Instrumental music by Illaiyaraja has to sound the way Paul Mauriat interpreted most of popular western pop hits of the 70's.

Hi Cheh, Jurazu and other Fans:

I can't believe it. I am the biggest fan of Franck Pourcell. I am looking for his 'In a Nostalgic Mood' album in CD or Vinyl. CCan you help me? I seriously love Kostelanetz and Mauriat. I have many other orchestras too and I love Andy Williams with London Philharmonic!!!

For me, the best ever orchestral album is by Franck Pourcell,his Latin AMERICA. Next comes his own 'In a Nostalgic Mood'.

Percy Faith, James Last, Mantovani, Tommy Garrett and other orchestras that transcribed wonderful European melodies for the orchestra are also my favorites.

Franck Pourcel died a couple of days ago.
I just wanted to let everyone know of his loss. He was 87.

whoever started this topic! wonderful! yes you are correct. IR interprets music the same way as PM and the sound arrangment and orchestration methodology are so similar!

If u randomly pick an album of PM u will be shocked to hear the similarities with so many HFM songs.

Long time before like in 1985 or so ananda vikatan published a small news item saying that paul mariat and IR sound similr and quipped "whether IR's fav. ppl were paul mauriat"

Could someone pls clarify ? I've heard instrumental versions of IR's songs being piped in the Chennai International Airport..it was something like PAul Mariat's ..it is a commercial album ?

Really I heared some works of Paul Mauriat. I love his unique composition. All people work in field of music should learn thier works. He added to the original songs special appeal.I heared about 500 tones for PM, but I am still need more to hear. I wish to know his E mail.

Franck Pourcel is big teacher. Richard Clayderman is master of the the piano.
France shoud be proud by those talents.

16 Japanese albums of Paul Mauriat

2 new mp3 editions (licensed by RAO) were released in Russia. They contain 16 Paul Mauriat original Japanese albums (1966-1972). If someone has not got still original Japanese CD sets, then there is unique chance to get them now. See all detailes:

There is a Paul Mauriat Biography DVD which comes with 5 DVD'S.Can anybody tell where can I buy it.I am looking for some reliable online store.I looked the same in ebay ,but not sure how much can I trust the Seller?

At present there are only 6 Paul Mauriat DVDs. They titles below:
1. La melodie d'amour (El bimbo) (live concert '82 in Japan)
2. Classics elegance (easy listening video)
3. Best of France (easy listening video)
4. Gold concert (live concert '90 in Japan)
5. Memorial live (30th anniversary concert) (live concert '96 in Japan)
6. "Sayonara" farewell concert (live concert '98 in Japan)

Original 5 DVDs set "Biography" (all regions) was released in Taiwan. It contains DVDs with the titles "La melodie d'amour", "Classics elegance", "Best of France", "Gold concert", "Sayonara" farewell concert".
Also there are different editions of the same DVDs. They were released in South Korea, China, Malaysia.

DVD " Memorial live " (region 2) is only original Japanese edition from Pony Canyon Japan. Brazilian DVD "30th anniversary concert" (all regions) made not too good (there are video and sound noises).

Original Taiwanese 5 DVD set " Biography" and Japanese DVD "Memorial live" possible to get from HMV Japan (http://hmv.co.jp)

Thanks for your reply.
I also looked at the Japanese site but it has little info in English.
Any way I will keep trying diffrent sources to get the Biography concert.
