EVEN DEVA'S MUSIC TAKES SOME TIME TO APPRECIATE, I SUPPOSE.
WHY DON'T YOU PEOPLE GIVE THE SAME BENEFIT TO LESSER MORTALS LIKE VIDYA SAGAR AND CHIRPI: BUY THEIR CDS, LISTEN TO THE SONGS 100 TIMES AND START LIKING THEM.

Cheenu:
i agree with you...anything HJ compose is crap for ARR fans...and when IR fans say the same about ARR's music, they cant tolerate...
have a open mind...enjoy the music... from who ever it comes..from wherever its inspired....
just my views...

Andrew Webber wants to work with him...MJ has worked with him.Dont think Mortals like them wld choose to work with ARR if his music was crap. He didn't direct music in any new scenario..He started from where MSV or IR or as a matter of fact any MD started..How did he manage to get into the minds of some bigger ppl in the music industry while others didnt?? So u mean to say if I do a Music Album today U'll buy my CDs and listen to them 100 times so that U like them?? Encourage true Talent!!! Don't argue arbitrarily for the sake of it...Try to accept facts!!!

Guys
Go an watch star movie listen closely to the background at one stage you will start hearing Titanic music(actually the titanic music was when the ship broke into two pieces)rahman used the same piece in star..If you have Titanic sound track album listen to that one more time refresh yourself and see the Star movie...

Well said TrueTalent and KRR, it seems like some people are just plain sourgrapes. They don't question why in the first place, millions of fans are fans in the first place. It's not like we made a vow to arbitrarily support ARR the moment he was born/ we were born. We buy his cds or download his songs, bcos they are great and we know they will be great due to his past record.
In my personal experience, Deva's songs only sound nice the first time u hear it, if at all; after that it becomes increasingly unbearable and doesn't have the freshness that ARR's music has.

Common this concept of listening to a song until
u like it ..doesnt sound refreshing ...
i cant take this ....if u like music ...
i should like it in the first instance ...
its like love at first sight .....
u dont have to listen a hundred time to like a
song ..if its worth ....its the first time
or never .......................

Yo Its Me:-)) Well Said...There's no need to force anything so many times. It's like eating neem leaves every day and someday u will get used to it to start feeling it's sweet.

Who said anything about listening to the songs for 100 times before liking them. It's an exaggeration cooked up by ARR haters.
Yo its me, maybe u r forgetting tat love tat starts at first sight also turns sour consequently. And if u r going to pass things which u don't like at first sight, u will be missing out on many of life's goodies.

love at first sight is very sweet - but it doesn't last for long (most of them), arranged marriage doesn't sound sweet at all - but that's the one that last for a lifelong (most of them) - see the statistics...
even a music teacher at school, who loves all that 'high stuff' like mozart, bach and beethoven told us, that good music u can identify when u only like it after hearing it many times...and then u will like it for a long, long, time...till ur interest in it disappears (but after a long, long time)....and on the other hand...not so good music u'll like at first hearing, but after hearing it a couple of time, u all of a sudden lose interest in it...(like some of devas song, they sound kind of cool first time u hear it, then u can't hear it anymore after 4 or 5 times hearing it)
this is a fact which music experts have found out (sounds funny, but is true)...so don't say it's only good only if u like it at the first hearing...cause that's just wrong!

Well people still listen to the ARR songs that u mentioned. And I am pretty sick of listening to those particular IR songs that u mentioned, except maybe Mouna Raagam. But that's not the point. Just bcos IR's songs are listenable doesn't mean that ARR's songs are not or vice-versa. But Deva's songs are not and we were replying to Cheenu's posting.
Nobody said anything abt IR so far. Strangely, I don't see such stupid postings by ARR fans on IR threads but IR fans always make it a point to visit ARR threads and make their ridiculous statements. If u really can't appreciate ARR, then why bother visiting threads about him and making such comments? It looks like IR fans can't tolerate ARR fans' admiration of his music. But fortunately most ARR fans have better things to do with their lives than writing silly postings denigrading IR.

As so many people in the thread have already said,
every music director has some talent. Only that some
have a lot of it, some, only to a limited extent.
So, if you like A particular song of Deva, listen to it.
If you don't like a particular song of ARR don't
listen to it. As far as IR-ARR comparison is concerned
IR has proved that ha has an unparallelled knowledge of
WCM and ICM which he blended quite exquisitely.
And the music today's generation wants is digital
and beat-oriented. ARR has been giving what they want
with suitable Indian touch. The style of the two
MDs is different and so there is no point in comparing them.
But one has to agree, it is not so difficult for
another ARR to arise than it is for another IR to
come. ARR hasn't done what IR did. And IR has also
not done some things which ARR did. But comparing their
works, with respect to the greats in their respective styles,
IR far exceeds ARR. But considering it is ARR, he
has good chance to do atleast 80% of what IR if he
he is more interested in ICM

Do you belong to the following category?
Another insecure IR fan coming to a ARR thread and claiming in his/her logical(?) way that IR is better than ARR and makes himself/herself feel good.
If not let me know how?

wow this is really a good forum..
well i am a middleman here guys i accpet both forms of music whether from IR OR ARR..both have thier own unique styles....well the sore point of the discussion is ARR fans arguing that the songs have to heard more often to be liked...now that doesnt make a good arguement...its like u are making a mindset of your own to like the songs after repeated hearing.i think it naturla for any fan of his.but try thinking it this way...the reason ARR songs doesnt appeal in a long run (which of course u guys will find it hard to agree but its true)..is becos since you made ur mindset to like the songs after a while ..u no more give consideration after u have liked them ..and the process just goes on...
i like ARR's SONGS FOR THE feel he has in his sngs..his songs are one which i would sing if givena chance..its got its own uniqueness ..but its fleeting..IR melody touches everyone...thast another different story...but guys pulease dont argue here for repeated hearings to like a song...try that for deva and vidyasagar..he is good though...i found deva's citizen songs damn good after repeated hearing any comments??

WhyNot,
You are correct. There is a definite bias toward IR and most people do not want to just enjoy and comment the most recent music created by MD's. All they want to do is constantly compare AR with IR. No doubt, IR created wonderful music and was profilic. Very few can disagree with that. But to many, that's not the issue. The issue is AR's popularity.
