  What did you read?
  FYI, Dhalapathi was a flop despite having Rajni.
  Agni did not run bcoz of IR's music but bcoz of a great story.
  :-) The nagarjuna film dubbed was "Ithayathai thirudathe" which was a flop.
  Pagal Nilavu is the biggest flop of MR. And music and box-office success have no substantial connection.

  I have no intention of starting a nasty IR-ARR argument. But your postings are so baseless and senseless and it seems it will iginite one.
  
  FYI Geethanjali was one of the grace savers for Nagarjna in Telugu and Idhayathai Thiridathe ran in Coimbatore for 200 days.
  
  Pagal Nilavu was not a flop but Idhaya Kovil was. But the irony is these movies had great songs, esp Idhaya Kovil. Agni Nakshatram having great story. Give me a break dude. A very simple and ordinary story. But great camera work and music by IR saved the movie's fate. So better know the facts before you try to post something.

  Idaya kovil songs are the top most best songs of ManiRathnam films till today.

  Looks like you are classifying all MR movies as flops. The truth is a majority of MR's
  movies with ARR have flopped (TT, Iruvar,
  Dil Se). I will not call Alai Payuthe a big
  hit. After Bombay, they are yet to give
  a big hit.
  
  And Sridhar, you are trying to sound
  neutral and unbiased but every posting
  of you indicates how much biased you
  are against IR. And the biggest joke is
  saying Agni Naksthiram ran for story and
  not for music.

  Mouna raagam was critically successful but commercially a flop. In coimbatore, it ran exactly for one week.It barely managed to run 100 days in madras.

  I am from coimbatore-shrini is correct.The movie was out of theatres in no time.After a few days the thiruttu videos came out-then the reviews.the movie never really ran in coimbatore.I remember seeing the movie in a grainy video.I have never seen it in theatre.

  i know that film ran very well in minipriya theatre. we can see the momento given to the theatre for the successful run.
  
  might be that that film ran well in madurai-tiruchi-nellai area, failed in coimbatore area and faired ok in madras area.

  The albums Iruvar did not show great results in
  sales. May be that's the reason ppl call it a flop. But, IMVHO, TT & Iruvar (in the order mentioned) are the best works of arr till date...

  When Pagal nilavu and Idaya Kovil came out, no one knew who MR was. Only after Mouna Ragam, he achieved his celebrity status. So from Mouna Ragam to Dhalapathy MR-IR combo was winning atleast to some level. They didn't have flops like TT, Iruvar and Dilse.

  MR used to get IR for 50 lakhs, then he found ARR to cut costs got him for one or 2 lacks (sic) then ARR got bigger for his boots with a one or 2 croRs, then he decides to beat a different rhythm - Dum Dum Dum with KR for maybe 2 or 3 lakhs. that is how it works with MR-IR-ARR-KR-all Rs.
