kingsley for the brief role of Mahatma Gandhi, since one of my close friends is also close to Ben. I did try on
his behalf. I also got him a specific shloka he needed by consulting the Sankaracharya. The next thing I knew is that he has given a statement
that Sankaracharya is making an appearance in his film! How can he demean a person of that stature this way?
Ilayaraja has re-done your four songs...
It's fine by me. Ilayaraja has learnt his ropes form my father. He was the composer of Kamal Hassan's Marudanayagam -- I gave him respect by turning down Kamal Hassan's offer to score the background music for its international version. But Ilayaraja has stepped in even without
intimating me. It's okay.
