BB,
ARR allowed PRAVEEN and PRASHANTH to have all the tunes of hindi film Doli sajake Rakna...for JODI..Same manner he had given the rights of Pukar,Thakshak,Earth songs to the same group.VM has written lyrics for ARR tunes without having any joint session with ARR.Star music is soon to hit market and most of the songs are sung by SPB.Charan and Vasundra Das..

Talk of the town
- MUSIC WORLD had an unusual visitor on Tuesday. Not a pop star exactly, this time, it was a Minister. Mr. Peter Hain, the British Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs was more than amused as mediapersons made him strike a pose with `ghatam' because they thought it would make for a better picture than the Minister holding the guitar.
There was music on the course as well. So the young Devan started out with his `Kandukondain'... number`Smyai', and then Divakar and Karthick, talented musicians jammed together with Devan and Sunita Sarathy.
Sunita wrapped up the Minister's visit going karaoke to `Genie in a bottle'. A few formalities later, like the prize distribution for the singing contest organised earlier, for the Music World customers, the Minister made a quick exit.
- SO `PAARTHALE PARAVASAM' is coming. So what's new you may ask. This. The K.Balachander film is, after a long while, going to pave the way for a rare meeting between the titans.
A. R. Rahman will be composing the music for a KB film after Duet, which hit the screen more than four years ago. The shooting for the movie will commence in January next and is expected to go on for around four or five months. Besides the fact that the movie will bear a K.Balachander halo around it, the striking combination has raised quite a lot of expectations in Kollywood circles. That Madhavan will be starring in the film only adds to its aura. Incidentally, Madhavan was signed for the film as early as when he was shooting for ``Alaipayuthe.''

Hi!
It is true that ARR is great in fabricating samples. Most of the time he relies on a superhit song and adds his imagination to it. For ex. "Unadu Rajamgam ithu thane" from Muthu will have similarities with "Ullathil Nalla Ullam" from Karnan. You have to careful to observe the simililarity.
Also "enveetu thotathil poovellam kettupar" from Gentle man is similar to carnatic song "Nadha Vindu Kalachi Namo Namo", "Madrasai sutthi parka porane" from May Madham is subbu arumugams villu pattu tune.
But from his point of view, the directors he work for the money he take, he has to be sure to hit all the songs. If one has to apply full originality, it is difficult to hit all the songs. So in my opinion he is relying on this technique.
But one should also accept some really great original songs like "Pooralle Ponnuthayi" from Karuthamma from him. It calls for lot of talent.

If you mention ARR's film songs as a fabrication of carnatic songs, then every film song will have to come under this category.

Hi Sreenivas,
Alli Arjuna is the re-launch of Bharathiraja's son Manoj who starred in the disastrous Taj Mahal. It is directed by Saran of Amarkkalam and Paarthen Rasithen fame and music is by ARR.

Thanks for the info Ichi.I thought Manoj was hopelessly bad in his debut film but clearly some in the industry disagree.Whats amazing is that ARR is sparing time for the venture!
Btw is that Rajni starrer confirmed?

The most interesting part is that, Manoj got the cinema express award for the best new male artist. One thing for sure could be, there were NO debutants last year or spl. force being applied by BR.
Maybe, manoj can get a training from KamalHassan on how to change his face (so that his original face is completely hidden) and allow someone to dub him to make his next movie watchable atleast.

There was no composer on the scene, then, who could rival Ilayaraja. The equations changed drastically after the composer fell out with Vairamuthu, noted lyricist and director. Vairamuthu started looking for another music director and in came Rehman
Nonsense. IR and VM last worked together for "mudhal mariyAdhai", I guess, in 1984. ARR tered the scene in 1992. So, IR ruled TFM alone for another 8 years at a time when VM was penning dialogues and lyrics for dubbed movies. Another stupid statement was, as pointed out by Sabesan, Kamal Hassan being a die-hard fan of Rahman. In all his interviews, Kamal had mentioned that IR is his all-time favourite composer and also, before "Hey Ram" he worked with ARR only in "Indian".

That article is a big humbug.
Let me see the things in the proper light.
Firstly about the Rs.3 crore Rahman charges, His charges are not just for him, his charges are inclusive of the fees he has to pay his singers, musicians, technicians etc. And he charges for the album. Moreover, even the worst of his album makes more money than what he charges. So whats the point in the cribbing?
K.Balachander, moves away from ARR? Then what is this announcement about KB's re-entry with Paarthaalae Paravasam having ARR as the MD?
Next is Mani. Mani has used Deva etc. for the movies he produced. He has engaged Karthik Raja for a movie he is producing and not for a movie he is directing. So where is the question of him ditching ARR? Will ARR starve if these directors dont engage him? I dont think so. Neither will he show disrespect to these Directors as Mr. Aditya wishes.
Next comes Rajnikanth. Rajni has not announced his next movie as yet. So how did this guy find out that ARR is not in the plans. Rajni personally made statements after the muthu incident of stone throwing in ARR's house, to his fans. And Padayappa came after that. There was no stone throwing after Padayappa. Recently KSr has also mentioned that Rajini will announce his plans only after January, and who will direct is even not known.
Regarding the IR thing, it has already been pointed about in this thread. So no need for more points.
Kamal liking ARR? This fellow must be joking. Nobody else has been standing behind IR like Kamal has done. Why did he go to Shanker Mahadevan instead of IR? May I ask? Is it to make SM do half the movie and then kick him off and bring in IR, like he did for Hey Ram?
Rahman is busy in Bombay dreams, he has a few Hindi projects, yes, but he has more Tamil ones and has even told that he will not move away from Tamil projects. But why should he stick only to Tamil Films? Does he have some contract or something? I wish Rahman goes around proving his strength in the Hindi and Western world as much as he has changed the Tamil Film Music scene.
To summarise, this article by Aditya, is a collection of cribs, and lies. Nothing else.
