I feel MSV is most melodious MD, followed by KVM, followed by IR.
Pls post your comments!

I can enjioy SENTHAMIL THAEN MOZHIYAL and NALAMTHAANA and MALARNTHUM MALARATHA, even after 30 to 40 years. But CHIKKU PUKKU RAIYILU, OORVASAI are almost forgotten by the people.
This could be that you are comparing melodies with hip-hop kind of songs. Senthamizh thaen mozhiyaaL, malarndhum malaraadhu have to be compared with en veettu thottaththu, kannamoochi aenada kind of songs and see that whether we can still able to listen to these songs after few years. This is IMHO

There is no doubt that MSV is the more melodious of all composers. However, KVM had his great days and I still think Unnai Arindahl is a fantastic overall song. Adimai Penn is a classic. IR's melody making is of different kind, that is an art form by itself. You had MSV, KVM, now why should IR be like them. It is not difficult for IR to have been like MSV and KVM, but it is not easy for others to compose IRish tunes. That brings me to this great mystery. How did Deva do it with Annamalai? The most inconsistent (style wise) MD ever, this Deva sometimes has the ability to rewrite history of music itself. Before Deva, After Deva

Rather than comparing 4 MDs like this, start a
new thread:
Out of the following 4 which is the best:
(1)SPB + IR
(2)SPB + ARR
(3)SPB + KVM
(4)SPB + MSV

Is this some kind of joke, I only opened two SPB threads, why I am getting all the bashing???, look @ how many IR threads in this forum.
Isai Priyan;
RAVI (@ 212.138.47.14) is not me, OK, I promise, it's not me, so if any IP address start with the same first digit, it does not mean , it is the same person, so if some onle else's IP address starts with 157, does that mean it is u?
Ravi;
Which planet r u from man, "Chikkupukku rayile" is a melody, what???, do u know what melody mean??
Here are few ARR's melodies.
1) "Kannalane enathu kannai " by KSC from "Bombay"
2) "Swasamee swaasame" by SPB+Sadhana from "Thenali"
3) "Anjali anjali" by SPB + KSC from "duet"
4) "Pachai kizhikal tholodhu" by KJY from "Indian".

No i was not "bashing" you. It was just a joke coz there are too many SPB threads. U seem to be quite an SPB-FANATIC. (U sometimes praise him too much...but still its better than being a fan of some ordinary artist. SPB no doubt is a singer of superlative merit).
Anyway, coming back to the topic, as I said melody is quite subjective.
MSV is called mellisai mennar...but there are many KVM,IR songs that are equally "melodious"

don't u find KVM's music always have a carnatic touch to it?
I am quite suprised, that u being a Non_Tamilian having such knowledge of South Indian Artists, cool.

My dear WhyNot, that remark was actually an old Tamil song. I sang it in tribute to the title of this thread. :)
What happened to wit? < sigh >

Hi avr,
All the MDs in TFM has melody contribution. But MSV is melody specialist. It doesn't mean that other MDs didn't give melody at all.

I do acept that MSV is melody king. but IMO, IR gave the real feel for each of his melidies and particulalry his Charanams are spectacular which none touched to that peak. IR melodies are unique.
