Thanks, I will check the site ASAP...here is my last Question for today (I hope so).
If this "Vaarana Muga" is same as Koteeswara Iyer's “Vaarana Mukha”, then has IR changed the tune?.

oosai,
Vaarana muga is similar with some improvisations but the Shri GanNanatha repeated towards the end is IR's.

I saw AZHAGHEE yesterday, and i recollect the writeup of MALATHI RANGARAJAN IN THE HINDU,(both editor and magazine had failed to appreciate the GREAT MEASTRO all these years). but now she had written
potraying that none can match the meastro in rerecording and fshis ideal use of instruments.
yes raja has done another unmeasurable acheivement of film music,
its history and remarkable history,
the way he had handled music for this great film projects his super genius quality in handling film music.he makes audience shell tears
many times with his gentle touch of flute and violin

I don't trust the Dinakaran news bit about Kamal.
The writer doesn't even seem to know the difference between Kannada and Canada:-)
In 1995, when Devar Mahan and Nayakan was filmed to rave reviews at the Toronto Film Festival, the Toronto Star, the most reputed paper in the city, reported that Kamal was going to act in a Canadian movie production of a Indo-Canadian author's novel. The movies was to be called Such a Long Journey. The movie came out a few years after that without Kamal in the cast.
This might be another such story.

The music is by Raja-need i say more! I hope all Raja fans will understand! The song 'Un kuthama En Kuthama' is especially touching! The BGM is as only Raja can score!

well, looking at the news in many sites, it looks like *none* of the movies are running in theatres now - mainly cause of the ladaai between actors and TV, resulting in no advt.....

Guys,
In Trichy and Kumbakonam, Kasi is running much better than the Pongal Releases.
Azhaki is getting better after a sumar start. Good reviews and songs are fetching it into the theatres.

I saw the movie on a well recorded Video Cassette. It is a reasonably good movie in Tamil in the recent times. It is a realistic movie, although didn't make as much impact as Kutti ( that was so realistic, having seen exact real life situations I was heavily moved my the movie, by the apt portrayal by each and every one and a superb score by Maestro. I mean BGm was just fantastic.
About Kaasi, the songs were more appealing in the movie, although I criticised about HH voice, the songs tunes are so native I couldn't resisit listening to the songs several times, each and every tune is so good, reminiscent of some of the old IR songs.Undoubtedly Vikram and most of the other crew have done a great job, I have always liked vikram right from Ullasam, I missed Meera.
I just sort of tried to view three IR scored movies with blind man in a leading role , wit respect to the BGM, songs, and the movie itself ( although all three are entirely different in the story lines.
1.kaadhal Oviyum, 2. Raaja Paarvai, 3. Kaasi
1. Kaadhal Oviyum, a nice movie from BR/IR/VM combo. GREAT music by maestro, one of the few bests of IR/BR combo, although every one of their combination was a great feast except Vaalibame va vaa ( the songs were no bad though). Some body had mentioned in some other thread comparing IR's work for song tunes In KO vs Kaasi. Each and every song in KO are mesmerizing to listen any no. of times even after 20 years, with so much of freshness. I don't know if somebody will have similar feeling in listening to Kaasi's songs 20 years from now.
BGM in KO was very good compared to Kaasi, for some reasons I thought IR has underplayed in BGM in Kaasi, although there are few sequences with some very good BGM. The entire movie has (Kaasi) so much of emotions, three chartacters mainly Kaasi, his father and his girlfriend, I was expecting even more grand music in BG by Maestro, having seen IR in several movies how he moves the soul with just his great music.Or it may be the pace of the movie which is so well narrated that I might have failed to notice the BGM very keenly, although BGM being unconquered fort of IR it invariably stands out even with one time listening.
The blind charecter in KO is a classical singer and not a musician, a lot of sequences, where IR had done a fantastic job.
2. Raaja Paarvai, perhaps one of the best scores by IR which is yet to be reproduced by even IR with similar content. BGM a landmark I would say in TFM, I had taped lot of BGM from the videocassette, I think it is still available on the web in either Raajangam site or some other site, not sure.I remember reading somewhere, IR was expecting a national award for this movie, although he brushes away usually when talked about national awards for music. The emotions of the blind musician are so well presented in the BGM in evry frame. I wish Kamal/Singitham/IR give one more such movie.
3.Kaasi, the BGM, I mentioned already. The movie is so realistic, may be it doesn't create any void to be filled heavily by IR's BGM, although it would have definitely made even more impact I think. The song picturisations are so nice, I was wondering how come there is some much variation in the music for the "En mana vanil" and the "Athorathile", if you see the movie it is well understandable, by the way the song sequences are picturised.
Songs are great to listen, but didn't evoke the same feelings as how KO or RP did and continue to do.
Waiting eagerly for the latest "Azhagi", especially after reading the reviews,
Can any of the HCIR fans ( NagaS...did u get to see the movie yet?), write details about the BGM of "Azhagi"
Long live maestro and his great music

Folks,
I am currently hearing the songs of Kadhal Rojave. Unforgettable music by Maestro in this movie. Also SPB has done great job singing the songs in this movie. Can't help wondering how
the songs of Kaasi would have been with SPB's
voice instead of Hariharan's.

I was recently blown over by two of the recent films, by Maestro's BGM:
1) Kutty - where the girl is in the shopping mall and sees the toys around (terrific violin piece, very baroque)
2) Kutty - BGM at the end of Thankachi song - this comes in the end credits. A very very moving piece (you can hear this in www.raajangahm.com/real/songs/kutti/song3.ram). I like the tailpiece where a theme from Chinna Maharani is played. Raja shows his 'adhangam' on this society in this song. Very good lyrics too.
3) Bharathi - the scene where Chellamma finds that Bharathi has bought books with all the money king has given him. A beautiful WCM piece with flute and violins.
Long live Maestro's music!
