mani: I wouldn't accept that. Hariharan, Kavitha krishnamurthy are all from south (tamil). They have been widely accepted in the north. Also, for that matter, Srinivas also has done quite well in north (1947-Earth) and a masterpiece from Raja ko Rani Se Pyar Ho Gaya. Yesudas's hindi pop is still in top of charts. All of them have done equally well in malayalam & telugu as well.

I have also listened to 12ka4 and is is really good. Might not be his best of albums but it stands out really from all dholak, damru & violin stuffs of usual hindi songs.
"Dil ki baazi laga" is really good.

All these stinking idiots have is jealousy.

guys,
One of ARR's better scores is going unnoticed, thanks to the stupid PR agents of the movie, "Love You Hamesha". It is a rework of his earlier Tamil score 'May Matham'. But all the WRONG songs are being aired on TV while the gems are not!!!! As a result it isn't getting the attention it deserves.
The equivalents of
"Palakkattu Machanukku" and 'Aadi Paaru Mangaatha' are being promoted which sound really absurd in Hindi while gems like 'MinnalE Nee' and 'Margazhi Poove' are completely ignored.
'MinnalE' manifests itself in a female voice (Mahalakshmi Iyer is excellent) as ' Yaar Teri Bewafayee Ka' and 'Margazhi Poove' becomes 'Ek Ladki Thi', sung well by Kavitha Krishnamurthy. Both these songs are conspicuous by their absence in the count-down shows or promos aired on TV.
Ridiculous scores from 'Ashiq' and 'Jodi No.1' are being repeated countless times, and are elevated to the status of 'Hit songs'!! God save the ignorant masses from North of the Vindhyas!

You are right Peter Pan...I read a review in the papers on LUH's music...it was really bad...more like jealousy I should say...there was no mention that it was a rehash of one of his earliest work. THe bloody author had the audacity to say that ARR was beginning to sound the same...when it is extremely clear of the high-quality of the engineering and the creative compositions...well we just have to accept that north of the Vindhyas some of them are green at ARR's success..

But one thing..the choregraphy of the songs look really stupid...all gloss...ARR had composed the music for the situations they were utilized in...looks like the producers of LUH wanted just ARR's name and used his earlier work and tried to fit it in wrongly...

Peter_pan, Lone ranger:
May Madam was composed for some situation and some songs suited to the situation as Minnale and Margazhi poove. Now this HF director just look the songs but did not relate it with right situation. I aggree that "Yaar Teri Bewafayee Ka" wa well song by ML but SPB's tamil version is great and his voice is apt to the tune and situation. It has a very nice violin piece and I don't know how th HF director has filmed the songs altogether.

My post was not concerning the situation or anything (which actually can be seen only in the context of the film), but the way the album is promoted.
How can they ignore such melodies as the ones I mentioned and repeatedly bombard the TV audience with Shweta Shetty's nonsensical mukkal munagals and full of abaswaram? Is it because the song has 'beats'? Which again, will be reason enough for the jealous Anu Malik campers to pass this one too as a repetitive score!!!
For them, EVERY RAHMAN SONG SOUNDS THE SAME!
ARR's Pudhiya Mugam's Hindi version, 'Vishwa VidhAta' too fell in the hands of third-rate promoters and as a result went unnoticed.
A recent victim in a similar situation is Karthik Raja, whose excellent score for 'Grahan' wasn't promoted at all!!!
- From: Common Friend (@ 203.197.141.183)
on: Wed Mar 21 10:55:46 EST 2001
Peter Pan :
'Pudhiya Mugam' was converted into 'Vishwa Vidhaata' with out ARR's knowledge. He was obviously upset. He has mentioned this in one of his interviews. Even that film was also not promoted properly as suresh menon did the same for PM.
Comming to Grahan. I will say that till date it is KR's best. (I haven't heard DDD fully). It actually charted no.2 in ratings (Superhit Muqabula). The film's release prolonged indefinitely and eventually the songs died. Should have been a turning point for KR. Missed chance.

Peter Pan,
What do u mean..
"God save the ignorant masses from North of the Vindhyas"
Only an ignorant guy can make a statement like this.
AR is great but North of the Vindhyas has seen many better peers in the past.
The problem with us in south is that for a large part HFM dominated be it MDs or Singers and we kept waiting for even small chances to proclaim
this so called superiority.
Then we suddenly had some songs of IR being
copied in Hindi and we went overboard on this issue.
With AR's new style (new in the indian sense only)
and popularity we are doing the same.
If things are good people automatically recognize.
Check Roja-Bombay- etc.
People can rationally determine for themelves about which music is good.Save ur judgements for
u and folks of urkind.

Yup!! Its ridiculous how the lack of proper publicity killed brilliant melodies of "Pudhiya Mugham" and "May Matham" in their hindi incarnations.... When I first saw a trailor of LUH on TV I couldn't believe at such ridiculous use of great songs.... same happened with PM...
But, just that one reviewer expessed his opinion, however ridiculous, its not right to put the blame on everybody north of Vindhyas.... and as far as feeling "green" at Rahman's success is concerned, it seems you aren't in touch with facts... I can bet my life on the fact that no. of rahman's fans in the north is much greater than in the south. But that's not the point really... Point is "greenness of envy" comes when you are talking about two different groups.... And whatever image you might have about this country being divided by the Vindhyas, I assure you here, in north, most people don't even think about such differences.... every music fan feels proud of ARR and his achievements as he is one of "us" indians... Vindhyas notwithstanding....

By the way, It seems Lagaan's music will release on April 6, at least in the US.. I'm not sure about India, but it should be soon... and the feedback of all those who have seen the "teasers"/ Trailors is BRILLIANT.... I haven't heard of even one person who is not extremely excited just by listening to these 30-45 seconds pieces of music... And somebody actually got hold of a pirated CD of lagaan... his words - "This surely is unlike anything that ARR has done before... And I dare say, much ahead of everything... somewhat like 1947-Earth but much much better than it.... Each of the songs is amazing!! Udit has sung the most melodious song of his career and Lata never sounded much better than this...." BOSS!!! This is something!! I am already dying of excitement... LAGAAN!!!!!!
