quite an outlandish remark.... I think Fazil is preoccupied with misconception(s) about ARR.

I too agree with Krish. Please dont comment about the songs just by playing the CD or Cassette once.
Go and see how it fits it into the movie. For a low budget movie like Sethu you cannot expect Raaja to play a Symphony just to make a few bugs out of the Cassette sales. He has in fact given the best of his tunes.
Those two pathos create a kind of sympathetic feeling while watching the movie. Please go and see the movie before commenting about the music.
With a low budget movie and with no Stars involved a music director has to do just give good good tunes that evoke the appropriate feeling amongst the audience and he has done that very well. If he had added a lot of instruments and synthesized sound effects( as is the current trend) the natural feeling that you get now while watching the movie would have been lost.Dont expect Raaja to create a sensation in such movies. he has done his job well and has shown utmost involvement.
I cannot agree with the argument that the movie is hit just because of the story. At crucial points
when Vikram gets treated for his illness and during the climax there is not much dialogue. Only the Camera and the music communicate the story and both these functions have aided the director very well. Only Raaja can do such a job.

Krish:
Long time since a looooong and thought provoking posting had come in DF !! your arguements are very much valid sans the personal attacks ( if the Srikanths of the worlds dont like the songs, then the others do not have the right to like, much less, appreciate the songs:-)
I am with you when you say everybody is entitled to express his opinion. Just think of the same from Srikanth's / my point of view. I strongly felt Sethu' songs (except "sharanam bhava") were hollow without much orchestration and no innovative tunes. IMO, that was MO :-). I am just putting forth my expectation and have not accused anybody of possessing a repulsive taste in the DF (which I know is distasteful). I shall not talk for Srikanth and others as it is not my job.
Similar to your commendations are my comments. After hearing you feel elated and I donot - there ends the matter. Atlast, it is the individual opinion expressed in a decorous manner.
Regards
MS

some information about "hey ram"
(1) hey ram cassette release - hindhi version - is due 7th January. date for thamizh version release is not yet known.
(2) the bgm scores (RR scores) of hey ram will be released as a separate album!! (the cd will also contain the songs, as i understand!! :-))) )

Is the releasing of the BGM as a separate album got altleast something to do with the discussions that some of our DFers have had with Raja in the past? (I mean some of these guys have actually spoken to raja and have asked him to release his old BGM tracks ina separate CD). If so, it is an encouraging sign.

The problem was that people like Srikanth and others who did not like Sethu songs immediately started casting those who liked the Sethu songs as the hard core Ir fan who are biased and say they like it just for the sake of liking it"
I strongly object these words , I never said that!... since songs did not go well --- people now are talking bgm as the subject matter ignoring the 9 songs...this is what I told and still I maintain it.
as you say everyone has got to voice out thier opinion, I just did that,
by thw way I hear atleast 10 time before making a comment on the song.
Like many, I have been following raja right from 1975's...till date, frankly sethu songs were not up to the mark even to the level of oridinary pass time MDs like sirpi etc....thats why I commented, and I did not take this to personal level....of using anyone names, I used it few names since mine was used by few!...
I just gave my opinion on the songs.
Then the scene turned to Rerecording etc, there were arguments on recrecording is great...good agreed...but we cannot ignore 9 songs (OR 7, leaving out the 2 that you say it is good.)
Franky, In my opnion ------- it is not a 100% attempt by raja, just for the sake of...music.
Luckily movie has a good theme and story, so we are talking about it till now,

Once again I liked all the 9 songs in seth, not two as pointed out by you. However, as you are entitiled to your opinion that Sethu's songs suck, so do we who feel that Sethu songs are great.
I think where the entire discussion becomes irrelevant is trying to have the last word on this issue or trying to convince each other otherwise.
While I got into this discussion because I thought without the other point of view, an unbalanced portrayal of the album may sway people who might want to listen to the album.. And I do not want Raja to stop giving music... I will stop my discussion at this point.

--- Krish , noble cause...but in your task of balancing the equation...please do not use my name in wrong sense to balance it on the other side. I am more concerned about that, thats why I replied to your posting, if your posting had not contained my name, I would not cared much., as far as I am concerned sethu's songs are dead and gone to grave, long time ago, Now I am waiting for the next album.

Srikanth has to learn to let go of things. If Sethu is bad is his opinion so be it. Even I dont like Sethu songs that much. I know that IR is not good with electronic instruments (drums, keyboards). He seems to do well only in a classical arrangement. But this will not affect my respect for his composing abilities. And I do not go around posting back and forth making it sound like IR is totally out of ideas, lost his stuff etc. This might annoy people who have good respect for him. When pointed out his BGM scoring abilities, continuing to harp on the songs shows a lack of desire to appreciate the MD. I can understand why this will lead to unpleasant exchanges. And mature people are shying away from the discussions after getting initially annoyed.

Kiru: to end this matter,I never told raja has has lost his capabilities..AND NEVER WILL.....please please please! do not speculate...
I just told raja needs to concentrate more to give good songs, he had good batting pitch with 9 songs, man! he missed it , I was upset, because his TIME was great and I ASSUMED he his back in bussiness...... when I heard sethu sorry...oops! I keep my mouth shut...songs might sound great to many if I dont open it.
Visiri:dont worry I will post my reviews, sportiveness is born with tamilians.
finally,
Srikanth has to learn to let go of things ---- Shall Learn. thanks.
