  "Tu Achchaa Lagta Hai" in Nayak is actually based on the interlude of "Hello Mr.Edhirkatchi" from Iruvar ("unnail imagail pirindhaalum"). Interesting a song from an interlude.

  I saw lagaan yday and was quite impressed with
  ARR.. I dint like the songs as much before, but
  with the movie, the songs stood out.. the entire
  movie was too good.. for a 3 1/2+ movie, there
  was no dragging or tired or useless portions..
  Sad 'Hey Ram' was not like this... guess it had
  too much experimentations for one movie.. :(
  
  And the BGM.. was really pleasant in most places..
  esp during the cricket scenes.. the BGM was well
  made and helped creating the right mood.. well
  done ARR...
  
  And me being a IR fan more than ARR, with some
  of the songs like the english-hindi song, the
  way the transitions happened between the two,
  I felt IR would have been proud to hear his one
  time student come out with something like this...
  I am saying this as a complement.. I felt it had
  a IR touch in it.. beautiful...

  Lagaan means tax, in this case, it is land tax.
  
  I too saw the movie a week back and it was quiet enjoyable. Did'nt feel as though it was dragged to nearly 4hrs. (precisely, 3:45 hrs but now it has become 4hrs.). ARR's work was good too. The BGM was apt. Even the cricket match towards the end (!!?? :-) starts well before 1:30hrs before the end) was quiet enjoyable as they were shot well with ARR's BGM compimenting it.
  
  And this is probably the first time he has sounded this folkish and Indian. Good work by ARR.

  I too saw it this week end in VCD (Thiruttu). God..It was a wonderful film.
  What you ahave said about the BGM is what I wanted to say. I wanted to put it in this way. I wanted to say that "Even the Master of BGM will appriciate ARR's effort on lagaan."
  
  He had almost 11 type of BGM for 11 players. Its a must see film for every body and more so for Cricket fanatics.
