  I agree with The Fan. While MVU's songs by IR's best standard, is ordinary, if you compare it with any of today's songs (esp Deva, Sirpi and co), it stands out.

  There is an article in this weeks "Kungumam" about Raja's latest trip to Maldives along with director Gokulakrishna for composing for his film "TIME". Raja spent some time in photography(his usual hobby). Raja was so mesmerised by the beauty there. The director has said that Raja composed about 30 tunes and asked him to select any thing he likes. The director was so moved by Raja's pace and the dedication.

  I found that a few movies are not represented in the film news Anandan's list. One is the movie 'Illaiyarajavin Rasikan' and a couple of other movies I could not find.
  
  I think this year IR has about 30 movies? That should bring the total upto 760! I don't see any reason why IR cannot reach the 1000 movies. He is continuing to be fresh and giving 30 tunes to the director of TIME movie you can imagine there are still another 5 movies possible that very minute.

  Hi IR+VM fans,
  There was a rumour about IR and VM.
  Someone said that Kannan was trying hard to bring
  IR and VM together. It seems it didnt work out and
  now the same Kannan is directing a film and MD is Deva.

  before reviewing the Desiyageetham album., i would like to make a one line comment on this album ' only IR can do such albums & this one is simply the best in raja's latest works"
  I read in some magazines that this film is very serious & as the distributors were not ready to take a risk in buying this film., cheran was forced to add one commercial song to this film with ramba & Co., we can locate this song easily in this album - 'ladies special.,' in my opinion this is the song that spoils the whole album & thank god., this comes last., for those who plan to buy the album., my sincere advice is to be ready for this song., this song features sujatha & Erica., lyrics by palanibarathy with tons & tons of english words& i can't find anything special inthis song.Please listen to all other excellent songs & be happy.,
  Hariharan's 'en kanavinai.,' & KJY's 'desiya geetham., ' are the main competitors for the best song of the album & with his experience & the lyrics by arivumathi., KJY wins the race ., the song is excellent., i can imagine a large crowd with torches & Arivals in their hands moving towards a target., the lyrics is very good with powerful lines like .,' gandhiyin kaiththadi aayudha sandhaiyil poottathu yaar ?'& the wonderful chorous used by IR is the Pluspoint of the song., it goes like this 'jai jai bhartatha matha., vandhe matharam.,' KJY sir., varushaththukku oru song intha mathiri paadunga poothum.,we'll be great.,
  'En kanavinai.,' by Hariharan is another excellent song in this album., this time hari does no mistakes., gives valid pauses between words & in my opinion this song is one of his best ones in tamil.,Vasan gives a lot of 'vendum's like 'paatti paal vitra kanakkai computer pathiya vendum.,' & typically represents each indian & their desires., chorous is fine & IR's excellent tune & great violin work are very succesful in bringing the required feelings to our hearts
  'Naan vaakkappattu.,' by sujatha is a soft melody by IR with Palanibarathi's lyrics., Sujatha resembles a typical 'gramathu girl' & the tune slightly remembers the 'oorariya peredutha.,' ( saadhu - music Ilayaraja ) song., but IR has used a great tabla work which remembers me his songs in '80s., hope IR gives some more songs like this.
  'mannana poranthavuga.,' & 'appan veettu.,' are the 2 Short songs sung by pushpavanam kuppusamy., i don't think his voice will suit Murali., but both the songs are good particularly the chorous in 'mannana poranthavuga.,' but i think the problem with the new singer to IR's crowd is that his voice seems to be highly stable.,if this continues., he'll not get a variety of songs from TFM & will fall suddenly like suresh peters ( remember him ? where is he now ? )BTW i am eagerly waiting for the IR album 'kathal kavithai' where Pushpavanam kuppusamy sings a duet (?? Yes ??) with IR's introduction to TFM - 'sowmya'
  'nanba nanba.,' & 'annal gandhai.,' are the songs sung by IR.,lyrics by vasan & both are very nice & IR's voice fits naturally to these songs.nambinaal nambungal - intha songs ketkum poothu i really felt bad about our political systems & our Politicians who are one of the main reasons for india's current status.,
  Cheran should feel proud for selecting IR for this film & after listening to this album., i think i should see this movie.Again i repeat - only IR can give such albums & don't miss this album.,

