This is the same ARR, who gave mega hits until 2000, but since then there has been no album of his up to his standard, what are the reasons? I think when ARR came into the field he created a new era in music world, this trend became very popular, cos, most of the ppl loved it, BUT EVER since the debut of ARR, every single MD apart from IR, Vidyasaagar, followed the foot steps of ARR, hence ARR music did not sound unique no more, could that be the reason for ARR's recent flops ?
I strongly think so.

"people losing interest" are people who never had positive interest in the first place.
As I said in the beginnning, ARR's downfall has been predicted from day 1 by these people.
I guess they just have to pray harder for ARR's real downfall. :)

His recent albums were a flop. But he didn't have a DOWNFALL yet. This is my opinion.

"any way, I knew this will be hot topic :))"
This summarises Raghu's intention for starting this thread (and another umpteen threads wit a similar theme--u only have to dig into the archives for proof). Raghu has worked out that with a majority IR fans in this DF and a smaller number of ARR fans who r nevertheless fiery and strong-willed, provoking ARR fans and playing IR fans into his hands wud guarantee a "hot topic". Hence he starts umpteen ARR bashing or IR-sucking-up threads (see how he can't avoid mentioning IR in his topic) and when he has adequately disturbed the peace of both IR and ARR fans, he will smack his lips in satisfaction and emit his oft repeated, "i knew this will be a hot topic" statement. I am glad tat except for the handful of multi-identity fanatics, most IR fans have not fallen for the bait.

Raghuvaran-ji:
May be you want to just say that the real reason behind ARR's so called "DOWNFALL" (I had a big guffaw upon reading this) might be his not using SPB enough! The greatest SPB with the manliest, bestest, deepest, bassiest, versatilest, melodioustest, xyzest, abcest, alpha-beta-gamma-est voice. :-)

--------------------------------------------------
What is the meaning of "did not sound unique no more". I thought two negatives make a positive.
:-)
Also,as every MD followed the footsteps of ARR, and ARR did not use SPB, it means that every other MD did not use the greatest, bassiest SPB, right!
Gosh, you are funny.

come on, i don't think the topic heading is "just another pure hatred on ARR". There is definitely some juice in the argument. Lets take it as a case. It is definitely not one that could be rejected by the learned bench at prima facie. Lets discuss it. May be the "judgement" like topic thread is not correct and it could have been some thing like "Has ARR's downfall begun?". If we feel that in such a way we can take this thread and discuss (sensibly), then lets do so. In such case lets not see the motive behind the thread(even if we feel the motive is obvious). But if most of us feel that its just a hatred thread then let admin close this, lets post the request to close this why should we unnecessarily argue? No need of hue and cry on this. This applies to all such threads in this forum.
Now since I have felt that this thread has some juice. I would like to putforth my two cents.
Since ARR is not a person who scores music for every films of tom, dic*k and harry; and since ARR is very choosy in selecting his album and gives only quality product that is liked by everyone then why, nowadays more and more voices are raised saying "ARR is nomore the ARR a few years ago. He is infact losing his grip in the TFM"? As someone pointed out that, apart from his Lagaan(a Hindi film) no film, oflate, has made a big impact on the people. At the same time I am completely with the point that Still ARR is a big name in cassette sales.
Wait..these two are not contradictory statements. ARR is still a big name. People, even now, do believe that his albums will be to their taste. So in this anticipation they still buy ARR cassettes. I am the one who never go and buy ARR cassettes when they are released (for that matter i have not generally done so for even my beloved MD, IR songs). But his KM songs were not so oft repeated by people like Alaipayuthae songs. Though most of them do have KM cassettes and CDs with them? IMO latest complete sweep hit of ARR was Jeans(might be i missed one or two such albums here). But i think he(ARR) has done many such scoped(?) movies, but having not that much success as he had for Jeans. Could be Boys will answer me. Let us wait and see. But as of now the trend of the "ARR curve" is not at the peak and not going up also.

