Sorry for the digression guys.I had the opportunity to hear SILK live at chennai. It was a full ensemble with Shankar mahadevan, sivamani,Fazal Quereshi(Zakir's Bros),louis banks and vikku and goshti. The prefomance was plausible to say the least.
All of them are individually talented musicians but as a band it sucks. It was bascially thani avarthanam from vikku which stole the show.Sivamani with all his seshtays, proved he has good rythym sense, but I wonder why he had to put on that show.Vikku mama had got his triplicane, mylapore street guys and they were rooting for him.His ususal throwing up the ghatam and mixing up of the thalams was catchy but not aesthetic.Shankar Mahadevan was the key man leading with some sawara alapanas in Kalyani and shankarabhraram.Louis banks was stumped a few times and at times a by stander.
This is the n th fusion show I have attended and its plain exhibition of individual musical talent.
There is no fusion.Infact, sadly the bass gutiarist was out of tune. There is no write up of what they are trying to do and all in all a waste of money.
L.shankar too attempted and it was crap.I bought an album which he made with his wife caroyln and it was a collosal wreck.Again a talented violinst but a sad composer.
The only person who has done a justifyable job in fusion is IR and others are nowhere near his fusion talent.Sadly nobody writes/prepares and its a mockery.
yes,Bombayites are known to succumb to glamour and their discerning quality is laughable.Hence its no surprise that its a massive rage in B'bay.
Again, sorry for the digression.

geetha,
i agree with u and in my first review here on KK several weeks back i had picked alai meethu ahead of the much publicized 'diana diana' as my favourite from this album.IR is the undisputed king of sudha dhanyaasi.

has IR scored any song using jampa thaala?

alai meedhu.. is indeed present in the movie, but not to its completion.

Guys,
Finally I saw KK. The movie is OK but the songs (except thathom and the gramiya-padal) are very good. The BGM is just too good. Alaimeedhu song does come. When prashanth travels in a boat on the Thames, he listens to the song "Floating in the air".

Guys,
Happen to see a junk called Thalaimurai...was looking for Raja's score, Alas I think Raja's name was just used and someone else worked for him. The title songs remainded the MAHANADHI title song. Rerecording utter non-sense,
Wasted my time trying to search Raja in the movie, we should probaly hire someone like FBI to find Raja's score in the movie, he can better stay at home instead of wasting his time on this sub standard movies. 100% Donkutaku Donkutaku cacaphony by Raja.

Srikanth/Ravi: Thalaimurai is indeed by IR, infact he even sings in it(Enga Maharanikku enna ingu kobam).... That is a melodius song, but the rest are disappointing.

For people having eye filter , Raja may not be visible , I too watched the movie and enjoyed three songs "Enga magaRanikku","Thathi Thati Adum Poove" and "Vellimani" , also the BGM is very effective, the movie itself is not junk , very decent movie better than many recent time movies.Ofcourse IMO.

Hi fans,
That is what I also felt. I think trend has changed a bit among the audians. This is a serious
movie and you can NOT expect a duet or beat songs
for that movie.
thanks,

lankathas,
I saw the housefull movie. Movie is different, but
very ameturish. I had lot of expectation about BGM, when I went to the movie, but IMO, BGM is over done. Expect few places, BGM was very loud and jarring to ears. I really dont want to put BGM in this film as one of IR's best.

hari,
Did u see it in a video cassette / VCD ???
I saw the movie in a hall and I'd rate this as one of the great BGMs of raja.
Please read AV's review on the BGM.

sankar,
I saw it in albert in madras, last week, when I
was there. I agree that cinema halls in madras, sound system are not prefect, but still I cant
agree that IR music is not overdone.I saw kadhal kavithai too, and that music was more pleasing and
adequate. IN AV review, they praised the film too much.We went to the movie, bcos AV gave good review, but the film is not at all good, and movie is goofed up. It is no wonder, houseful is not running houseful :-).

Vijay: I'm not sure about IR's Jhampa Tala, I'll have to do some research....Also, you may remember the d=song MALAIYIL YAARO, also in Suddha Dhanyasi, another excellent number in this Raga....
By that way, did you also find that Diana, though a good song and very catching, sounds very much like Oru Mani Adithaal? Also, what did you think of MVU?

MVU has two great numbers, yEdho yEdhO nenjil oru minnaL {what a cool duet) and iLavEnir kaala panchami. But both the songs would have been better without HH. One thing I didnt like in MVU was the orchestration. Though the tunes were excellent, the orchestration was below par [compared to say PVK etc]. koottu kuyilu is an enjoyable song, also the dappanguththu song. Overall it is a decent album by IR.

Mr. Gokul,
I personally felt that SPB should have sung the songs in MVU. Its not that HH is bad, we have heard too much of him. A real refresher to the ear is needed now.
One more things, I was listening to "naan vakkapattu" from Desiya Geetham. I had a biased opinion in the beginning about the song and never bothered to listen to it. When I heard it yesterday, one thing which caught my attention was, it had AIM (Authentic IR Music!!). I'm sure KR would'nt have had his hand in this song. I could hear those lovely violin movements. Oh man !! awesome.
