Ram,
Mozart's music is loved world-wide, and it had a great impact on IR. In this work
the Indian composer pays tribute to Mozart's greatness, echoing his many moods, from gentle
and introspective to joyously exuberant.

Isaiosai,
Thanx very much for that info.....
I did guess that it was a tribute from our maestro to the great Mozart but as in "I met Bach at my House" IR has used Bach's composition and brought out the carnatic ragas hidden inside it....I wanted to know is there some stuff like that.....

Actually, Mozart, I love you, is done in Mozart's own style. Thats how IR pays tribute to the master. I have played it to some white people and they all thought it was a Mozart piece.

In Azhagi, the 1 min. bit song "Ezhu janmam..." in the temple was so unexpected, yet, very appropriate. I don?t think anybody in the last 2 decades (or even more as far as I have seen/heard) other than IR has brought out the feeling of "divine" love in a better way as part of bgm. It reminded me of the theme music of Guna. Nothing to do with the similarity in tune/music but for the feeling of divinity in love. Even the bit song towards the end of the movie was very apt. It is really amazing the way he creates the right mood within few seconds.
There is a decent bit song of about 25 secs. in Aandan Adimai which goes as "Om NamachivAya...". And as someone mentioned earlier, the 5 min bgm when Satyaraj walks in a street and remembers his
childhood days, with varying moods and emotions (a solo violin piece for a few seconds:)) is noteworthy. The movie is quite a decent one (better than those with the usual ingredients) with some witty, funny and even thought provoking one liners and neat filming of songs. The bgm elevates an otherwise normal film. And bcos it is more village based not many may like it. I never got bored thru?out the film.

isaiosai,
Very true. That devotional chorus in the temple scene (where Nandita comes to get her child blessed) was a pleasant surprise. Likewise IR has done some amazing stuff that remains in the BGM, not getting any exosure even in the later releases of the albums.
Did you notice the wonderful bgm piece in the same film, when Parthiban comes downstairs to take his little daughter (who has fallen asleep alongside Nandita) to his bedroom? It brought out so many emotions!! Wow!

isaiosai, Ganesh
Some more pleasant bgms were:
1) When the adolescent Shanmugam knows that Dhanam has attended age - its a WC-based
2) After Dhanam accidentally breaks their marriage photo and gets scolded
Lots of childhood scene's BGMs are kind of nostalgia-evoking. I am at a loss how to explain it in words.

Has anyone read the book "a pocket full of rye" by AJ Cronin. I read it a long time back and I still remember it because in the story description (blurb) it speaks of "..the sadness of love all but forgotten in the wake of days gone bye.."
At that time I thought it was very beautiful, and after watching Azhagi I remembered that line. In fact that story too is about this guy meeting the women he loved after a long time and I think she comes and works as a governess in his house or something like that.

Ganesh & Venkatesh,
I have all those bgms recorded in a cassette:-) (but in mono as the VHS was so:() I went back 3-4 times after that Parthiban coming downstairs to take his child scene for the sake of bgm. Other scenes like the lead pair meeting on the road, the boy taking their blessings on his first day in school etc. are noteworthy. Honestly, I could see some film making/editing defects when I watched it the first time and was not very happy. But to keenly listen to the bgms, and the movie, and for the sake of recording the bgms I ended up watching the whole movie about 4 times and certain scenes more than that:) The first 40 mins. involving their childhood (including "Damakku damakku dum") was real fun. could not help laughing out aloud during that maths class scene:-)).
Reminds me of Lajja?s bgm which was too good. In fact, I personally feel that the shehnai piece that comes when the bride Mahima arrives to be the best bgm for a "bride arrival" scene in a Hindi film during the last 2 decades (inspite of all their other popular marriage oriented films). There is reason even as to why that tabla towards the end of that piece is played a little faster. When not many of our people have understood this HFM audiencekku idhEllam enga puriya pOrdhu:(

This is not abt. a new album,
Listening to Sedhu Songs now -
I am amazed by the way Unni Krishnan's voice suits Vikram in all the three songs (maalai en vedhanai, sikkaatha sittu and Vidiya vidiya) - very well sung !
Arivumathi's lyrics for 'maalai en vedhanai' is another great work ...
'kaatRu vidum thuuthukku, malar sollum bathil ennavoo'
'VaasangaL pesaatha bathilaa thambi'
'megam vidum keLvikku, veNNilavin bathil ennavoo'
'kadalaadum alaikuuda bathilthaan thambi'
Wonderful !!!

s0 - nothing to feel sad about it..... the writer was concentrating on the *storyline* part alone in all the movies that had come recently..... and his point is 100% true - both azhagi and kaasi had very good storyline / acting......
and i remember reading someone's comment here in some other thread that the above mentioned movies were not a hit..... hmm... i wish he/she reads the above link.....

One more bit about the reunion of Raja and VM.
I am begining to believe it is true.
haiiyaaa nalla kaalam poranthiruchi doi!!
btw, what the $%#@ is the matter with that Sunil dude who wrote that section? Why is he killing Tamil and English at the same time? He sounds like an illiterate punk. Not even fluent in one language.
Just venting

Tanglish Hater,
Also if you notice Kumudam's online edition "Lights online", I have a strong feeling it is now being written by that crappy biryani journalist who used to write for Dinamalar Vaaramalar with the name "Jr. Ponnayyaa" (the one who used to write mostly imaginary stuff about actors and actresses. Remember his version of standard dialogues with actress-mothers (maar thattum nadigai, oodu katti adippen etc.) and the one who gave titles such as 'pasunesan', 'Diamandu kavi', 'Purabi nadigar', etc.). You know his style of writing. it's so irritating. He is half-baked, is extremely male-chauvinistic and who never used to write anything against Rajni. Kumudam magazine used to have this guy who wrote under the name Vinod. He introduced an English phrase in every piece of news, like a signature. Hius writing was never vulgar and was a pleasant thing to read.
Now we have to endure this Sunil and Jr. ponnayya guy (who now writes under the name 'ESSESS').
