hi friends especially srinAth,
in my earlier posting in which i said i was happy to find few people who have similar feelings like mine, i
meant i was happy to see that at least few people were able to see what kind of a pseudo-everything kamalahAsan,
oops... kOvappAdAdhInga, kamalhassan is and i wasn't supporting his speculation of the state the famous
personalities would be in if there were no rAjA. (kashtapattu sentence-a mudichchittEn :-) ) this is just
to set the records straight.
talking about oscars, i don't think movies which are not released in the US for general audience (unlike those
organized by small communities like the thamizh associations) could be nominated. i am not sure about this
info; i would appreciate if someone could take the time and effort to find if it were true.
any indian movie can be sent for oscar - ellAm will our pErkeduththify in the same way.

Srinath: Well said. Well, Vimal might not lose his pay-check to listen to IR. But I am certainly coming close to that, spending time on defending Raja and his fans here :)). Only to see such posts defeating me morally and ethically. Why, I too dont have a great opinion of Kamal and his postures. But to wish he rots in streets is not just sadistic but also a defective mindset. It aint do noone no good to "Kedu ninaichufy" .
Vimal, are you the same vimal who once , 'so objectively', tried to convince me that Raja's latest albums are not worth listening to , with reference to Veera Thalattu?

Hi!
I cannot understand why some people hate Kamal so much. He seems to be a very hard-working and talented guy immersed completely in movie-making. People used to say that MGR used to scr*w producers/artistes he didn't like. I haven't heard anything like that about Kamal. The only reason I can think of, for their hate, is that these guys are fans of the other big star. But that's no reason to want Kamal to be in the streets!
IR -- No doubt he is a genius. But should he do all the movies? Should we bring a rule saying that all movies should have the same actors, technicians, and music by IR? Many
people use other music directors. How come Kamal gets all the abuse? If ARR fans abuse Kamal I can understand but not IR fans. Have these guys ever thought that IR might have refused to do the music?
Oscar -- Kamal himself has said that Oscar is
not everything and that while Hollywood is superior to kollywood in technical aspects it is not in other aspects like story, acting, etc. It is the others who mention oscar everytime Kamal starts a movie.
Marudunayagam -- Kamal is definitely
inspired :)) by english movies. However I remember hearing about Marudanayagam almost 8-9 years back...definitely before Braveheart hit the screens?

Hmm. What is this forum getting to..people say abcf*gh , only that single '*' giving the otherwise blatant profanity a mask of passability. rajaG, you are the one to be blamed:)...you started it saying cra*..look what it is degenerating to. Now, tell me what does that dog of yoUr cousin's friend's neighbour have to say about you.:)).
And as for MGR ruining artistes he didnt like , and Kamal not doing that, well, is sanyone under the illusion that Kamal has the same amount of influence within the industry that MGR held in his hey-days, which were practically 75% of his career?

Kamal can act. But he is very much "inspired". Usually I have respect only for people who have atleast a semblance of originality. I dont hold Kamal in high esteem. So that fact that he is not using IR for his project does not bother me (even though I am a great IR fan).
I wouldn't be surprised that Marudhanayagam was inspired by BraveHeart. Kamal is quite capable of doing stuff like that. And he is the talented Mani Ratnam who can again do adaptations like anything and claim all India fame.
There is no respect for intellectual property in our country (same goes for the software business too) !!!

hey
why do indian actors make Oscars their ultimate achievement
it's just another american award ceremony.
Though Kamal is the best in recent times

guys,
The claim that marud is inspired from BraveHeart is not true as kamal had conceived the idea of marud well before BH hit the marquee.
Somebody had mentioned that his dream project was ponniyin selvan and when he saw BH bagging oscars he chose this subject. The fact is that he indeed had plans of making that movie , he himself playing arulmozhivarman and rajnikant as vandhiyadEvan (well, in those days rajnikant used to play some sensible roles). But that cudn't materialise bcos the novel was too lengthy to be made into a movie and cutting it short will make it lose its charm. Only then he shifted his attention to some other subject which he had named "amarakAviyam" .while collecting some info on that topic he came across a ballad about this character marud , which interested him .
He's called the MR of actors. How can one compare MR with kamal. His contributions to the field is phenomenal(Has MR contributed anything , in the first place???). He does get inspired by some interesting stories and actors. But he has always bettered the original.
Govind Nihalani himself said that kurudhippunal was far better than drohkaal and it was kurudhippunal which was nominated for oscars and NOT the original, drohkaal.
This means that he has all the talents to do things on his own and he doesn't have to depend on other's work to make his movie successful.
Neither nayagan (god father)nor mouna rAgam (nenjathai kiLLAdhE)can be compared with their originals.Tell me any product of MR that has bettered the original or any of his original work (if any ) that was successful solely bcos of him.
Worst of all , is the comparison with Deva !!!!
Just bcos he's made Lsubs the MD , people have gone to the extent of comparing with , of all the people, Deva!!
for all the Raja fans,
There has been no announcement (till date) that Raja is out of marud. people are blindly believing that person who can't even tell the source of the info he's provided. The samething happened in the case of Raja's interview in vikatan.
Somebody misinterpreted his statement and it was concluded that he's in deep financial trouble!! there was no such indication in the interview that Raja is facing some trouble.
Somebody went to the extent of saying " talent and money don't go together". Did that person know that his property was estimated to be 300 Cr plus when his house was raided by the IT deptt a couple of yrs ago ???
Don't tell me he's in deep financial trouble.
All i want to say is that , don't despise a guy just bcos he doesn't like ur idol (mind u , kamal has never let any statement against Raja till date and he never said that Raja has been removed from Marud). I agree, as a true Raja fan, i felt bad that a person who's no where near raja in BGM is being used for such an important project as hErAm but that doesn't mean Raja is being sidelined by kamal.
Even if Raja is removed from Marud , u can't write off kamal's contribution to the TF industry and his talent (though the fact remains that Marud will bomb if BGM is not good and that Raja is the ONLY person in India who can do justice to that movie)

