  Wrong absolutely.When musician Sekar died suddenly his wife and children including ARR were living in Royapettah without any financial support.The nearby Dargha Mufty helped them and Dilip and mother became Muslims..Two sisters remained Hindus and married Hindus.Rehman and last sister ,converted Muslims married Muslims.Rehman's wife is a Tamil Muslim and her sister married Malayalam actor Rehman as he was settled in Madras....I doubt whether ARR'S mother can even speak Malayalam. a.a

  Well i'm sanjay from Malaysia...and i have heard a short clip af arr's bombay dreams...and its sure to be a western 80% and classical 20% kind of a music.And guess besides arr and harris now mani ratnam for his new release has taken up a new md and is called dhina who is from an advertising field and the music is said to be as good as arr's.The movie stars madhavan as leading role.Well if anyone wants to corresspond to me personally or wanna be my mail friend from india...mail me to akash_v@excite.com.Byeee.Endrum Indiargal vaazgha(although i'm a malaysian hindu...:)

  1 2 Ka 4 is great. Just Brilliant. ARR is back again. It's a 100% commercial album.

  Come on Guys - be sensible. Currently there are definitely better albums than "1 to ka 4" in the hindi film market. This is below average when compared to what ARR has composed in hindi earlier. Commercial album or art movie album, it should be good - there are no standard rules either, it's just the treatment of orchestration and stuff like that will be different. Well I would say only "Sona Nahi" which is set in Rupak ( hindustani Rhythm ) is good but not 100% as it should be from ARR. Guys, be honest otherwise we do injustice to our music. If you say this is good, then taking this feedback, not just ARR but others also would start making this kind of music. Donot give wrong feedback to the composers. THey must do a good job always.

  If you see last few Albums of ARR there is a clear indication that he is going out of stuff. The cassette sales of his movie is just due to expectation and publicity among people. But if he continues this way he defenitely won't last longer especially amidst other young MD's (such as HJ and YSR). I heard 12ka4 with a north indian guy. Unlike some of his earlier albums nothing special in this one. Nowadays, it seems he compels himself to get good music out of his brain. That certainly is not the sign of a genius. Also, his bargaining power might go down.

  Composing music for films is just another profession - Donot attempt to call any of those mortal composers as a genius unless they are going to set up some system of music for coming generations. How many of these guys take the responsibility of changing the tastes of people for generations? Did they do good? who's there to judge? Yes it's good but did we loose anything? Can any of the youngsters know how the roots of our music were? how did it start? How many of them would know anything about our music origin?
  Guys, come out of this comparison of mortal composers? They are making money - do you know how much they bill the producers? Don't you think they must give out the best? There's no excuse on the entertainment...We are paying for it...and we all deserve the best. Donot go by the names...they have to work for best.

  Guys, the essense is that all of us have to be aware of everything. And start demanding the best if it concerns you...Start doing it...not by whining or comparing mortals...it's their livelihood...so they do anything to survive...so we might get either good or bad.

  If we go accordingly then I would say present recycling ability of ARR lacks the following. He is no more unique.
  
  1. imagination
  2. creativity
  3. wonder
  4. wisdom
  5. inventiveness

  Fliflo..I think I have read the Gardner book you are referring to. Now that you have listed 12 qualities, people will ask you to define those 12 qualities. It can be a protracted exercise. Looks like you are interested in these kind of stuff. Even I am. Oflate, though, my opinion is, this genius definition is only a relative term.

  I liked some songs in Zubeidaa. But that does not prove he is a genius. For me still it appears recycling. My aim is not to hurt you. Although I like some of his songs mostly thery look artificial. I mean he is doing some mathematics kind of thing in composing. Fitting, cutting, attaching, tailoring etc..etc... Any tailoring job needs lot of time you know...

  I agree with fliflo...but that doesn't mean that ARR songs are not melodious...they are good but not the only ones for future...Guys have good heart to appreciate other MDs also if they are good.

  arr was always a genius, is always a geniud and will always be a genius.. many of the comments made on arr shows absurdity among those people who made the comments.. though 12ka4 isnt great (confirmed to the standards that arr sets himself..), but it is the best hindi commercial album in the recent times..
  above all, this musical is more than good for shashilal' ..
  so try to think sensibly and stop posting absurd comments, albeit the fact that tfm is a biased group !!
