Srinath: That list is not even 7 songs long. And Kuzhappam contributed only 2 songs. And that too without any substantiation, which was what caught on my nerves:)). THe other 5 included 4 in the 'inspired' category , as the contributor himself acknowledged. So, see, the list is only 3-strong and as you said, these 3 songs are not the reason Raja is what he is. Besides, it is all conjecture but the point is "Couldnt Raja have come up with better, original tunes for the situations of those 3 songs?". I want to know if Chandy, kuzhappam et al are accusing Raja of running dry and hence copying those 3 songs. If so, how come Raja came up with such wonderful sad songs similar to "Kanavu Kaanum.." after MellaP. There is one in Rex's page..."Aaraaro paadiyathaaro.." which is composed for a similar situation. Hear that and tell me if it is any less superior to Kanavu Kaanum. Why didnt Raja use that tune for Mellappesungal? Is it not surmiseable , then, that Raja leT BM have his say because he didnt want to argue beyond a point with a close friend. I tell you, there are occasions when I give up some of my obstinate preferences for my close friends(Dash it, I even endured Uyirae, Dil se and Prema tho for the sake of my close friend/Roommate)..I am not saying Raja is in the same spiritual level as me to give up on some of his morals for his friends' sake. But then , is it so far-fetched if I perceive BM arguing his way to convince Raja making use of his closeness?. Same goes for Darling Darling and PA was a man to whom Raja always was gratefull....even to non-descript movies like Thambi Pondatti , he gave some beautiful tunes just because PA produced it(the movie, not the tunes:)). I find it conceivable that he conceded PA's request for that reason. My point is
1. The IR-detractors here have come up with 3 songs. Not 100. Not 20. No, not even 7. 3. Three.Moondru.Theen. Moodu.Moonu. 4-1.5-2.10-7.MOre Importantly 4000 - 3997 .
2. Even these three songs are not ,like, something that he couldnt have bettered with his original tunes ,but he seems to have succumbed to a "Unakku andha tune thaane vendum.Enn arumaiyaana tune vendaam illai. Indha vechuko" kind of mood.
3. But these guys come in and state arbitarily that he copied such and such a song ,then without bothering to substantiate ,disappear. You might be "large-hearted" enough to excuse that. I am not.To quote srikanth , "Kannal kanbathu ...theera visarippathu..". So, If Mr. X comes up with a charge, let him bring proof. Then, and only then will I agree that IR copied even these miniscule percentage of songs. Call me obstinate. Call me mule-headed. Call me "pidicha muyalukku..".You see, I have no problems accepting that Raja copied per se. Because that is going to be, as you rightly observed, a miniscule percentage anyway. But that doesnt mean I should concede every claim being made without any efforts to ask for authentication.Right?
4. Even assuming every claim they make is true, which I am sure is not the case, your argument about percentage, and contribution of these songs to his greatness ,nullify their efforts to paint Raja black.I dont expect/wish/yearn for them to accept it. But I will certainly put my logical, forthright arguments against their accusations, if i find these accusations convoluted. To call me intolerant, when I take pains to argue the issue(E.hari,Did I ever discuss your personal traits?) is simply diversion
tactics. I am sad to see I am succumbing to it:)).
I hope thats clear ...I dont want people coming in and lecturing me on tolerance and acceptance...Thanks, but No,Thanks.
AND Sri, thanks buddy , for clarifying things for E.Hari. Boy! How did he put it into his head that manliness has got anything at all to do with accepting facts, let alone unsubstantiated accusations:)).
E,Hari: Lastly, I guess I HAVE been caustic in the last paragraph ...but I am sorry, it is a reaction to your unsolicited advice on manliness. I dont mean to take up issues personally. I wish both of us drop it here and now. There is a hell of a lot to be said about Raja here that it wont simply do to discuss Raj, Kuzhappam and Srinath here. And , no, it is not 'insecurity' but a genuine desire to take up the cause of a worthy, deserving , talented genius and to prevent/oppose mud being thrown on him that brings me here. I have nothing to gain from this. Lots to lose , BTW.
And Sri, watch out for my next post. I am going to test the vastness of the much-trumpeted area of your heart:)))

Srinath: Conceding the wishes of Kuzhappam and Chandy that I investigate their charges and come up with the facts, I have done my own reasearch and guess what, all these guys are right and more's to come. Just keep reading.
1. Punnagai Mannan theme, as E.Hari said, was conceived by Kamalhassan. Actually, it was Shruti, Kamal's daughter, who was in Sarika's womb presumably then, who came up with it. Lets not go into how she communicated it to Kamal. Bottomline is she did. Kamal was so overwhelmed that the first thing he thought of was contacting Raja , who was, Kamal tells me, struggling with the PM BGM composing at that time, unable to inspire his creative cells to match the wonderful sequence where Kamal proposes to Revathy. Time was running out for the release of the movie but Raja was not able to deliver. Kamal thought it was nothing short of a miracle that his to-be daughter communicated this piece to him at this juncture. Immediately, he called-up Raja, who was planning to leave for Himalayas to see if he can get inspiration there. Raja was flabbergasted and refused to believe. But when Kamal played the piece on his key-board Raja was duly impressed. He immediatley suggested that Kamal name his daughter Shruti in recognition of her pre-natal musical accomplishment. But I digress. As it goes, Raja used the theme for the movie'S BGM but failed to credit it to Kamal. This was the cause of a heartburn between them and this is the root-cause for Kamal playing off and on with Raja for the Marudhanayagam project. He was waiting all these years to take revenge on Raja. Thus goes the first impropriety of Raja. If, after this also, you maintain he is a genius, read on.