"There is definitely some juice in the argument."
But of course. Why does it not surprise me tat kupps finds this topic very juicy. I was too quick to praise IR fans. I retract my statement. btw Kupps, why did u not post anything in this thread: http://www.newtfmpage.com/forum/25940.05.25.37.html

did u read "This applies to all such threads in this forum"? oh! yeah! u wud have thought what kupps means by "such" is only ARR related..right? u chose to reply only to the first line. all i can say is i pity on you.
why didn't u post there in that thread???
btw, i think u missed that i was also not finding motives behind the thread there. nor did i picked a few lines on some one and diverted the attention.
i think u praised the "most IR Fans" expecting them not to argue on the point...good! but sorry what to do this idiot(Kupps) didn't understand that flowery praise before posting. pardon me. i'm going to do the same now.
hats off to you...to provoke me now and then.

Now that ARR is topping every single MD of his time and his predecessors, our evergreen hero (or more commonly known as moderately hardcore IR fan) predicts yet again ARR's downfall.
Kupps, keep on praying. :)
Also, you may wish to come out of the well (called IR club of TFM) and look at the real world. Looks like you have bought the lie of the HCIRFs here and really believe in this. LOL!
My friend, the REAL world does not consist of Awes and Speakers - in the real world, ARR is soaring higher and higher.

Kupps, good. get lost. tho u'll be breaking poor Raghu's heart, he will be counting on ur likes for a hot topic.
btw, u also did not find me in "that" thread, praising the topic and calling it juicy.
Aalavandhan, well said. Some people here are seriously deluded. They make statements like "nowadays more and more voices are raised saying "ARR is nomore the ARR a few years ago" [of course, now that each HCIRF uses 10 different ISPs to post, we hear more such voices.] & "the trend of the "ARR curve" is not at the peak" [isn't it funny how people can build fantasy curves without a single fact or figure.].

Folks/Music lovers!
Whether bashing or not nothing would affect the universal appeal of ARR's music. Otherwise how one could explain that "ARR is among the top 10 earners of Asians in UK".
Every time ARR answers his critics not by words but by baffling tunes. Even the ringtone music for a few seconds has made magic to boost the market of AIRTEL. That,s it.

I wish this thread does not grow further. It is utter stupidity to talk about the downfall of ARR. Though I consider IR as the Greatest, I do believe ARR is much talanted. He does a good job.
I think it is ARR's ignorance of TFM that he is not giving hits in Tamil.
Next to IR he is far better than any other MDs in the Industry.

Chacha Kalam gives kids a treat
- By Our Special Correspondent
New Delhi, Nov. 14: On Children's Day, President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam gave 1,400 children from across the country the experience of a lifetime.
At a function organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries here at Vigyan Bhavan, the President climbed down from the stage brushing aside security barriers and mingled freely with the children and answered their questions that ranged from the utility of nuclear weapons, ways of ending insurgency, diverting defence funds for development and whether he was satisfied with his life after becoming President of India.
The programme started with a scintillating song composed by young maestro A.R. Rahman. The lyrics for the song were taken from President Kalam's book Ignited Minds and his poem Song of Youth.
As a choir of about a dozen Mumbai schoolchildren, who were trained by Rahman in a short five days, sang his lines "Small aim is crime, we are running out of time," the President was seen nodding appreciatively. After the performance, he rushed to shake hands with Rahman and the choir. "Today, Rahman has given a song to the country," the President said. Later, he made all the 1,400 children recite the Song of Youth with him.
Right from the start, Dr Kalam set protocol aside. He refused to deliver his keynote address from the dais, and kept walking up and down the stage while delivering the speech extempore with the help of some slides. He did not read the from the prepared speech that was circulated to the media and corporate leaders present. Finally, he decided to get down from the stage, giving a hard time to his security staff.
In one of the significant replies to one of his questioners, the President said that while India had nuclear weapons it had pledged not to use them first against anybody. "But to defend our nation we may have to use it. Our neighbours have nuclear weapons. We have to ensure the security of our people and the country," Dr Kalam said.
The President's message to the children was clear : "To become leaders of tomorrow, you have to work hard today; excel in your studies... I feel when young minds are ignited, it will be a powerful resource... Behind failure there may be several reasons but behind success, there is only hard work."
