cram,
If that is a confirmed news, I am very much looking for the album, Is this one released already? After listening to "Friends" my expectations on IR is more and more on Malayalam movies. What a great score for the movie. Guys just go and grab "Friends" soon and treat yourself with some pleasing numbers.
Also "GummiPattu" , you just can not ignore this album as yet another folk movie, Three songs "Aasa machan", "Oorukku Thekkittu" and "ammiyila araichu" are really great with excellant interludes. Refreshing numbers after getting boredom with synth stuff in recent tamil movies.Don't miss this one too.

Hi Guys,
I used watch lot of people talking about the new releases of IR.Sometimes they even ravish about albums which are not yet released.
So i thought people would be interested in hearing to teh lateste releases. And to my knowledge I was the first guy ot host up teh "gummi paatu" songs.I expected lot of audiences for that.Alas!!!
It was a very poor performance. Is it due to
1. Many people already having the album in their hands?
2. Lack of interest in village based songs?
3. Or they just particpate in the forum????
No offense guys.I was trying to understand what others think and go along with the flow.
I am sorry if this hurts anyone.

Balaji, I am also guilty of the your accusation. I think I am too busy listening to IR other 3000 songs so I did not have the time to check out even his any new songs! Kummi Paattu reminds me of once again the losing days of tired folk sounds in this age of modern sounds.

bb,
I agree with you.Nothing new to talk about songs in that movie. If you look at the old responses there were lots of discussions about it.That is why i thought to put in my site.
Koothan,
YOu can never expect CD qaultiy in real audio songs.Although extreme care, hard work is taken to ensure some quality in it.already some of the webmasters have achived that qaulity in their songs. It takes lot of time and patience to get one song encoded with a superior quality.Anyway thanks for making that point.I will try to work more on it.
RajaFan,
No probs.Take your time to listen to the songs. These songs are provided to listeners who can't get hold of the new cassettes.Like me!!!I am living in a remote place(even within USA)

On the ohter hand, it actually takes less time. As I had said earlier, recording from CDs gives the best quality. My page will stand testimony to this.

MS,
I don't think IR's rare hits comes in so many CD's.It is alreadytough to get the cassettes even.I am having more than 350 cassettes. But the CD count is very less.
I agree with you.Recording directly frm CD is easy. But when you get it from cassette it needs lot of work. You will realise this when you start working on Goldwave.

R.B,
yes many IR songs comes in CD, you have to search for it. Old songs aren't that popular anymore, so companies hesistate release albums. IMO, CD's aren't that superior to cassettes, especially old albums. Infact, people make CDs from Cassettes (Many of the pirated ones). If you have the master Cassette (Metal), it's same as the CD.

Balaji,
Thanks for your efforts. I like the Gummi Pattu songs. I hope I am not offending anybody when I say people dont really like these kind of songs because it is not 'cool'. I dont care. I like these songs. Especially for the ethnic drums in them (BTW,check out the Festival Drums of Kerala CD). I even have bought new set of speakers just for better bass reproduction. You need to have good stereo system for IR albums. Especially for the bass guitar work. Even if the recording quality is good it is very enjoyable.

kiru/Balaji: I echo your sentiments. I dont think the gummi paattu songs have the tired folk sound to them. I have been listening to them for 2 weeks now and the songs are quite enjoyable. Especially
"oorukku thekkittu", "chinna manasu manasu".
Another set of fabulous songs from IR are
"thenRalai kaNduk kOLLa maanE" , "thannanthaniyaaga" and "chittu paRakkudhu"
from "nilavE mugam kaattu". In this album all the songs have terrific preludes. The kottankuchchi violin sounds and rich layering of violins make listening to these an aural treat. The pathos evoked in thannanthaniyaa is vintage IR. Classic muted rendition by IR and superb music make it one of my all time favorites.

Dear friends
Listened to NMK songs, 'Thenralai kandu kolla maane" one of the best in recent times , a must buy and listen album for all IR fans. I have not been able to participate in TFM DF for quite a long time, but when I looked back at old responses I was happy to see the reviews by many DFers about this album. Fans who visit this forum irregularly like me, summa kanna moodikinu vaangunga inda album (Nilave mugam kaattu0, by the way I saw the movie on video, BGM is good, movie is an average stuff tailor made for recent stereotyped characters of Karthik, nothing much to write.

Kiru,Gokul,NN,yvs mani,
Thanks for the feedback.I am immensely pleased.
Reagarding the album--We should all tune our ears and get ready for folk based music. If you listen to that album after listening to "sangamam" or jeans et--then surely you may not like it.
Anyway i am happy such albums are still under the priority list of many.

I am enjoying IR's recent songs that I picked up on my trip to India.
In "Chinnadurai", I love three songs..the one by Unnikrishnan and Devi is mesmerizing. The song by SPB and Devi "Pakkathil" is very melodious and the song "Unnai Pole" by SPB eventhough set in villagish background has great western classical rythm to it and excellent use of percussion sounds.
"Nilave Mugam kattu" is just fantastic...I am addicted to these songs. The song by Hariharan and IR and "Thannanthaniyaga" by IR are unbelievable. "Chittuparakkudhu" is a great song. The song by SPB and IR once agin has great WC background to it and is great.
I also love songs from "Rajastan". The song "Sorgathil" by Shankar Mahadevan is very addictive. "Jai Jawan" by Hariharaan with WC rythm is great. I love the song "Machan Machan" which is so brilliantly composed and well sung by SJ. "Pennendral" by Unnikrishnan and Sujatha is also very likable especially the instrumentation in the songs. The only thing about this album I don't like is the lyrics..probably the worst lyrics for any movie thus far..It is that bad..But still for the tune and music, this is one of my favorite albums.
"Kummipattu" is great. The songs I like are "Asai Machhan", Bhavatha's song, there's one song by Arunmozhi and Swarnalatha "Kuchu..."(I forget the words). Once again, great bold work by IR with folk songs.
Then with "kakkai Siraginile", all the songs by SPB are suberb with the one I love the most is "Kolakili". The song by Mano is a lso a very melodious song.
What amazed me was you had 5 albums released at the same time and IR has demonstrated such a fantastic variey which has been the hallmark for ever. All I can do is to thank him for the great music he is continuing to provide in the 23rd year of his career.
