IR's new albums!

  Oru Naal Oru Kanavu -- Great !! Especially the nathiyoram interlude.. I am sure this is gonna be a big hit .

  Oru Naal Oru Kanavu
  Soothing melody. Minimal use of instruments and excellent guitar arrangements. Please Mr.IR, give me more guitar movements like this. The only thing I hated was the use of synth in the first interlude. Had it been a solo violin, it would have reached heights. Also the use of synth voilin in the second interlude. Summing up, quite a different tune. Can someone tell me what raga this song is based on?
  
  Nilavu Paatu
  I just don't understand why the songs has a totally un-correlated starting. But quite a diferent song from IR. I felt the bass should have been high in the song. I don't expect natural instruments for this song. Again the synt bit in thesecond interlude made me irk.
  
  Roja Poonthottam
  A nice medium paced duet. I just loved the interludes (the guitar in the first one) in this song. Felt the bass should have been higher. But a nice and a diff song from/for IR. I hope this will be a chart finder. Extensive use of guitar and he's once again proved he's the best in guitar ever in TFM. After a couple of hearings my feet started tapping.

  Quite an ordinary song. Nothing more to write. Disappointed to see SPB used for a song like this.

  My pick in the album. Man this is excatly what I want from IR. Esp the violin interludes and progressions. It just soothes my nerves. This song will with no doubt enter my personal fav's for 2000. Can someone tell me what raga this song is based on?
  
  Iravu Palgalai Theda
  Agian a song with minimal use of instruments but for the interludes. Felt natural instruments should be used for the interludes. This song reminded me of "Nalladhoor venai" from Marupadiyum. Nice song.
  
  Overall this album will 9should) make it high in TFM as a melody rich album. Definitely its not a buy for fast paced song lovers. But melody lover's, trust me, U can buy this album right of way. I'm going to get this album today.

  Thanx swami for the much expected upload.
  Initially i thought the album din't have a chartbuster as suggestred by many. But now i have listened to "oru naal oru kanavu" some 4 times. I'm sure it will be a chartbuster. I get this feelin whenver i listen to KJY solo version.

  oru nAL orU kanavu is very good. With the continuous bass and guitar backing enhancing the ambience of the song.
  I think I am not alone clamoring for real instruments in IRs new albums. It does not go with IRs tunes. Also, IR should not force himself to use the drum machines. There are good microphones and recording setups for real drums themselves. If he is more comfortable with that (I think he is so) then he should do that. (Watch 'virasat' - hindi dEvar magan to see what difference natural drums and instruments make. Anu Malik has used two tunes from the tamil version with electronic insturments for the hindi version)
  
  Though there are lots of electronic instruments in this movie, it is not harsh or bright like in other songs. RA mentions that Yuvan did the stereo mixing for this movie. I think he has done a good job. This is where people like ARR do their tricks, I guess. Adding spatial effects, applying filters etc on their computer sound editing software. Looks like Yuvan also has done something like that, I suspect atleast he has done spatial effects. In contrast, if you have heard nilavE mugam kattu and kAdhalar dhinam sound like mono because the digital sources have been just to the two channels equally without bothering to create an artificial soundstage atleast.
  
  This movie I would say is an improvement in IRs recent albums atleast in arrangement using electronic instruments, sound engineering etc if not for the melody/music (on which I am less competent to comment about).

  Just finished a dose of Roja Poovananm and Oru Naal Oru Kanavu ( KJY Solo )... Just amazing man.
  Fazil does it again guys.. bringing just the best out of IR.
