Friends,
I am an ardent Hard Core, I mean really Hard Core fan of the great (sorry, the greatest), the one and only Ilayaraja. He is the only composer I listen to (sometimes I listen to his kids' works) and I almost worship him. Tears of ecstasy have flown from eyes many times, sometimes, I do "Namaskarams" thinking of him, and most of the times, it is spontaneous, involuntary.
I mean, come on, he is the greatest genius ever, even if you consider the geniuses from all the fields.
The purpose of this thread is, I am interested in knowing about the other HCIRFs visiting the forum. I know for sure, there are fans like SPM, NagaS, Jag, Athi..to name a few. There used to be guys like Srinath, MPR, Shanmugam Murugappan, eden, and the likes..but I don't get to see much of them these days.
Are you an HCIRF?? How is IR's music affecting you...can you tell me about the feeligns that you get and the actions that you do when you listen to his songs??
And yeah, ROTFL, Whynot, Bharath and the likes, I would take it to be a nice act of decency if you don't show up in this thread. I am not interested in any of your "objective" or "neutral" views, as I said, this is just for HCIRFs.

Hai guys,
I started coming to the forum only a few months back and AFTER reading the postings here I wish I had come to this forums much earlier....I wish I could see people really talking about music and various aspects of TFM rather than personal attacking....The only thread I post my views is the raga thread and occasionally at IR-new albums....nice to see so many HCIRF....As I did my undergraduate in Thanjavur I caN SAY WITHOUT DOUBT THAT IR is still recieved and his songa are still popular than present day MDs....he has touched the life so many people all over TN.....unfortunately only Madras seems to be getting mad after western music....not that nething wrong in listening to western....but it lacks the so called "mann Vaasanai" and soul....

Hi,
Though I am not writing in these pages, I am also a regular visitor to TFM page since mid-97. I browse these pages atleast twice a day. I am also a hardcare Maestro's fan like you all.
I am sure there are more names to be acknowledged, like rjay, etc. I also got lot of online friends like Dr.Vijay, etc and chat a lot with them.
There has never been a day in my life in the last 15 years, where I have not heard to His music atleast once a day.
I am very proud to be a (South) Indian and living in Raja's times. I consider myself a blessed soul.

you won't meet any hardcore fans of other md.s! ir has contributed to our life like that.

Prashanth, I guess you are telugu speaking. If you are, I salute you man!! Please don't mistake that I am trying to bring in language issues here, but being Telugu speaking HCIRF is something great. Sometimes, I do curse myself for not knowing telugu. IR's songs in Telugu are simply transcendental.
Pardhu, elated to know that you are an HCIRF. Do you have any special memories, recolletions to share?? How about you Prashanth, how did you get to become an IRF?

Vimal,
I posted my views (the very first response) on one Mr Kiran's thread "IR dominates the director on the screen". I think the thread went into archives. However I have GREAT pleasure in sharing my views again, pal which I will do next, shortly,

what's the diff between an IR fan & HCIRF?
:)

an IR fan is one whose not bashed by (HC)ARRfan,
who once in a while *has* to say sthg good about arr, SAR, deva, and shudn't be complaining about any of the MDs....and of course, he's to say with conviction that recent works of Raja are all junk and his he's out of form, and he shud retire and all that.
An HCIRF is someone who doesn't do all these. He's the 'joker' (as in pack of cards), who's used by everyone interested in bashing Raja.
HCIRFs indulge in bashing arr & others just for the sake of it (this is the complaint against a HCIRF, which doesn't apply to all ).

Hi guys,
When someone declares himself a HCIRF(a reasonable one at that), non IR-fans(???), shud try to focus on the versatility and skill of IRs music instead of looking down on him as a member of a terrorist group!
That IR had a very significant effect on millions is beyond any doubt.
I dunno but when I see Tendulkar bat or Akram bowl, test match or one day, I just cant stop watching irrespective of the situation - their dedication and skills are too good, and most of all, they make it look so easy. Ever seen Sachin huff and puff to reach a hundred? Same thing with IR.
And cant say why, but when I am listening to an IR cassette while on the one hour bus journey to work in Bombay, I map the rewind, FF buttons to the various landmarks and junctions on the route...at various junctions, the relevant buttons are pressed so that I can listen to my favorite songs again and again :-p And when I am returning home at midnight, its time to switch on Sun and see the 70s and 80s specials before going to sleep!
