Same situation, but different Music Directors.

All times in EST +10:30 for IST.

There has been immense cases of different music directors composing tunes for a same situation and same script in various languages.

For example:

Laxmikanth-Pyarelaal composed for Dayavaan, (The Hindi remake of Mani Rathnam's gang epic, Nayagan, originally tuned by Ilayaraja in Tamil).

A R Rahman composed music for Priyadarshan's Doli Sajake Rakhna (The Hindi remake of Fazil's Kadhalukku Mariyaadhai, originally tuned by Ilayaraja in Tamil.

Mani Sharma composed music for S J Surya's Telugu Kushi (The Telugu remake of S J Surya's Tamil Kushi, originally tuned by Deva in Tamil. And, also Anu Mallik tunes the same script in Hindi earlier this year. All were very well accepted by the audience.

In all the above cases the script was the same and also the song situations and were also accepted by the audience without debacles. But the tunes, orchestra, compositions and singers were all different and so was the time of their releases.

In this thread shall we discuss such music. No Ilayaraja, A R Rahman debacle please.

  Mahen, I am also 100% positive that Thillu Mullu, Varumaiyin Niram Sigappu, and Billa songs were composed by MSV. They all definitely have the MSV stamp.

  i am 100% possitive Thillu mulu music is IR. because of u i went to India music online and confirmed it.. but yea varumayin niram sikapu is MSV. don noe abt billa. Pls watch thilu mulu movie and see. Under music Ilayaraja nu cleara potiruku.

  Hello dinesh who asked abt ur ASS? kathaluku mariyathai music and songs were definetly better than its hindi vertion by arr (Jodi songs except oru poyavathu sol kaney..thts songs music has been done by another md). u r one of those poor desperate arr fans arnt u?? If u compare kadhaluku mariyadai music sales and Jodi sales that will tell the story.

  is a trademark MSV song. I will bet my last dollar on MSV being the MD for Thillu Mullu. Did you visit Raaga and look under Music Directors/MSV? Thillu Mullu must be there. Moreover, at least until the time of Thanneer Thanneer, MSV was mostly the MD for KB, barring an occasional movie when Vijayabaskar was the MD (Thappu thaalangal).
  
  Also the song "thillu mullu thillu mullu ullamellam kallu mullu" is also another trademark MSV-stamped song.

  Billa also is by MSV. "My name is Billa", "vethalaya pottEndi" are MSV songs. Polladhavan, Pokkiri Raja, Thee, are also all music by MSV.

  Hey im also willing to bet on thillu mullu. it is done by illayaraja. y dont u go and check in raaga or musicindiaonline.com pls go and check. By MSV has done some great songs. i agree. but thillumullu is IR. Rakangal 16, thillu mulu thillu mulu is definitely IR. In thillu mullu song if u listen to the music carefully u can easily figure it out. it is ilayaraja.

  No man.. i am owning a copy of that movie from 1983. i watch tht movie for more than 20,30 times untill now. every single line in tht movie enaku mana padam. after this argument i just play the title to check who is the music director. its IR.

  Recently I happened to see the hindi version of 'Chinna Thambi' *ing Venkatesh. [Anari]. The BGM at several places were the straight lift of the original with 5% modifications. 'Povama Oorkolam' tune was just the same, but missed the original punch. I dont know who was the MD.

  I think the songs in Kathal Rojave, a remade (or stolen?) version of Dil Hai Ki Maanta Nahin, were not bad. Good work by IR. The original also had few good ones.
  
  And, to realize that the song (dhak dhak) that made hindi Beta a national rage was a straight lift from IRs telugu hit just makes me mad. I dont think IR got the credit.

  wat a confusion?! ... i verifed at dhool.com and it sed that the music for ThilluMullu is by MSV...aargh! ... guess MSV/IR themselves need to clarify!

  NO need of mediator.. MSV and IR has worked together for many movies.. engiruntho vanthan, Prashanth's movie (canot recall the movie name.. sujatha also acting in that) etc,etc.. lets say this is one of those movies :) . I varified it in musicindiaonline also but in dhool says it is msv.

  Mahen, Thillu Mullu is by MSV. 100% sure! IR's first work with KB was Sindhu Bhairavi. (IR worked for Kavithalaya earlier though, with NetrikkaN where SPM was the FD)....Remember I'm an 80's guy:-)

  C~P: Let Mahen have the last word -- until he himself realizes MSV is indeed the MD for Thillu Mullu. Thillu Mullu, Thanneer Thanneer, Poi Kall Kudhirai, Agni Saatchi are all KB movies whose MD was MSV.

  Mahen: Yes, like I remarked earlier "raagangal padhinaaru" is a trademark MSV song. Glad that you agreed it is by MSV. I checked on Raaga.com and found, as I had expected, to be by MSV.

  Thillu Mullu is definitely MSV. Listen to the interludes for example. It is a "dead" giveaway.
