You missed the whole point MS.
No, that's not what I want to say. I think it's perfectly alright to criticise any ARR album that is relatively new here.
But let it be constructive criticism.
Discuss by all means, but don't run down, don't spill hatred and for heaven's sake don't get personal with another poster.

U, you hit the nail right in its head. Thanks for speaking the mind of a few guys like me!
Puls, This is probably the first time I'm hearing you here. :))
vimal/sabesan : I believe all of us have a sense of which thread is appropriate for what kind of discussions. No one, including U/puls are trying to curb your freedom of speech or your "discussion" here. But your postins in this thread over the last 2 pages have been "inappropriate". And its good for all of us if you find a better place (appropriate thread) for the "kind of discussion" you wanna carry out. period.

Vijay,
Sorry, I meant to address puls with Udhaya.
NOV,
I'd like to reiterate, I didn't mean to attack anyone personally. To me, this discussion forum is nothing but a "Netted" version of what a bunch of guys discuss after dinner. Infact, in such kinds of discussions, we also pull each other's legs and at times, we get personal, which we totally try to avoid in this forum. I'm a fan of IR and attack ARR. It is a way out to escape boredom that accompanies anyone away from India. Infact, I like heated exchanges, it keeps my mind occupied, so that I could come out with a relevant response the next appropriate moment.
What will you discuss in the forum, if none of ARR's albums will be released in the next 5 months? Dump it into the archives section???
"Constructive Criticism" is the terminology used by the opposition party in India. Puleez, how constructive can it be? Do you think ARR will browse this page and change his style? I don't think so.

Vimal,
Unaku bore adicha sandai poda inga dhaana aal theduradhu?? :) NOM.
U can fight/attack, but fight in appropriate thread. There are people who visit these pages for gathering/reading info pertaining to their interests. And they arent too pleased to see a fight/attack etc in pages where such things are not suposed to be seen. This is precisly what Udaya has pointed out! You are free to attack ARR - there are threads meant just for this purpose. Why dont you use them?

Please notice that I've not attacked anyone personally. When I questioned about (Y)our musical taste, I didn't had anyone specific in my mind.
What a lovely disclaimer?
This is like saying "I didn't want to kill any particular person, I was just shooting indiscriminately at everybody."
Vimal/Shanti,
Hmmm, if WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO YOUR MUSICAL TASTE????? is not an attack on anyone reading this forum, then subtlety must be a swear word in your vocabulary. If your amplified words are the opposite of bland, give me bland any day. Oh, and let me elucidate the meaning of discussion for you:
a)one usually doesn't start a discussion with a foregone conclusion that someone "sucks" for there is no point in discussions after conclusions
b)discussions are for people who can digest the existence of a contrary opinion in the planet
c)hate-mongering to dumbstruck readers does not a discussion make
Sabesan,
Thalaiva, one can still be classy and give negative criticism (preferably to new movies not Vandhae Madharam or some tasteforsaken Hindi music). I have advocated free speech since my first day here. I'm the last person in this forum to want a fan club gathering. I'm not pushing for a passive forum, I'm no stranger to conflict. But I hope to see the power of one's conviction shown through articulate words not as a vomit of rage. So don't put words in my mouth, I already have enough in it to chew.

Now I tell you, if you just want to review ARR's new releases, go to the NEW ALBUMS IN TFM forum.
vimal ennappa idhu aniyaayamaa irukku? The whole purpose of this thread is to discuss about "NEW RELEASES BY ARR" and you are asking us to go elsewhere to discuss the same? This is the most ridiculous posting I have seen here.
I'm a fan of IR and attack ARR. It is a way out to escape boredom that accompanies anyone away from India
All we(NOV,Udaya,Chandy, myself,MS) have been trying to tell you is this and it's pretty straightforward and simple. You can discuss and criticise about ARR's new releases here in this thread. That's absolutely fine and we don't have a problem with that whatsoever.
But there is a huge difference between criticise and attack of which the latter seems to be your sole intention reading all your posts. Don't make scapegoat of others just because you want to escape from your so called boredom.
What will you discuss in the forum, if none of ARR's albums will be released in the next 5 months? Dump it into the archives section???
What a way to substantiate your logic man...so you are saying its okay to keep posting garbage("attack" in your terminology) just to keep this thread alive? Lets live that upto the TFM admins and not worry about it.
sabesan please don't have fun at others expense :-)))
cheers

For a change folks Read This.
Listen, Rahman calls tune for poor
Mumbai, July 13 (Anand Adhikari)
Renowned music composer A R Rahman is a part of a unique international project, “Listen”, which aims to raise $ 99 million for downtrodden children of the third millennium. Rahman has already started composing a track for the album which will be released this autumn.
“Being the only representative from India, it is my responsibility to deliver the composition according to international standards,” says Rahman, who is arguably the King of Indian pop music. His fusion of traditional Indian music with pop-rock and reggae was recognised as outstanding in his very first film, Roja, which won him the National Film Award in 1992.
For the “Listen” project, Rahman will be composing a modified version of one of Beethoven’s symphonies. In India, two NGOs — Save the Children, and Consortium for Street Children — are expected to benefit from the proceeds of the project. The “Listen” campaign includes two one-hour international TV specials, two albums, two videos and a spectacular three-hour international television concert from India.
“Listen” has the support of 99 creative artists. They include film stars Brooke Shields, Liam Nesson, Vanessa Redgrave, Goldie Hawn, Jeff Bridges, Jamie Lee Curtis and Susan Sarandon; musicians Peter Gabriel, John Lee Hooker, Sting and Rehman; visual artists Jeff Koons, Sheela Gowda and Robert Wilson, and songwriters Diane Warren and Lamont Dozier.
A “Listen” touring party was recently in Mumbai and met many street children. Jessica Lange, one of Hollywood’s most acclaimed leading ladies and the first actress in four decades to be nominated for two acting Oscars in the same year, was also part of the party. She said, “I’m very pleased by the generosity of the children here. They are quite open... some want to become doctors... nurses.”
The tour has already visited New York and California in June, where Jamie Lee Curtis, Jeff Bridges and Susan Sarandon listened to children of the street and those in hunger. On July 5 and 6, they filmed in Cairo with actress Brooke Shields and Egyptian visual artists Mohamed Abla and Gamal Abd El Nasser.
Of the money donated, 90 per cent will go to projects helping children in the developing world, with the remaining 10 per cent going to projects in the developed world. The ratio has been chosen to broadly reflect the enormity of children’s problems in developed and developing countries.

Kamesh,
Thanks for bringing us back to the topic here. The "Listen" project sounds great. While the involvement of actors and actresses guarantees a high profile project, I'm very intrigued by the musicians involved: John Lee Hooker (one of the most celebrated Blues Musicians ever), Peter Gabriel (one of Rock'n Roll's most respected elder statesmen), Sting (a solid songwriter with a decent voice) and of course ARR. This is going beyond just reaching the masses, this music is going to feed them.

Kamesh:
I too read somewhere about Liam Neeson & Company touring India - It will be great if only ARR could strike a partneship with Peter Gabriel ( and L Shankar) - Wishful Thinking.. :-)
