I have been thinking that VM was better than ARR.
Just kidding.
GV I am happy to know that at last your doubt

It is funny to compare an a lyricist with an MD

Noble Souls:
1.Have you listened to Maxwell's Embrya. I think it's the second or third song. It's cool lift for ARR's Vandemadaram's "Maa Thuje Salam".
2. This first song in Maxwell also, in combination with Ace of the Base's " All that she wants", turns out to be the " Telephone mani pol.."
3. I was listening to an old Tamil duet song: " Thanthaikku Oru Piravi, Thaayaarukko Iru Piravi, Koduthaen Marupiravi, ... Kanna, Onnai Petraeduthaen Marupiravi". I am not sure which movie it is, but the tempo and voice seemed it is of Gemini Ganesan movie. This song is nothing but " Mustafa, Mustafa, Don't worry Mustafa". (Could any oldies fan say which movie it is from ?)
Comments Welcome.

All along it was said that Anu Malik (ahem!!) is scoring the songs for Ashoka (Shahrukh, Santosh Sivan film)... Even the official site said so.
Now take a look at ARR's interview to Times of India:
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow.asp?art_id=278699863
Now, who's bluffing? What is the truth afterall? I would be happy if Anu Malik is not the MD. He's so pathetic.

ARR is candid. WTG !
---------------------
Would you admit that your music had started sounding stereotyped some time ago?
To some extent I plead guilty to the charge that you have mentioned. My first film Roja was very futuristic. After Roja I tended to be very repetitive and stereotyped as a music director because most of my films had numbers which were dance-oriented. In the past three years, I was very keen on working on period music. I could get that opportunity with Lagaan. You see, it is difficult to set your mind to Chennai audience and Mumbai audience. I do confess that I was struggling to come out of the rut in which I started finding myself. It was very difficult to come out of the rut in which I had placed myself"

Anu Malik's music has an earthy feel to it, reflecting the Mauryan times. Sivan said the music element would also be more acceptable to Western audiences, especially since it was set way back in time. "A song-and-dance routine can be difficult to accept in a modern film, but it's easier in a period film. Besides, music and songs have always been part of our heritage."

Looks like what ARR said in the Times of India interview is untrue!!!! What went wrong? How did Anu Malik manage to replace ARR?

In all probabilities 4 releases from ARR is expected this Diwali - Maniratnam's Kudai, KB's Paarthaale Paravasam, Azhagam Perumal's Udaya and Saran's Alli Arjuna. Unless, few of them think of postponing their releases to say, Pongal! Alli Arjuna is supposed to have scores from ARR's 12ka4 with some new additional scores, while the rest of the three will be new numbers out and out.
And I think Mitwa from Lagaan lost to Sandeep Chowta's 'khambakht ishq' in the MTV awards this year. Pity, cos Sandeep's song was inspired - from 2 sources!

who is best VM or ARR.
who is best VM or IRR.
1. songs are influenced by music. everybody should admit this.
VM does his job perfectly only with ARR and IRR.
but he is not perfect with other MD's.

Anu Malik with Ranjit Barot by his side is going to compete with ARR very well. AM lacks the modern rhythm techniques but he is okay with tunes. Ranjit will help him out on these and ARR is going to see some good competition.

A quote from a ARR fan from another forum...
"I LISTENED TO ONE SONG FROM UDAYA(pleeeeeaaasssseee dont ask me how i got to listen to the song...ppplease ...)the song is MINDBLOWING....amazing is not the word...the opening has a wonderful feel....(i heard the scene is supposed to have somebody doing namaz and the song is a "mansion song", meaning its taken in the triplicane mansions...sorry abt non tamil guys... tamil guys would know whats meant by triplicane mansion)the song is sung by Sukhwindra Singh....and its called TIRUVELLIKENI
RANI....meaning queen of triplicane (which is an area in chennai dominated by muslims...that accounts for the namaz opening) AMAZING song..."
Not sure how true it is. We'd know in any case, when the album releases!

This week had an opportunity to see film Roja in Sun TV.During the "ponnu paarkum" scene a BGM comes which is exactly the same tune as "vellai nathiyey unnul ennai thinam moozhgi aada vidu vetkam vanthaal"(Telephone manipol song).
so that telphone song tune(charanam) was prepared by ARR during the Roja times iteself.Might be he was having tons of tunes before coming in to film music !!

Give us a break....did u see the influences of ARR's "Chaiya Chaiya" and "Ramta Jogi" in all the so-called chart busters of AM notably from Aks and Yaadein...

peeps...I noticed that too and wanted to post it in this forum, but forgot! You could also find the tune of Uzhavan's 'raakkozhi rendum' in the scene where Madhubala finishes arguing with Nazar in the military camp!

Latest Junior Viakatan says that ARR had given 3 songs (apparently the tamil versions of 3 songs from 12ka4) to director Saran for the movie Alli Arjuna. And Saran showed the picturised songs to ARR and it seems ARR was so impressed with the picturisation that he agreed to compose 3 fresh tracks for the movie, apart from the bgm!

peeps, I posted this way back when Indian was released. BTW I heard ARR has tons of music tunes stored in his computer. He just plays around with them.
Even IR had done this for couple of telugu movies. He used songs as BGM. One Kanaka mahalakshmi recording dance troup song was used as BGM in other movie.
