Nation Awards for the year 1998

National Awards for the year 1998 has been announced and Tamil film draws a blank.
Mammooty gets the best actor award and Shabna Azmi gets the best actress awards.

  i don't care much for awards but if 'screen' could give best actor to ajay D/zakhm then surely he must have done good.
  ambedkar is still not released and yet....
  yes, MGR got it for( i've read ) 'Rikshakaaran'!! great songs but also surely great COMMERCIAL acting and surely that is what awards is all about though i have also read that he gave it back!!
  we know sivaji deserved it for years in a row like richard burton so they both belong to that special club 'above and beyond the awards circus'.

  i think mammootty is total crap. what he shows off is some over confidence typically reflective of his audience. I really wonder how such a montonous and on unspectromatic (lacks variety)actor has been accepted as a great commercial success even. compared to him Prem Nazir was ways ahead in all kinds of roles despite the child like streak in Nazir. Mohanlal was more versatle, but let me tell you both Mohanlal and Mammootty cannot in a 1000 years match the talent of Kamal, leave alone Sivaji

  New Delhi (based on Almighty by Irwing Wallace)
  Sangham
  Rajavinde mahan (Rage of angels)
  Chitram
  Kireedam
  Dhasaradham (surrogate woman)

  has been the actor for the nineties. kamal is good but let us not kid ourselves, m'lal is also very good.