2. Everyone knows how Karagaattakaaran was a big hit and gave Raja a big name. Did you know the true story behind the composition of this movie's music? It is just as well you don't because if you know , you will lose any iota of respect youhave for Raja. I wouldnt have wanted to dispel your illusion that Raja was a true-genius who didnt hog credit for others' work ;That his claim to fame was based on his work, not his copied work. Do you know who composed Karagattakaran, actually? Hold your breath..it was actor Sendhil(Yes, that unsung hero, who , we have all been unfairly informed to us a a "Bonda thalaiyan" etc)!
Apparently, one day he had come to meet Raja for some personal reasons. Apparently, for some money. Raja told "Okay I will give you money but what do I get in return?". At that time, Karagattakkaran discussion had finished, star cast finalised and some scenes shot. GA was waiting for Raja to come up with the score for the movie. It seems in the sets , he used to curse Raja for not being able to come up with a good score for the movie(Apparently, GA had rejected 39 tunes that Raja had offerred him for the movie) . "How and when am I going to complete this masterpiece of mine?" , it seems he used to polambify. Sendhil, a great friend of GA, used to watch frustratedly his friend's predicament. Though he knew he had the great tunes that GA needed in his mind, he didnt want to unnecessarily project himself. So, he kept quiet. Finally, when he had to meet Raja for some Financial help, and Raja asked "What will I get?" , he saw a solution to both his problem and GA's problem. Sendhil said to Raja "Okay, I'll give you super tunes for Karagattakkaran.". Raja said "I'll not give credit to you". Sendhil, the true martyr said, "Thats alright. I am happy my friend Ga will be able to complete his masterpiece now. That is enough for me". So, thats the story of Karagattakkaran. And we all know how Raja self-trumpeted "Paattale budhi sonnaar..pattukku naan paadu pattaen.." in that movie. It was partly true. He was really "Paadu pattufying" for tunes before Sendhil rescued him. But Raja had the gall to pass it off as his own and say great lines about himself. What a underling!. And here you are all, arguing he is a genius! What travesty of justice!
Tell me now, does Raja deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as our ARR and Deva, who atleast copy from sources which can be identified by these internet-educated sleuths atleast, if not the common man in TN? Dash it, Raja even passed off his sons' tunes as his. Karthik was singing "Ennai thalatta varuvalo" in bathroom and our man lifted it for KM! Yuvan was humming "Kamalam padha kamalam" in poojai room and our man flicked it! Chee! Chee! It is a waste of time talking about this thief, robber, burglar!
3. I met one Ms. Abitha kujaambal when I was in Paris. Apparently , she is a born-genius as far as the instrument "mandolak" is concerned. It is a percussion instrument that gives a veenai-like sound instead of the dham-dham that emanate from normal percussion instruments like Mridangam. She was with Raja initially. Her contribution to his initial success was immeasurable. But after he became a big shot, he found no use for her talents and threw her out, while surreptiously stealing several of her notes. She says Mahanadhi, Athma , Pattu Paadava were all based on her notes. And today, she is eking out a living in Paris playing on the streets. Atleast the French give respect to true artistes! The silver lining is that Our thenisai thendral Deva (Now! Theres a humble stalwart, who is also a genuine human being unless bogus gnanis) was in Paris recently to receive the Paris Tamil Association award- did u know that my french friends were so impressed by Aasai that it stayed on the top-10 charts of my neighbourhood TV-Circuit for a record 222 weeks in succession, a record surpassed only by MJ's Bad!- and was moved to tears by the plight of such a great artiste. He has taken her back to India and has vowed to establish her credentials and expose the Pseudo-Gnanis.
And thats not all...I have similar stories for atleast THree hundred and twenty nine of hiS songs. And 329/4000 is 8.25 % , which is substantial enough to rebuke your theory that insignificant numbers dont matter.
Do you want me to post those 329 stories and discredit your idol once and for all without any hope of retaining his dignity? Better you guys open your ears to good music, instead of bothering about who originally made it because even your idol is not infallible..infact he is much worse than Open-Offenders like Deva.

raj: don't make such a fool of yourself. u are only degrading yourself by making such a false statement. i knew that IR fans are dumb, but i didn't expect them to be so dumb. how on earth can u make such a mistake??? ok, let me correct the mistake. 329/4000 comes to 8.225% and not 8.25%... please don't mislead people like this in future.
