Hey guys/gals
The latest additon to TFM, Mani sharma's Narasimha has just been released.! Would any of u like to share u'r thoughts on the afore mentioned?
My first thoughts on the album as overall isn't pleasing at all. Manisharma allegedly have a reputation for having close resemblence to that of IRs style. But from what's offered on the album, there's nothing similar except for one song (Kadhal Araro!!.. quite catchy one too.. although sounds much like one of those 90's hindi songs). Apart from that one song.. the rest are...Mmmm not worth mentioning!!!
cheers..!

Phew ! this discussion is going into telugu film industry.
For the record, my friends say that Ramana Gogula is one of the music directors who sings all his songs (and has horrible voice) and like Annu Malik never scores the background music of his films !! how can we compare him with MS (Mani Sharma) who gives excellent BGMs - in Telugu no MD has ever shown any interest in BGM (unless thaliavar IR is the MD) - to Ramana Gogla?? i think we should stick to Tamil Film music.
Any comments on the BGM of Narasimha?

Subbu Narayan,
Narasimha BGM was OKay, Not so great - But you can't do more than that for a VijayKanth puratchi movie :-)
I think Devi Prasad (Guy who released 'Mr. Devi' Album in Telugu) did the BGM for RamaNa Gokula's tamil debut Badri - He sung three songs in the movie.,
I heard from my H'bad friends that Pavan kalyaN insists on RamaNa Gokula singing all the songs in his movies :-)

Mani sharma is good in telugu. Telugu audience are differnt from tamil audience. telugu audience/and the films are mass oriented, and beat oriented. Tamil films need smooth and melody. He needs to cater differently to different audience. ARR learnt the hard way - his first few direct pictures in telugu are a disaster. Only IR has done successfully. Mani Sharma needs to learn the ropes otherwise he will be history in tamil

ooh man . swami,
a sweeping generalization ... "telugu audience/and the films are mass oriented, and beat oriented" remember, most of IR's and KVM's gems were in Telugu ... everyone has a share of beats and melody ...
coming to the topic,
Mani Sharma is quite a capable MD .. and he caters to the tastes, that's it .. he is also very capable of strong melodious scores .. listen to 'Seenu' .. or even telugu 'khushi' ...

I did'nt mean to undermine ManiSharma's capability. The telugu Khushi is better than Tamil - in terms of songs, BGM.
I listened to Mani Sharma's telugu melodies - in each album he has atleast one - are not recognised. For eg in Deviputrudu - there is a song 'Akasam loni ..' - a fantastic song. does anybody remember it? The same song, if in tamil - would be a chart buster.
I can give you many examples. In Mrigaraju - a chiranjeevi starrer- a soft melody - 'ee satamana' - a classic, but went unnoticed. A general album on Mohan Babu - RR Chowdary - 'allade allade' - another terrific song, went unnoticed.
I checked with my telugu friends - they say something like Samarashiha reddy or narasimha nadu as his best - all beat and mass songs - basically foot tapping. Hence the generalisation.

good point. Manoharam audio is excellent - though I do not understand the lyrics, but very pleasant and nice combination of ethnic and western music. But the audio is not a hit, adn I am sure it will be a great hit if it had been in tamil. Am I proving my point?

well, swami ..
in order to explain your questions, it's got to do more with the economics of the movie biz. All the movies you mentioned, the movies were not commercial successes. These days ( post IR and with greater awareness) I don't think people would make a movie generally a hit if it has good songs. So, all the songs you mentioned went unnoticed. accepted. When your telugu friends tell u only NN or SSR were good songs , this speaks about a group who are simply not musically inclined and would only buy a cassette if the movie is a 'hit'. So, there u are. and btw, a small sample space shouldn;t be used for a mass generalization.
thnx.

Swami,
The lyrics in manoharam are the one the best written. The problem was that people compared Manoharam to Roja and said that the music paled in comparison. Its was an inappropriate comparison.
y?? 's point is right, after IR's era, most telugu audiences sort of lost touch of what good music is and only are going by movie power. I hope this trend does not continue.

NagaS,
Maestro Raaja had to write music for a film starring Chiranjeevi directed by Ramgopal verma. It did not take off due to various reasons !!! However Raaja scored a few songs for the movie.
Later those songs and a few of Manisharma's songs (these are also from a movie not either not released or switched off) were released titled "Vinaalani Undi". Cassettes are available in Hyderabad.

i heard that the first film that Manisharma was MD was for ramgopal varma - a film calld RAATh. it did not have any songs, only background. Apparently some body told me that maniratnam was present at the preview of RAATH and enquired who the MD was.
The nxt break was with Chiranjevi - chudalaniundi - a runaway musical hit and put chiranjeevi in #1 slot. mani sharma is the only MD in telugu to have given hits for all heros. I hope he does the same to Tamil industry also.
i think his next film is with Vijay and the expectations are very high.
