I guess friends here mistaken Srikanth's comment, He tried to say that
SETHU's songs are not good enough to make a come back, may be that’s true, but the songs are really good with innovative tunes and ofcourse 100% original which has become a rare in TFM today! Good for IR and his fans!!Srikanth
, if u don’t mind may I recommend to listen to Engey Sellum and Vaarthai Thavarivittaai again? Its so pleasing… listen to these numbers just before the sleep, hope u see Raja there, not 'cause of his voice!! Its amazing.. Im enjoying everyday!! Its not like other MD's songs which constantly bug ur mind by reminding the other tunes!!

Srikanth I appreciate your inputs in this forum.I can understand your enthusiastic criticism to some extent. BTW, I just listened to the TIME CD that
arrived from India. Recording quality/style of IR has become a sore point with me. I cannot stand his recent albums at all mainly for this reason (apart
from Guru, ofcourse). Even the 'niram piriththu' song has been messed up with artificial sibilance generators. I am suspecting Karthik Raja to be the
culprit. People should understand not to mix family with business. Bad idea. I am betting Kannukkul nilavu to be not very different in this recording
style. hmm..looks like IR needs a full fledged western classical orchestra to do a good job these days !!! I am waiting for 'hey rAm' not KN :(

artificial sibilance generators --
can you explain this, I do not get it, because the recording was done on a latest digital platform.
I suppose digital recording is the best recording you could get today, many times better than analog. I have worked with 4,8 16 tracks - analog, it is a real pain and to get optimum quality we need to spend lot of money and ofcourse lot of time. We need a good studio to record!, good sound technician etc etc...
After digital technology came in, life is easy,we can get best quality at home!...we do not need great big studio or other funds. There are portable recording devices which we can hook up to the pc and play with the sounds.
in neram pirithu parethen I was able to identify all most all the instrments raja used, this was mainly due to the clarity in the recording.
I was happy that raja's recording had improved finally, in fact The CD itself is dolby digital recording, check it if you had Dobly recevier.
Digital Recording is a tool or medium, an artist should use it properly, Deva and the gang has the same equipment as rahman, but still it garland in monkey's hand!...it needs to be used effectivly and sensibly, Kr is one of person who take a good care of his output.
I want to know about your claim, because you say this every time, I like to know more about it.

Srikanth I know what digital recording is. I am talking about the 'ssss' sound whenever a word like 'swaram' is pronounced. I only know about devices that reduce sibilance. But in this song it looks like it has been added or amplified badly.
I am not sure what you mean by 'Dolby Digital'. Because CD is two track it can only be 'Dolby Prologic' at the most.
Yeah, I can tell that Deva is using similar equipment. Even the guy who played light music in my brothers marriage wanted me to get him a drum machine.

Srikanth I know what digital recording is --- I did not try to explain you about Digital recording...I did not understand your claim, and sorry it was Dolby pro logic, since I am mostly used to Dolby digital these days, it is a typo.

Guys!
Vikatan has given `Sethu' 50 marks! There's no mention about the songs, but it praises the emotional quality of BGM, though!

Hi all,
I listened to the recent "kannukul nilavu and tirunelveli". I was really disappointed with the musical arrangement. Even though the tunes were good, too bad is the musical arrangement. IR should've concentrated more on the musical arrangement part. I wonder what else chance can he hope for him to make a hit. I would say IR missed a great chance for a come back. Now only Hey Ram remains and even it is fogged by controversy. Let's hope for something better from our IR.

What a super album by our IR.Kannukul Nilavu and Thirunelveli will be super hit in tfm just like Time and Sethu.IR is a genius.Lot of people try to hummilate him. This is really a upset.Raja is a really high class one.We can't compare anybody with him include MSV.MSV also accept this thing.MSV said that Raja is always one step up than me.Hey Ram also be hit just like raja's latest album.Raja god of music.

i think you're being patently unfair
1) karthik raja seems to be a much-maligned guy in these forums, with everything that's annoying you, from recording quality to percussion arrangements, being laid at his doorstep
without any concrete evidence. how can you make such unsubstantiated charges? i suppose you've set up an alibi by using "suspecting" so that gives you an escape route where you can say it was all in your IMHO.
well, if you've indeed had a vantage view of IR recordings and so can speak with conviction on this, i retreat, egg-on-my-face...
2) the other point i need to clarify is, who is the audience that IR is supposed to compose for? audiophiles like you who're sensistised to "sibilance" and the like... or a vast majority like me who're ignorant of the nuances of digital recording, and who buy a cassette/CD to just listen to some good music..? i can say that i recently had "time" and "kannukkul nilavu" playing repeatedly in my car travelling back and forth between bangalore-chennai, and swear i enjoyed every second of each cassette. at the other end of the scale, i stopped by at mettur for "kothuparotta", and heard k.nilavu songs blaring out from the joint... and i don't think anyone there was losing sweat about whether the Dolby was digital or prologic..
being so, is it fair to condemn a honest, straight-from-the-heart attempt such as "time", just so you imagine IR and his family of having a fetish for wrecking their own music?
in disappointment

Suresh,
I am a great fan of IR. I am exasperated at the style of orchestration being used for new IR albums. It sounds too electronic. It does not go well with IR's style. I suspected Karthik Raja because I have been told that he plays the keyboard for Raja. So I am suspecting him for the drum machine programming as well. I dont see this kind of work in Yuvan Shankar Raja. For eg. IRs drums all sound 'thin and tinny'. But you dont see that in Yuvan Shankars songs. ARR seems to be the expert in using electronics/digital stuff. But I would say YSR is getting close to ARRs quality in sound engineering.
I dont think there is anything wrong in expecting IR to give quality recording. We know his composing his good. Guru, INDIA 24hrs all sound good. I dont expect audiophile quality. ARRs is not audiophile quality but I am happy with that. I will take YSR as well. IR really needs an expert to help him out on this digital stuff. And it is frustrating when he has YSR around why the quality is still that bad.
(if you have not heard Guru or INDIA 24hrs you owe it to yourself to listen to it and compare the recording).

Kiru :
Karthi raja is a great drum programer, listen to the songs in manikam, kathala kathla, Ulasam ...he has some great programming work.
When you program a pattern it should sound as though it is played by an real drummer (how do you do this? this is a topic by itself if needed I can discuss) , yuvan shanker lacks this quality or ability, as of today I think KR superseeds them in programming ablities.
Basically I still dont get your point still, what is your claim ?
