Does awards mean anythings?

Hello all;

They following Singers / Md are awarded with the following no of national awards;

1) SPB = 7 National Award
2) KJY = 7 National Award
3) TMS = no national award
4) PS = 6 national award
5) SJ = 4 national award
6) KSC= 3 national award
7) IR = 3 national award
8) ARR = ???, not sure
9) Hariharan = 1 national award
10)Jeyachndran =1 National award
11) M.G.Sree Kumar = 1 national award
12) KVM = 4 national awards
13) MSV = ????, not sure
14) Unni Krishnan = 1 national award
15) Swarnalatha = 1 National Awrad

do these awards indicate the talents of these artists??

pls discuss.

  My mistake was that I should've added a 'vice versa' to my message at the end....I think it sounds rather biased :-)
  
  But, even if I have reservations on Azhagi's music deserving a national award (personal opinion, of course!), I sure think IR deserved the award for Bharathy. It was really unfair that he didnt get it for that movie...thats one of the best scores of IR in recent years.

  Best actress for shobana "Mitr my Friend"...mmm...I had a chance to see that movie. Shobana did perform well..But giving national to that is too much. Was she better than "nandita das"? What happened to "Vikram". Any how, Enjoy this years Big Joke !!

  Technically (according to the so-called rulebook)
  Nandita wouldn't qualify as her voice was dubbed.
  Perhaps that's why Mani Ratnam insisted on Simran lending her own voice for Kannathil MuthamittAl, just in case she is considered ;)
  Ditto for Vikram as it was a remake, not an original.
  
  However I still can't figure out the exception: Thevar Magan's song being awarded twice (2nd time for Anu Malik's copied version). The Hindi bias has always been there. One can't deny that.

  Why should one worry about awards? We all like singers/music directors for our own reasons. That is it. Dont give a damn about any awards...

  I agree on this! But why give these awards undue importance? I will say this even if my favourite singer/music director gets the award.
  
  My policy is this! If I like something, I like that just bacuse I like that. Not for any award that has got..or not bacause majority likes that. Also If others like something else, it is fine.I wont expect others to like what I like. I wont care what others like/dislike. Everyone has the right to like/dislike whatever they want... Ofcouse if you dont like something it is just that u dont like the product/art and not the person who has performed that per se and hence no harm or nothing bad about it.
  
  Of course the awards are inspiration for most and it is some recongnition for ones effort. But you see everything in the world is not and cant be fair!

  Some kizhavans sitting there and giving away awards randomly means nothing! It is upto to the fans to decide whether it is junk or not. We have our own taste. So much influence is there. Lagaan happened to be nominated for Oscar. It helped ARR to get this award. Full credit goes to Amir Khan for lobbying!!

  yeah.. the music was awful.
  that was the worst piece of sound i'd ever heard. wonder y ppl call it classic.
  if arr got that award it was thanx to Aamir khan.
  he's doin a beautiful work by lobbyin!!
  us fans.. we can differentiate a classic from trash.
  Lagaan deserves to b thrown into the dustbin.

  " Remake movies wont be considered for awards " . I also surprised , because of these exceptions ..
  1.How Virasat was considered for award? examaple for "payali chumman " (orijinal Inji iduppazhaga - brought award to SJ) song chitra got award . The same movie got some other awards also .. If some one else sing the same song again in other languages like bengali or marathi, it may be awarded again .. possible ..
  2. SJ got the award for tel. film "sitara", again the song is the dubbing version of "dhoorathil naan kanda un mugam" from nizhalgal ..
  My intention is not to critisize the singers or the judges.. These are the proofs that, dubbing movies also considered for awards ..
  Poor Vikram.. atleast he could have been considered for special awards ...