I wish success for kamal in his venture "marudanaayagam". The thing is that after i listened to kaalapani's and Devadai's Re-recording i personally felt that IR is the only one who could give the uplift to the movie from the music department.
One other reason is that Marudanayagam is a tamil character and the story would be in tamilistic( is there a word like this) backdrop. I dont know how much Zakir Hussain could feel that and compose music. If he doesnt do any research before scoring, i think that would end up in a pathetic situation. How do you feel on this guys

Kamal is a gift to TF Industry. He is a great actor and I feel he is the best actor in India as of now. But, IMO, if the news, that Raja is not the MD for his dream project MN, is true, then MN will surely bomb in the box office. And, that will be a big blow for Kamal. I just said, if that is the case, only then he will realize the mistake of not using Raja and start giving great films. I can never agree with Vimal's statement that Kamal should come to the streets. Vandhaarai vaazha vaikkum Thamizhagathil, oru Thamizhana theruvukku varanumnu innoru Thamizhanae sollalaamaa? And, comparing a genius like Kamal with some director (the director of super hit projects like 'Thiruda Thiruda', 'Bombay', 'Iruvar', 'Roja' - who has not done anything significant to the Thamizh industry other than trying to bring down its quality) and Deva is the greatest insult to Kamal.

Hey Raj and Srinath,
LEt me clarify my statement here. I'm a DHFof IR, as you all know. And I sometimes cry looking at the way he's been treated these days. His friends-turned-(Shall I say) foes are just going hammer and tongs in their efforts to just wipe off the name of IR from TFM. HE's been 'Successfully" sized down to compose music for bad movies. I repeat, bad movies( may be a couple of exceptions in that). I saw Thalaimurai and I was just wondering what has RAJA got to do with that. Well, you can argue that he did music for RajKiran's earlier movies too. But, they were all IR's movies, filled with the splendour of his music.
I'd like to reiterate, IR VERY BADLY NEEDS A BREAK MAN!. Why don't you guys just understand that?. And instead you keep reviewing all his songs in a great way, many of them turning out to be damp squibs.
LIke someone else had wisely posted, HR was a great chance to bring IR back to glory, his Kingdom. But, Kamal just did the "Brutus Act".
As IR's fans, I expected you guys to show your wrath, but you guys keep writing "Very Objectively".
Being the most powerful man in his entire film unit, do you think he wouldn't have had the chance
to restore the sagging pride of IR? Instead he chose L.Subbu!! What does he think of himself?
I wrote that posting immediately after seeing the article on his movie in Vikatan. You wouldn't understand the frustration and disappointment that was going thro' in my mind. I just stand by my statement. If you'd read that areticle, he's coolly said, " The unit includes many famous persons like L.Subbu, Sabu Cyril, Thirunavukkarasu and Sarika".
Well, Sarika! Do you think she's the best in costume designing??? Tell me one movie of hers with the costumes being so notable.
Well, if this guy can pull in a charcter as Sarika and portray her as the best, JUST WHY NOT IR?
Srinath, it may be ultimately Kamal's discretion, but my man, he just didn't do the correct thing.
Well, I've got to go. I'll continue later.

Shankar, I was the one to raise the doubt on the chronological order of the success of BH and the conception of MN. Thanks for clarifying this and the Ponniyin Selvan stuff. Pl. note that I dont mind MN being an adaptation of BH. I'd certainly appreciate if it comes out as a good movie. Also, I made the comparision with Deva! This is was only in the context of the Oscars, and certainly not 'coz of my love for IR. MN can only benefit from IR, and why should I bother if Kamal chose IR or not?! I thought few smileys would convey that I wasn't serious about the comparision :-). Sorry if anyone is hurt. BTW, I was a very seriuos Kamal fan till some time ago. He still is one of the few that I admire among our cine artistes. I'm not saying this just to even things out, but I truly mean it.
MN might be a mega-project, or it could even be a huge success in TN. But, the idea of nominating it for the Oscars is the one that bothers me. In the event that it was a inspired by BH, it would only cause embarrassment for us. The story about Kurudhipunal is entirely different. The original is still Indian you see! BTW, I dont consider the Oscars to be everything either, 'coz I'm not too sure how and if they would ever understand our heritage. And, as someone said, it's yet another American awards ceremony. So, we shouldn't be bothered by it so much, nor should it be the whole motto for the making of any movie.
I hope I made myself clear! All my wishes for the success of MN.
