I want to make a point here. I think many of the TFM fans here who don't appreciate Deva very much and who say Deva copies don't buy any of his
CD's or tapes, including myself. I've never bought a cd or tape by deva in my life, and I hope I wouldn't in the future. I CLAIM DEVA COPIES.
CAN ALL OF YOU GUYS WHO CLAIM IR COPIES AVOID BUYING IR'S CASSETTES OR TAPES, SAYING THAT HE COPIES?

I think the song "Muthama Ennai moodi vaikka vendum enna sattama" of Sigaram is very similar to "Devi Koondhalo brindhavanam ...". Is it right?

Absolutely perfect Murali,
whenever I heard either of the two songs they sounded very familiar. Now when I recall them after what u wrote I'm getting the connection set right.

The only thing is that the above is not what Ir copied but what was copied by SPB.

Murali,
that song from sigaram is a copy of a rhyme (comes twice or thrice in the movie) that goes on in an english movie which I saw a month or so back in Star movies.

Raga, could you pls clarify what you meant by "the above is not what Ir copied but what was copied by SPB"

Chandy,
I think Raga was referring to the fact that SPB was the MD of "Sigaram" which had the song "Muthamaa ennai" which sounded like 'Devi koondhalo Brindhaavanam" as pointed out by MuraLi. Since, SPB was the MD, that song can find no place in this thread.

That's why I had clarified that the MD was SPB
Sorry for the late reply.

IR has two similar tunes in :
1. Yaar veetil roja poo poothatho - Idaya Koyil
2. Nilavu ondru kanden en jannalil - ?movie
Can someone confirm this?

Hi diwa,
after looking at your posting something really hit the back of my head. The two songs sound very close and similar to each other. Though I'm not a qualified critic, the sounds are to similar to each other.

I have made my case about copying earlier. This posting is in keeping with finding similar tunes of IR as in the last previous posts.
"ennathaan sugamo nenjilae" and "kannaa varuvaayaa raadhai kaetkiraal" sound very similar to me.
"sammadham solla vandhaai" and "dhaevan thandha veenai" also sound very similar.
what do you guys think?

We can see some Ilayaraja's tunes being similar. With this we can never say that he copies.
After all he has to fit in all the tunes in the available 7 swarams.
Whereas, Deva takes the complete song from elsewhere and gives it in his name. (Ex: Ricky martin's Song, Sayonee from 'Junoon', etc)
I suppose DEva should put 'Music Collected by-- DEva' in his film titles.
Am I not right?

Ravi:
Unga statements are very intriguing ! Your first statement -
"You want posts that question the intelligence and intent of people posting in this forum, to stay?"
can be interpreted in two ways.
1st interpretation:
Do you want me to retain those posts from people who are questioning the intelligence and intent of other people ?
2nd interpretation:
Do you want me to retain those posts which show a lack of intelligence and display questionable intent ?
If you read it as "You want posts that (make me) question the intelligence...", you'll understand my point.
Of course, the first interpretation is more intuitive ! But your second statement prompted me to raise this point !
"Some people might derive pleasure from being called names"
Generally, the first portion of a statement sets the tone for its import and faster readers increase speed from left to right and end up skimming the latter part, as the meaning is often understood from the context and tone of the sentence. Of course, the same goes for people who write fast too. So I initially read your second statement as "Some people might derive pleasure from calling others names" and when I read it again, I found that you had meant the exact opposite ! Your observation (masochistic ?) itself is interesting and quite a unique one w.r.t this forum !
So neenga solla vandhadhu enna na....?
:-))

Srinath, first point you should learn to talk properly with other peoples you gave one statement
in your early post that i should get brain.i got good brain if you want also I can give.i have lot
learn manners first before advising others to get brain

Ragumanfan:
What's the second point ? :-))))
Yempa yenna vambukku izhukkara ? :-)) Spend some time in the DF. Get a hang of how people discuss (how people trade insults in the DF is an art by itself, and you need a lot more posting experience to get that far :-)))). Once you start posting in a language that others can understand, you can start trading insults with me. Let me try to put it in your style:
first point lot of spend time in df see other posting getting experience then posting good posting then posting irritating posting scolding other or advising other to getting the good brain or any brain. no posting ir bad posting in arr discussion then comparing deva with ir in arr posting make no meaning only heaping ridicule on thy self - understooding ?
But let me make it clear - your cold-blooded murder of the English language is the least of your crimes. I can understand your lack of fluency in English (heck, I had to learn it too). But to irrationally post unrelated criticism of IR in every thread you participate in, is not excusable - no, there is no way that you can attribute it to your poor communication skills. In that case, you ought to be prepared for mass-ridicule heaped on you. And since I have had my fair share of that too, I don't hestitate to give back in spade-fulls. Criticize IR by all means. Go ahead and commit the ultimate crime in the DF - that of comparing IR and ARR, you'll find you hands full. But think about the topic (not even twice, ungalukku oru think-ey podhum) before you post.

on: Wed Apr 21 09:48:58 EDT 1999
Srinath: When I put in a winking smilie, I *mean* it. I was just kidding. Don't try to read too much into the second sentence... but it is not entirely meaningless. :-). BTW, since my statement didn't have the (make me) part, ur first interpretation is obv. what I meant. So don't put words in my mouth.

on: Wed Apr 21 11:39:43 EDT 1999
Whoa ! Ravi ! I never questioned your intent :-) It was just a very interesting way of constructing a sentence and I pointed that out ! A twist in my own sentence construction - "...your observation (masochistic ?)..." does not imply that your observation is arguably masochistic ;-) I was just wondering if you thought some people in this forum were masochistic, i.e., "...derive pleasure from being called names..." :-) NOM !

Srinath: Haven't you ever wondred about that? ;-).

Ravi: I have certainly wondered about that with respect to one particular gent. Why, I even asked him in this very forum! Sadly he chose not to reply:)))
