  just 2 days back I attended a music concert by SPB, He gave b'day wishes to IR and he talked about IR's mastery in folk, carnatic, western etc., and sang one song for each type as example ...

  NagaS - that answers the part that SPB is with IR :-)...... the other way around, hmm.... iam not sure..... i really wish IR gives atleast one good song in each album to SPB.... but most of the time, he seems to be giving the not so good only to SPB....

  Raja Rocks !!!!! Wow....I had almost given up hopes after listening to Devan....He still has enuf stuff !! This album has songs of all types...

  Ram: you are correct. still i feel that the MMG song doesnot have MMG feel. ennai enna seydhAi immediately reminds me of asaindhAdum mayil onRu. and oddly does enakkiNai yAringE tho the swara singing clearly reveals the ragam!

  Just wondering...anyone know where I can get a picture of Bhavatarani - Ilayaraja's daughter !? I've been trying to find one on the internet but to no avail.   Don't judge by the trailer ... I felt the same for "Unnaith thedi" songs, But in the movie it was okay !

  It was trailer only, but since the song is sung in a concert, I could see clearly that the visual is not edited, but there was some delay in lip movement.

  The song Ennai Enna Seithai starts with Simmendramadhyamam, but turns out to be a Raagamaalikai towards the end, it is a lengthy song...few raagams i remember now are....lathangi, Hindolam...

  IVANN is a versatile output from IR. As someone said earlier, the album is totally different from IR, and has something for everyone :-).

  Ram/hihi/cheithi, "apdi pakkiradhunna venam" is kalyani, but i guess the second interlude BGM has hamsanandhi traces...IMHO

  "Initially, Ilayaraaja was not serious when he composed the tune of the song. But, director Faazil took an immediate liking for the tune and had okayed it. Ilayaraaja didn't expect this at all.
  Finally, Ilayaraaja couldn't do anything about it. Faazil's desire and the time constraint had left Ilayaraaja with no choice. So, he finally recorded the song half heartedly. Ilayaraaja didn't hide his dislike from others. But, fate had a different plan. The song that Ilayaraaja had composed without any involvement turned out to be such a hit."

  I do not believe it. It has been my observation that if IR likes one of the melodious numbers he has composed. he will also sing the song in the album whether or not it is included in the movie:
  Examples - Udhaya Geedham Paaduven, Idhayam Oru Kovil, Naanaga Naanillai Thaye and so many others...
  
  Just the fact that IR also sang "Ennai Thaalatta Varuvalo" makes me believe that he was impressed with what his tune.
  
  May be he wanted to do some fine tuning which he probably did not get to, but it's very hard to believe he was totally umimpressed with the tune..
