Krishna, Krishna is a fantastic composition by Karthik Raja for the film Dumm, Dumm, Dumm. In my opinion the only party song that is fantastic and has universal appeal! None of ARR song come close to this level of crossover appeal that KR has achieved by this song. (To some extent we are seeing more internationally enjoyable songs recently - Harris Jayaraj has also probably got one in Gulmohar Malare and in a coupel of Minnale songs, YSR also has one in Nee Illai Eendral, but i am leading u away from the point.) Has anyone thoroughly listened to the Krishna, Krishna song to see that it had the potential to become a sensation as the "Macarena" number? Do you think Krishna, Krishna should've been marketed internationally as a beach party number? I wish, because this song alone could've brought amazing response for more Indian music. In other words, more boost to the neglected superlative of Karthik Raja. One thing you note about the number is the amazing flow of the song, the melody and the unique rhythm (the sound of that percussion is so right!)

KRs music never depended on his fathers name .It even is so independed and never sounded similar to IR way of presentation . Right from the first movie its alway his music that is bringing him a good identity."IR'S SON " is the initial introduction . But surely that never was his resume to the film offers . maybe it is resume for YSR sometimes ....

Kiran, appreciate that. you speak exactly what i want to say generallya bout KR. This guy is so way up there, there is intellectual dimension plus something suave (good eg. grahan - Kahate Hei jisko as pointed out) and very distinct melodies and rhythm and not influenced by his father. Definitely KR is miles ahead of AR, but lack that pop appeal that ARR brings to his songs. Again, all dues to ARR, those really sublime tunes like Ennavale; Netru Illada matram and few other spectacular songs, KR has that side of it not taken care of.

>>Is that in the rule book? whynot sir. what logic is this whynot sir? whynot why not KR go international simultaneously when it happens just like that? why not, whynot? what is this i say?<<
There's no need for a rulebook for those who have common sense.
and what wud u define as "international standards" anyway, International Krishna?

Karthick
try this, get hold of movie Miss Congeniality.
"She is lady" song is used for some key places in this movies. It also comes at the end.
Basically KR got hold of bunch of Tom jones songs and created "KrishnaKrishna" , in a nutshell this song is a copy + inspiration. KR should not do this.

I hrd Easy Lover and She's a lady. There is hardly any trace of these two in Krishna krishna. So as of now the verdict is that KR is innocent. No copying done here.
At the max you can say that the song is in the genre of songs from Tom Jones. No direct copying or even inspiration out here!

thanks Kiran. YSR more popular than KR.
btw, I am hearing Krishna Krsna song now for the last few days quite nons-stop. i have tehe cd, but i am also checkin out the quality of the songs on the site. www.tamilmega.net has got the best quality followed by raaga.com. dhool does not have it. musicindiaonline.com has it but quality not good. (this site is the best yet for annai oru aalayam song unedited. (there are two names, one got all the undedited versions of the songs).
For those not yet listnd to the song, just hear it you'll get hooked the first time itself, those who could not like it, remove the bias and go again, you can't help admiring the TOTAL SYMMETRY of the song. I have not heard this completenes, symmetry so in a song other than that consummate number called: Music to Watch Girls Go By (incidentally a coke ad that became a legendary song in a hit hollywood film in the 60s)!

Interesting to find that there are a few like minded people.
In my humble opinion Seamless Melody and integral/intricate Compositions are the non-ephemeral aspects of music, which is the approach that IR took and KR is taking.
Unfortunately TFM is in such shambles now, that none of the so called "Composers" have any clue what they are doing or where they stand. After IR, I feel KR is the only one with a classy taste for melody and composition. You have to listen very carefully to follow the different layers of instruments in any IR song to apprecaite his great composing ability. KR's songs though not that intricate has similair structure, many layers and different hues in each song, if not today ( though I feel he is starting to get his recognition) he will stand out in time.
>But unfortunaltely he has less music stamena
>compared to AR.So he can be like a guest king of
>tamil music .
Kiran though I agree with most of your views, I donot agree with the above statement. His potential is overshadowed by the unpublicized/banal movie directors he works with.
Even though different songs have been discussed, in my opinion the songs below are unnoticed gems. Nothing but pure melody, simply mesmerizing.
Nacho Jaise (Grahan) - simply mind blowing
Oru Palaivanathai - a short and sweet melody
Uyirae En Uyirae - Pure and simple melody ...notice the piano which accompanies, which takes its own path later.
Love
Nanban

Krishna Krishna is a Xerox copy of a song from "Pandian" movie [Music: IR]. I remember, KR was also introduced to MD a song.

What's all the fuss about??
U say KR can achieve international popularity just by 1 song...
ARR cant even come close,eh?
For ur info, ARR does not need 1 particular single to get intnl acclaim, each and every album of his is popular abroad. Andrew lloyd Webber, an "internationlly famous" person got to work with ARR (ok, its the otherway round).. MJ, kaekanama? he is so damn famous, and now there's goin to be Ekam Sathyam......
OK, if u want singles to be "internationally famous", why not think about chaiyya chaiyya?
It was famous right from mumbai to california to dubai to Timbuctoo...
And he is not a son of any famous guy, let alone famous md, to hook on to ;-).....
so please get a grip on urself...
and if a person hears a song umpteen times everyday for a few days, u will tend to love that song even if it is a local "gaana pattu"....
so y dont weall popularise kathadikuthu kathadikuthu or a King da song??
All the best!
