Some of IR's numbers are soulful? Do you mean "some"???? This is unacceptable. In the thread titled "IR's new albums" you saying "IR fans are making out of mountain hill" is irrelevant. If you are an ARR fan, go and make a "molehill from a speck of dust" in the thread "ARR's new albums". Don't complain about IR and his fans in this thread.

mani,
I was responding to Amalraj's posting.I said my opinion and you said yours. That's fine.
yaaro,
With due respect to kanchi periyaval,is he a music authority?Could you please explain why you used "even kanchi periyaval finds raaja's renditions soulful"?Explain "even" in that.

Trend and Yaroo ---> Its better we (rather you both) don't involve Kanchi Acharyal into this forum. Please leave him and for the sake of sanity and decency, give a full stop to a discussion on this issue.

trend,
this is a man who is so used to all devotional aspects of music-well ,i can't imagine him listening to anything else, can you!
well, when a person of his musical leanings finds something that strikes a chord, well I think that says a lot about IR's musical capablities.that is why the 'even'.
regarding his musicl credentials, the former peryaval was supposed to be a very learned man ,who knew a lot about finer nuances of carnatic music.I was just extrapolating this news to the present periyaval.that is all.

i have a doubt, i often read in this DF that raja's recording quality is poor than ARR, can u let me know what is that makes ARR recording clear than IR, what does IR lack in recording

Trend - why are you boring us with the same stuff over and over again in every single thread you post. Contribute usefully if you can. Otherwise just observe what goes on! (Atleast learn from your favourite ARR that quality matters more than quantity). Every single thread here has inane, worthless, asinine posts from you that neither make for intersting reading nor are informative. I am amazed how you continue to post this drivel (and even revel in it).

I wont blame Tread, It use to be IR fans (including me) who goes in to ARR threads and post unwanted stuff. Now ARR fans also doing this actively.

Podhum,
I'm sorry if I bored you.Just disregard my posting if you don't like or point out specifically how my posting is inane or worthless.
With no offense meant to anyone,is everyone other than me contributing something worthful?
Please don't indulge in personal attacks. There is a dignified way of saying anything.
People express themselves freely here. You can't expect everyone everytime to be meaningful.
If you don't like something just disregard it and move on.
Don't try to hurt others.
Let's maintain some respect among ourselves.

Sure. Agree with you. Where on earth you find this much time? You seem to visit all threads regularly. Good. Let us come out of IR/ARR barrier and show some respect to each other. But then let us talk about music :)

Got a new pop album yesterday, 'Kaathalai Gowravikkum Neram' is the title of the album. HMV has released this. There are 8 songs in this album, KR has composed six of them and the other two are by IR. (Song No. 7 & 8)
These are my observations after first 5/6 listenings.
1. PooppaRichchaa ::: Geetha, Bhavani ::: Lyrics - Arivumathi
A very catchy number., Sounds like 'NaaNam enna ..' from 'Shalini' Album in some places. I guess the song is based on feelings of a girl in love (Arivumathi has written all possible kuzappamaana lyrics., :-). Voice of both the female singers suits well with the song. Tune has a typical KR Stamping.
2. Chinna Paappaa ::: Murali Krishna, Shobana ::: Lyrics - Arivumathi
Another good number with dance beats - melody is lagging a bit, But the song is quite enjoyable. Female voice is tooooo good and dominates the song. Murali Krishna sounds more like Yugendran and/or Krishnaraj. 'Kaathal ithuthaanaa, kadalee thuLiyilthaana' pola sila varikaLil aRivumathi kaNNil padukiRaar.
3. Kaathalan selkinDRa ::: Erfanullah, Sangeetha ::: Lyrics - Mohammad Ali
After two average numbers., KR gives an excellent song. A very good tune, nicely packed with emotions and typical KR orchestrisation. ! 'Kaathalan selkinDRa paathaiyil peN thaapangaL vanthu thavam irukkum' is the first line and the song is based on this theme. Both demand (???!!!???) other's love .. !
Sangeetha and Erfanullah sing so well. Particularly in Erfan's voice, Hariharan, Shankar Mahadevan, Srinivas, Unni krishnan - ivarkaL ellaarin kuralaiyum onDRaayk keetta uNarvu, This chap should look for his own style soon. Knowingly Seniorsai imitate paNRa maathiri enakku oru feeling. :-)
IMO, the second best song in this album.
Don't miss the chorous @ the end of 2nd saraNam, great one.
4. Anbe unnai ::: Erfanullah, Maheswari ::: Lyrics - Mohammad Ali
Another very good song. Tune is 100% IRish, Kalakkalaa irukku, My only varuththam is, KR could have used S. Janaki for this song, 'IvaL poo manam silirkkum' enDRu paadum poothu, kuralileeyee oru silirppu vara veNdaamaa ? IMHO, only SJ can bring that - However, I should mention Maheswari has also done a good job, Her voice is like Sujatha in some places and like SP Sailaja in some other :-) Lyrics could have been better.
5. Hey Maamama ::: Mohd. Rafee, Geetha ::: Lyrics - Amiroudine
IMO, A 'Dhrushtip pottu' for the album. 'Maama, Aaama, Vaamma'nnu traditional (?!) lyrics, Eeethoo paadaRaanga, AvLoothaan. As with other songs, Female voice is good, That is the only consolation.
6. Poo vaiththaa ::: Erfanullah ::: Lyrics - Arivumathi
After three songs, I started liking Erfan's voice. He has sung this solo number to near perfect, Good modulation of voice and he has given the respect to the lyrics. ARivumathi tries some pattern like 'Nee KaaTRu, Naan maram' ..
'ThuuNdilee iRai thedaththaan, Nee nathiyaay iru
Oonchalee uyir aadaththaan, Nee kiLaiyaay iru'
IMO, this song could have been better with some good lyrics.
There is a song 'Poovee puthiree' in YSR's album 'Blast' sung by Srinivas. This Tune has some similarities to that song. (Same Raaga ?)
7. Mudichchu vechcha ::: Chandira Mohan, Udayakumar ::: Lyrics - Arivumathi
Imagine my state. After patiently waiting for half an hour to listen to IR's songs, I was given this DAPPANGUTHTHU song. ReNdu strange voice, (Intha latchaNaththula Angangee kural maaththi paadaRa velai thevaiyaa ivangaLukku ?), Sampanthamee illaatha lyrics (See sample - Achchu vellam uChChuk kottuthu, Oru katterumpu Moochchu muttuthu) --- To cut a long story short, I would rate this as a below average song. (After more listenings, This may sound catchy ... But I don't want that to happen to IR's songs :-)
8. Kaathalai Gowravikkum Neram ::: Mohan, Vickneshwari ::: Lyrics - Amiroudine
Finally, The master is here. An excellent song with IR's touch - particularly Saranam is really wonderful and both the singers have done a great job. (Vickneshwari 'Paadal solla veNdum' enpathai konchip paaduvathil thamizh konjcham sithaikiRathuthaan, Aaanaal athai mannikkalaam - negligible). Lyricsum eemaaTRavillai. Great song to complete the album.
Overall,
1. All singers sing TAMIZH as TAMIZH,
2. Nowhere music is dominating the lyrics, (Eventhough the lyrics are not that great ;-)
3. After more than two years of 'Anjnjaatha Vaasam', KR hasn't lost anything. :-) All the six songs by him look fresh and I started my wait for his next album(s) !
4. IR fans who plan to buy the cassette/Album .. Do not hesitate, 'Kaathalai Gowravikkum Neram' song pothum., You will be satisfies. All other songs are Free for you :-)
Vazakkam pola, All IMHO.
