  GOPURA VAASALILE recording was good in the compilation such as Kathal Kavithaikal.., Thalatum Poongatru.. (a superb song). I don't think VR 16 was a good recording in the movie compilation.

  I can recommend one recording shop in Madras where you can get old albums especially IR's. They have provided me with every album I asked so far including IR's 70s hits. I can assure that you can get every IR album from there.The shop is situated behind Anna statue in Mount Road and between the Head Post Office and Ritchie St.

  I bought a Sony MD recorder (JE510) few months back.
  That's SOny MD Bundle 4 (which is a combination of a recorder deck, walkman-tye player and a few blank MDs).
  
  I am totally thrilled with my MD. :-)
  Great sound quality. Virtually undistinguishable
  from a CD.
  
  I am waiting for the price of blank MDs to drop.
  It's hard to find them in retail outlets..
  I mailordered a whole lot from Japan recently
  and got them for slightly less than $4 per blank.
  
  In the process of converting my tapes to MDS..
  It's going to take me a long time..
  
  BTW, there are a lot of minidisc web pages..

  Thanks for the info on MD. I got excited about MD ever since I came to know about when I was to Japan 2 years ago. I was having Kenwood UD model earlier. Last week I bought a DENON system. Mini in size but it can challenge High-end systems. Amazing clarity! There were other models of DENON not available in Asia. In Japan, I saw there were lot of other recording media and various model of Denon, Kenwood etc. Even high-end system are sold in the road-side shops there :-) Even if it starts drizzling the sellers do not care much. Only selected are exported out of Japan especially those that they consider old are new for us.
  
  Let me not cause digressio more about music systems. Shall all of us discuss more about MD and other technology in the old topic "Technology and TFM", which I touched up to bring to main topic now. I will put my thoughts about it there.

  Rajaraman>> Sorry for replying late. The shop in Singapore where I am getting all the old IR collection recently is near Kaliamman Temple in Serangoon Road. I do not remember the shop name or actual address. It is 2nd or 3rd shop to the right side from the temple. It is wholesale shop for some CD albums. For the old songs, recording is not bad, it is quite cheap. Some of the collection I do not see in other shops like Mustafa or others. I really see a lot of good combinations better than Oriental or Pyramid. But, I have bought most of them as separate CDs or not-so-worthy combinations 3 years back having paid more then :-(

  Yes. Actually I own more titles than previously mentioned. I have Inreco, pyramid, lahari, Ragam 72, Mil, EMI and Bhasky. Among those, I found that OR has much decent recording.

  Thanks for giving info about ORI CD's.I have got the foll CD's:
  1.Mesmerising Yesudas,
  2.Enchanting Yesudas,
  3.Moonlit Melodies,
  4.Melody Queen Janaki,and
  5.Rajadhi Raja / Punnagai Mannan.
  
  As you said the recording is Decent.The songs selection is not also bad.I found all of them as nice collections(ones which i got).I will most probably buy other nice ones later.Mano do you know were i can get the other manufacturer's CD's listed by such as Inreco, pyramid, lahari, Ragam 72, Mil, EMI and Bhasky.Do you have any Good collections in them which you can recommend.

  Pyramid markets Inreco, AVM and pyramid CD's. There are many stores in Toronto. Bhasky is not the best one. Bhasky sometimes releases Pyramids copy rights CD's and the recording would be really bad. For example, 'Neruku Nerr', the recording was poor in that CD's. There is a home page for EMI which is called as Sa re Ga. I don't know exact URL, but I can't get you later sometimes.
