  I haven't heard the Badri song, I will. But the song, "september maatham" which you have cited as an example of unnecessary izhuppus and vettals is a stylistic call. It bothers you, it sounds fine to me. I don't see that as butchering Thamizh in the same way Sukwindar or Udit butcher Thamizh.

  one day we will probably reach your dizzying heights.at that time i will write what IR told me.and I wil not forget the smiley like you did.your posting did not contain any high funda stuff or complicated vocabulary-so dont blame me for comprehension problems.the problem was in the wording of your posting,be grown up enough to admit your misleading post.and finally, avoid that condescending tone in your posting.it is irritaing enough to be taken for a ride.to add insult to injury, you are accusing us of having problems with comprehension.

  I agree with you, It may be his style to sing tamil like that., But I am not comfortable when tamil sounds like some other language., losing its identity.
  
  But SM is better than Udit and Sukwinder., I fully agree :-)

  one of the most important aspect of singing is pitch control, as of today no one can match SM.
  
  1. there is no false voice usage till date.
  2. very clear pronounciation of the words.
  3. fullpowered singing. he works hard and involves 100% with every song he sings.
  
  He is the one of the best singer tfm has everhad.

  If I really wanted to be condescending and irritating, I would go to a thread dedicated to a musician whom I hate and post with the only intention of detracting attention from that MD whose monumental rise in the music world I can’t stomach. I would also begin discussing my favorite MD without any reason or relevance to the current thread and invent red herrings to throw the discussion off the MD I hate. I would also put down other people’s taste because how dare they not like the MD I like! Then when rebuttals start coming against my favorite MD I would change the judging criteria to “Number of movies MD-ed” because I know this is where my MD will definitely come out ahead (never mind that there are so many movies containing cross-pollinated songs from Thamizh to Telungu and vise versa because if my MD did it there’s nothing wrong in recycling!) And if all else fails I will cry the victim’s cry and act as if I have been the one who was wronged.

  Star - A.R. Rahman (HMV Sa Re Ga Ma, Rs. 50)
  
  A. R. Rahman has done it again... taken Hindi originals and recorded them with Tamil
  lyrics. This time the Hindi films are Govind Nihalani's "Thakshak" and Deepa Mehta's
  "Earth", and the Tamil film, the Prasanth-Jyothika starrer, "Star".
  
  The lyrics (Vairamuthu, Palani Bharati and Piraisoodan) no doubt, stand out, just likethe
  tunes. But if you are expecting some great stuff from the whizkid, and happen to have
  listened to the Hindi version, then you are in for some disappointment. But his argument
  would be that most South Indians might not have heard the Hindi version. Well...
  
  All the same, the songs make good listening. Like "Rasika" sung by SPB and Sujatha.
  But if you have heard Asha Bhonsle sing "Rang De" ("Thakshak"), then may be this
  might pale a bit. But there is pep in the quick-paced number.
  
  But the same cannot be said about "Machcha Machchiniye," sung beautifully by
  Unnimenon, ("Ruth aagaye re" from "Earth"). The folksy and rustic "Nenthukitten"
  (Karthick and Chitra Sivaraman) with some superb nadaswaram notes woven in, too
  rings a familiar bell. "Manasukkol Oru..." with a still young sounding SPB and Sadhna
  Sargam drips in melody, while "Thom Karuvil Irunthom" (Shankar Mahadevan) which
  has a classical flavour, sounds much better in Tamil.
  
  A great album... specially if you have not heard the originals! - very good.

  I was talking to ARR and asked him where he got the idea of recycling tunes and he said, and I quote," I was watching the Hindi remake of 'Moondraam Pirai' and the 'Hey Zindagi' song sounded familiar.

  new arr albums comes out...
  
  a group of anti arr : arr's "xyz" album sucks, he does not know music, he recyles, rescotters, recars etc etc...
  
  a group supporting arr music: no no arr is the greatest, he songs are good.
  
  anti arr group: arr still sucks, does not know music...any day ir is better.
  
  mean while, the album becomes a major hit....
  (this is known to all other people in the world than the members of the antiarr group)
  
  anti arr group: arr still sucks, does not know music...all this sales figures are hyped etc, he is pop based, rock based loop based zero based musician, a sound "mestri", he copies from dr.alban, compunder alban etc...

  Udhaya, I was reading your review and you have added harris jeyaraja in your most wanted list,
  You are wrong and underestimated him, as far as I know he is a good musician. He has potential to over throw many arr/Ir clones in current tfm scnerio, if not arr himself. It is high time arr comes out with some good stuff in tamil. I am beginging to feel that arr is wasting too much time in North, blindly ditching South which gave him this status.
  
  One more thing, dont waste your time in answering unwanted postings. We know ARR is good, it not (Y)our job to make people understand.

  What more do you guys think ARR can do ? He is giving novel arrangements in each and every song..middle-eastern, irish..etc Changes the singers..uses chorus..uses cool recording tricks (reverb/delay/filters) very impressively..now and then gives a carnatic style composition..It is as though a single person doing multiple genres of music ..Dont think this is a trick question ..which direction can he take now ?

  1. ir market went down because of his fight with VM.
  2. Tenali is big hit.....oh oh, till date many were telling it was big flop....
  
  We got to belive entire report or just igonore entire report...I know few are waiting to psot above 2 lines were false statements and all the other information pertaining to arr in the report was "nothing but truth". Have a ball..

  Don't try and say that ARR has done more for TFM than IR.ARR is coming to the end of his reign, so soon but IR is a longstanding genius who used traditional instruments and can cater to the whole age spectrum.ARR has produced great music, but he hasn't brought anything to TFM that wasn't there already.Please stop blowing your trumpets for ARR.

  comment - i will say its entirely nonsense.... as i said in some other thread, the article was written by either VM or some fan of VM :-)
  
  (anyway, Tenali, as a film was hit, was the album hit ? i have no idea..... but compared to KKKK and AP, Tenali was not of ARR's standard for sure).....

  Comment,Udhaya..u guys are a league above the junta here and mature enuf to understand the nature and limitations of this forum..then why talk to people who dont want to understand ? these petty things are for the pretentious lot ..let the self proclaimed audiophiles and know alls fight it out..whilst u continue to give us good things to listen to ( Comment ..Ur "kalyanam" song and 7 to 5 were really cool..keep it up man..)
