He also substantiated his point by giving the example of learning a, aa, e, eee..., that was good, I haven't seen him talk this much, anyway, I was surprised to see Deva sir attend the show and praise his efforts.
I hope he gets his due respect from the masses after this movie.

I also saw Vairamuthu standing in the background in one of the interviews.
He sure saw the trailer but they did not interview him.

Muguam title score!...lifted from
"Pastorale" by Igor Stravinksy.
He lifted the chord progressions and managed to built an Indian melody on top of it.
you too raja. --- yawn!.....so what next?

Even without watching the interview , just reading all the HCIRF words (or should i say lost for words) moves me and appadiye pullarikkuthu.
Not just as an HCIRF, I hope this genius makes his share of contribution to the world of Great music as wished by him.
My only concern , is that with millions of IR fans like us, around the globe not able to do anything for this man to be able to put him into the centre stage of the world. Or is it he who is not making an effort.
I have no idea..like myself and friends here had an argument that John williams will surely be knowing of IR...I really doubt it....I wonder what have we done as fans to expose him ...I know numerous threads have talked about this.
I am also amazed that not one of the fans in this group actually have direct contact with IR.
I just hope that all our dreams start coming true starting now.....
Overwhelmed
Another HCIRF

Looks like Raja is finally getting (a miniscule share of) his due from Hindi cinema critics. I have read about 5-6 reviews of the album, and almost all of them are complimentary. Hopefully, he will land a few high-calibre, good-company movies. The millenium has begun well for the master.

It seems that Sharuk Khan's own movie is the reason for the delay for the release of HEY RAM!

A big thank you to SK.
What a talk by IR !!! Especially the plug for speaking in Tamil. The man shows his humanity !!!
I liked the explanation for not using synthesised music. I hope people appreciate the music of the movie and encourage the Maestro to follow this path !!
Even though he makes it a point to talk about his speed of composing :) I am in awe of this great man !! We should all be proud that our maN has produced a son like this !!
Everybody's got to listen to this interview.

"The great music director Ilayaraja, living up to his name, renders a brilliant performance in xxxx song of HR...."
thus goes the review in the bollywood site mentioned above..looks like IR already has a name in the north to `live up to':-)

Folks,
The same site that pg has referred to,has a very good review of Kannukkul Nilavu and the cinema seythigal section is more of a gossip and may not be exact(about the movie being a flop).Even Rediff has very good words to day about the movie. It looks like Tirunelveli is a big success.Kadhal Rojave's songs have been appreciated a lot.

If Kannukkul Nilavu, it is not the fault of Maestro. It is for Vijay to worry about. Yeah, I understand that if the movie is a failure the efforts of Maestro goes waste. Thats the fate of the album. Movie may be failure because of the slow story. I am not sure whether it is failure. Believe me, 2000 is very good year for Maestro.
Take my words. Sethu will get national awards for music, acting and direction.

Who said KN is a flop? The film runs 4 shows for nearly 2 weeks wherever it has been screened..even in Palakkad..(too good for a TF) & also in 2 theares at Coimbatore...
If it's such a flop as pictured in aaraamthinai, no one will run 4 shows till the third week...
The songs are a mega hit! I even hear these songs in Malayali households!

Visiri:
The comment made about the Gandhiji shooting is
very right. They showed that in the SUN TV
program also. They show Gandhiji being thrown
for about 10 feet.. looked typical 'commercial
movie-ish'. The scene made in the movie, 'Gandhi',
was very natural, on the other hand. I also
felt that all that kissing that Kamal does in
'nee pArththa' song and related 'close' scenes
were completely unnecessary for such a movie..
Of course Kamal loves to overdo such things.

- From: ¶Visiri (@ bonobo.tesserae.com)

SK
Thats true! Kamal wants to make it as commercial as possible! Yellaam dabbu thaan! Moreover he wants this movie to reach very well! Though he argues that the type of revolver used then would result that kind of thrust, I feel he can show that perfectness in all other aspects too. Yethu yeppadiyo IR has done his part well! Namakku athu podhum! Kamal, when is the next movie?

Folks,
Did you read rediff's comments about Hey Ram in the music section? It sounds as though reluctantly they are praising this album("Ilayaraja scores for Kamal Haasan's magnum opus. The music is, as expected, good, though at times, it tends to overpower the vocals.").
For ARR's albums(nursery rhymes !),they write things like eventhough the movie is a flop, the album is great.I think if they find Hey Ram's music to be overpowering the vocals,in ARR's music hardly any vocals can be heard.
Iam wondering whether ARR has a clout in the rediff music section just like D.S.Ramanujam was ensuring that all Deva's albums get lavish praises in Hindu before being fired sometime back.
