  I'd have now heard "Kanna Unnai Thedugiren" a dozen times, and marvel each time as how IR has smoothly adjusted to the demands of time.
  "Oorurangum Nerathil" is destined to be another 'popular' Hariharan hit (not that I like his singing much; in fact, I find IR's version of the same song better, atleast to the extent that he doesn't swallow words like our HH does).
  Stand-outs are the two foot-tapping duets "Vanchikkodi" (HH, Bhava) and "Koyil Mani Kaettene" (Unnikrishnan, Swarnalatha). Though the percussion is a trifle annoying for a HCIRF not inclined to synthetic stuff, these excellent melodies grow on you steadily, making you reach for the rewind button again and again... Both showcase IR's trademark humming towards the end of the songs; the former song would've been better if it were not for Bhava whose voice again sounds too feeble... The other two songs "Konjum Kuyilpaattu" and "Raasathi" are light folk songs that sound easy on the ear; IMO Anuradha Sriram seems to be tense when she sings for IR, Harini gets it better...
  
  On the whole, another enjoyable album from IR. I assume this movie is a remake of the Malayalam superhit "Sallaapam" (which again had beautiful songs; Ravindran??). If this movie is even half as well made as the original, then IR's efforts will not go waste.. After a gap, a cassette cover with IR as the main focus; with a newcomer hero and an out-of-form Suvalakshmi starring, if this movie becomes a hit, IR will take quite a bit of credit...hoping...

  I was surprised earlier by the running down of Sethu; the soundtrack reminded me of "Guna" which also many people didn't like until they saw the movie.. I'm glad you changed your opinion. I just tripped over the BGM in the sequence at the 'madam' when the 'saamiyar' is treating Vikram; the oil massage etc...maan, mindblowing stuff!

  If 'Karisakkaattu Poove' was an 'inba athirchi' to you, I'm sure 'Kanna Unnai Thedugiren' will be a 'perinba athirchi'. Get hold of it fast...

  Looking at the theme of the movie, I am not surprised by these sort of lyrics. And also, I never mind IR doing such songs., What is the big deal in doing Shakalakha Babies and Salaam Gulaamuuuuuus ? Somebody has to feed the Kasappu marnthu also to the people, Right ?

  Songs in KarisalKattu Poove are great and they just remind me of the fantastic Raaja hits of the 80s .I am happy that Raaja has started giving continous hits (which happens to be his forte ) .

  I think you got the term wrong.
  'Kasappu Marundu' is usually referred to in the following context:
  The medicine that's being given may be bitter, but it's ging to do you a lot of good.
  So, the dappa numbers don't qualify for this term ;)
  
  IS there any BIG banner movie of IR coming up at all? He is so unlucky, all top notch production houses are either opting for the Devas or the Rahmans. Is ego the only issue?
  
  However, it was heartening to see Raja's picture dominating the 'Kanna Unai' album cover. That the hero is a non-entity is a different thing altogether.
  
  What Raja needs is a good banner and an inspiring director/lyricist team.

  This weeks' Kumudam has some interesting stuff, perhaps marking another round of IR-ARR slugfest..
  
  Director KS Ravikumar is asked why, despite Kamal's known fondness for IR, he was not chosen, and this is what the moron (xcuse me) had to say...
  
  "Kamalukku Ilaiyaraajavai pidikkum..aanal ellorukkum Ilaiyaraajavai pidikkanume"
  
  If you read his interview in which he proudly states that he looks upon cinema as a business and not an art, you'll find just why this guy is nearing his end of the term, just as his predecessors like SPM, P Vasu etc. did. Singularly crappy film-makers who pandered to the lowest common denominator, and finally one day when their luck runs out, you've got to search for them..
  I'm amazed by this guy's arrogance that shines right through his interview; if he was educated enough to have an e-mail ID, he'd have got a bucketful from me...
  
  Also, a candid interview with Subbudu in which he compares IR and ARR, and you know what, I'm smiling....:))

  I have previously said and I can repeat again that one should not feel sorry for IR that he missed TENALI. Iam happy that he missed the chance
  to work with KSR and I'll be happy if he continues not to take KSR's movies anymore. this guy is full of crap and relies just on big movie starts like kamal and rajni to makes his films salleable.
  BTW, do u think he would be really directing the movie when kamal is playing the lead role?