  A great news to all IR fans., i am sure that u all will remember theIR's golden period in TFM & are longing to have songs of that standard from IR., here comes an album for U - 'thalaimurai'.this album contains no complex instruments or orchestrisation., Pure IR brand music - excellent tunes., proper use of chorous., wonderful works in violin & flute & the result is a great album by IR., don't even think of missing this album.,
  this album has 6 songs - 4 of them telling about 'vaarisu'., i think the film is based on this theme.the first song 'enna petha raasa.,' has 2 versions., one sung by IR & other one by sunantha., lyrics by Arivumathi.IR version is a 'thaalaattu paattu' .,the tune is very nice & brings tears to our eyes as i was longing for this type of songs from IR & finally i got it ! This one features an excellent flute work & simply becomes No.1 in this album
  Sunantha version of this song is a 'soga paattu.,' this is also a nice song., personally i am very happy to hear sunantha's voice after a long gap.,
  The song by arunmozhi & swarnalatha starts with a dialogue 'enna paattu paadare nee ?., ithu enna yugam theriyumaa ?., beat yugam.,' & the song is a typical example to beat oriented songs., Arunmozhi sings very less where swarna does a good work., The tune mixes with the beat nicely & IR uses some miruthangam & nadhaswaram with western instruments.,however the tune has some similarities with the music of 'rangeela re.,' from ARR's rangeela.,
  'thathi thathi.,' is a great melody song., a typical IR one., Sujatha sings nicely but remembers KSChitra some times., Vasan's lyrics are very good('thottil onru aadum veedu poonthoottame.,) & the music score before the first saranam is very nice which features a virtual competition between violin & flute.
  'velli mani thottil.,' written by 'Nandhalala' starts with Arunmozhi's enthusiastic 'thogaiyara.,' then it mixes with IR's favourite tabla & Arunmozhi does a good work in this song., IR & Sujatha are the other 2 singers., Chorous appadiye thaalaattukirathu., & i have 2 questions on this song - one. why this song has so much 'ammans' in lyrics ?., two. some female voice which comes before second saranam is very nice & i am sure it is not sujatha.,can some of u help me., the voice is very nice & i am very eager to know the singer.,who is it ????
  'Enga maharani.,' is another good number sung by IR & Srinivas., God., this man srinivas sings very nice., i think this song is for 2 brothers who try to convince their mother who is very angry with them for some reason., Song is again tabla based & is a best song to end this album.,
  It is a 'Worth buy' cassette., buy it & be ready for a different experience !

  I got to listen to "Desiya Geetham" and IMHO folks the man only manages to scale newer heights !!
  There is the amazing Raja stamp in all the songs..
  
  Like Naga said, the KJY and Hariharan songs are the best, but personally I liked the Hariharan song because the orchestration was excellent, especially the flash of fusion he introduces in the first interlude where the typical gramathu singing by some female vocalists is mixed with western beats. Hats off to the Maestro !!
  The flute is used extensively in this song and so is the bass guitar in the second interlude !!
  But I felt that the flute sounded more "synthetic" like in ARR songs...though I am not sure !!
  
  The KJY song brings back memories of the "Manitha Manitha ini un vizhigal sivanthaal..."
  KJY is singing about the struggle of our leaders and Raja uses the sound of marching feet to awesome effect in both the interludes...So what?, many may ask..but you have to listen to the song to sense that feeling.
  "Pullarichu pOchu-nge"
  
  The 2 songs sung by Pushpavanam are about the present state of affairs in our country...corrupt politicians, bad roads, and about the ration kadais. They last about 2 mins each, but both have excellent foot-tapping rhythms, esp. the "Mannana irunthavaha mannannaikku nikiraange" song. I loved it!!
  
  "Naan vaakapetta.." is a stereotype Raja song, guess he could have made it sound better, but the highlight of that song is Sujatha. Great singing.
  
  As usual thalaivar has sung 2 numbers ( same tune , different lyrics). Reminded me of 100's of his older songs !! :)
  
  And I am surprised Naga, that you did not like "Ladies Special"...forget the "enjaay, enjaay" call, but I thought Raja has proved a point in this song with some synthesised sounds of his own!
  
  Overall, a good album and a great buy for any Raja fan !!
