can Madhu Balakrishnan replace Yesudas?

Madhu Balakrishnan a brimming talent is now getting some songs in Tamil Nadu. Hope all knows the IR song "Edhilum ingu Irruppan avan Yaaro" From Bharathi.
Yesudas has grown old and his voice is not the same as before. We can feel the old voice in "Thandana thandana thai maasam " song in that vijay kanth's film.

A feel has come that Yesudas has to retire and now the place will be empty. Can Madhu Balakrishnan fill his Place....???

  I happened to watch a program on TV , in which madhu sang the "Harimuraleeravam" song from harikishans. I just closed my eyes and could see yesudas there. If we name yesudas as perfection, madhu is the nearest to the perfection.

  for ur info its from aaram thampuran...and i saw a program in singapore by chitra in which madhu had accopanied and sung in the program..it was wonderfully that he rendered the song harimuraliravam...all the notations and all..close to perfect..of course not like the original piece by the great yesudas..but this one was the best i have ever heard sung by any other singer than yesudas..he has a bright future

  Yes... but nearest to perfection never equals perfection.Yesudas improvises the song composed by the M.D. I don't think Madhu can do that.

  Actually, such questions are a sign of disrespect to the great KJ and a stumbling block to the new comer MB. It is not serving any purpose. No one can replace KJ and MB's further progress may be hindered by such comparisons. Remember what happened to Jayachandran?! This is not like replacing a CEO of a major company with another. KJ will live for ever in the minds of music lovers and so will MB if he has talents, which he sure does have! Let us end this.

  It is an established fact that KJ is a great singer. His vibrating & echo filled voice alone has lifted even ordinary songs to great hits. who can forget 'Manitha Manitha', 'Kanne Kalimane', 'Pazhamudhir solai...' etc.
  But here the point raised by Ram is 'Who can best fit such style of songs, in the present TFM'. 'Piraya Piraya' is quite good, rendeed by Madhu. He is musically qualified and should be given more chances. Even M.G.Sreekumar has great potential. In my opinion, there is some vacuum created in the absense of melodious songs of SPB, MV and KJ, and singers such as MGS,Unnimenon,Madhu etc should be given more chances.

  Regarding M G Srikumar..
  .
  No doubt, he has a nice, endearing personality, from what one judges by watching him on television. He also has fantastic sense of rhythm, and can modulate very well. But, his voice, while being good, is not good enough to compare with KJY's. That alone is negative point: he loses out in the voice-department.

  madu can never reach near KJ because madhus voice is not good as the voice of KJ's at his age of 60.
  can you show any song of madhu which has voice better as Kj at his 25 to 48?,never.there is no another singer in india who can sing in KJ's range.he can sing in very low pitch to very high pich even in this age.please watch the program in asianet on tuesday and friday at 9.00pm.
  
  when Kj singinging he understands each word and give expression to each word according to the situation.and no one can imitate his sound modulations.K.J.IS A GREATE GREATE SINGER.HE KNOWS VERY RARE RAGAS IN KARNATIC MUSIC&HINDUSTANI MUSIC.

  Madhu is just 29 years old friends. Accept him as a new comer and see what he can do. There is no doubt that Yesudas is the greatest . Dont harm Madhu's career by comparing to the legend. But it is a fact that he is getting better day by day. Listen the latest hit "Pirage Pirage" from PithaMagan by Ilayaraja. Madhu sounded really good. As a person who knows him personally, I wud say he is the modest guy U can ever see and has lot of respect for Yesudas. Yesudas personally congratulated Madhu in front of the audience when Madhu sung "Maane" song on Yesudas' 60th b'day function.

  Guys,
  This is an interesting discussion. On one side you are talking about a stalwart and icon of Indian music industry, KJY, with decades of experience under his belt, who was instrumental in giving new directions to Indian music, especially South Indian.
  
  On the other side is a superior talent, Madhu Balakrishnan, who can one day be a stalwart like KJY.Madhu definitely has become a sensation among the younger generation - the same adoration,showed by our elders years ago, which helped KJY to be what he is today!
  
  As for comparison, i believe that you have to compare apples to apples. My personal opinion is that its not be a good idea to compare these two right now, as they are in two different planes.KJY has proved over the years with his talent,experience,scale and volume of songs. Madhu has proved his potential and has more avenues, may be to be even better.
  
  Hope that our comparisons will not bring down or sideline the opportunities that a budding supertalent like Madhu should get from the industry. (Reason being, i read a post by a singer who maintained to be anonymous.And that indicates that there are lot of people from the Music industry who are reading these posts!)

  Madhu has a lot of potential and it's upto our MDs to make use of him.
  
  Exposure and opportunites only can make a singer popular. Madhu must prove that he is capable of giving live concerts and also prove that he can sing variety of songs like 'vacha paarva theeradhadi', 'poo maalai vaangi vandhan', 'vedham nee iniya naadham nee' etc.. He should be given the opportunity to sing different types of songs. Is there any MD who can make such tunes and offer them to Madhu? I don't think so.
  
  KJY was fully exploited by MSV, Ilayaraja and MDs in malayalam field. They gave him challenging songs and made him this popular. (Of course he sang them so well). The same is true with SPB and S.Janaki as well. Unless Madhu (or any other new talented singers for that matter) gets such an exposure and opportunity, he can never prove what he is capable of.
  
  From another perspective, compare him with KJY when he 'was' 29 years old. You can probably see a balance between the two. KJY wasn't this popular when he was 29.
