Vairamuthi on KJY in his "indha kuLathil kal eRinthavargaL"

Vairumthu says - When Tamilians themselves pronounce Thamizh as "Thamil" there is no surprise when a man from different language pronounces thamizh badly.

When it has been written as "Thirukoyilae" they (KJY) sing it as "Therukoyilae" - kanadhasan had condemned KJY for which KJY had replied "the poet could have corrected me during the recording".

Vairamuthu says " Whether kanadhasan had taken the right given by KJY or not i took it. But i came to understand lately that KJY could'nt digest this.How much i loved KJY's voice at the same time i was also stern that his pronounciation should also be good. It is like a husband standing outside the maternity ward where his worries are both the mother as well the child should'nt die. My worries are like that... For such a big Sangeetha Methai - could'nt digest this small thing. He thought correcting him was more like troubling(varuthuvathai pol) him..

On the recording studio we shake our hands as roses but when we depart we find blood strains in our hands (olipathivu koodathil ovoru muRaiyum rojakaLAi thaan kaikuluki koLkiRom - kulukia kaikaL pirigiRa pothu kaiyil rathamae kasigirathu)

Vairamuthu says he had to correct KJY on lot of occassions - examples are "thaneeril mooLgathu kAtRuLA banthu" in "eeraman rojave", "muthal ezhuthu thAi mozhiyil thalai ezhuthu yAr mozhiyil" in "veLai puRa onRu.."

More he says "We 've to reconsider 'a'garam is sigaram for thamzih. 'a'garam is only assthivaram for thamizh. 'zha'garam thaan thamizhukku sigaram"

He says " Once MSV was correcting KJY very often in a recording. When they were doing so - and when MSV said 'Ready Take' they did'nt find KJY inside the recording room!! he was on the road in his car!!!!"

Very recently KJY was singing "Aan azhuvathu pizhaiyanathu.penn azhuvathu kalaiyanathu" - as usual there was trouble in 'zha'garam. I corrected him. But KJY became very hot!KJY asked "Will u(Vairamuthu)be correcting till death ?" I asked back "Till whose death" KJY replied "Till both of us die". I replied back saying "No. till thamizh does'nt die". I retured back home without telling him.

  Mr.Paamaran,You are writing all this stuff like serials on TV, with Part-1,2,3...its interesting too. Can u tell the source of this information, either book,magazine, so that everyone can also have a first hand information.
  Ilaiyaraja and VM are the two best in TFM at present in their respective fields, its time they forgive and forget for the cause of TFM, as a present to the Tamilians for the new millenium.

  Your last few lines aptly describe the wishes of people like me!! EVen though Vaali-IR combo had produced some brilliant albums like MARUPADIYUM, PUDHU PUDHU ARTHANGAL, etc, CLASSIC albums were produced by the VM-IR duo which were recognized by the general public, Governmental agencies etc.....MUDHAL MARIYATHAI, KADOLARA KAVITHAIGAL, SINDHU BHAIRAVI, NILALGAL (PONMAALAI POZHUTHU), NINAIVELLAM NITHYA.....

  IR with VM again! no way it'll happen!!! - As my previous posting says in the latter part of the article VM says why they can't unite together (they're currently running in opposite directions!)

  As vairamuthu himself has stated, IR and VM do not depend on each other for their successes. So I dont think we are missing a whole lot by not having VM write songs for IR. In fact with VM writing lines like 'azhagiya nilavil oxygen nirappi' etc. nowadays, I would rather prefer him not writing lyrics for IR who is already in bad shape.

  I dont and can never accept IR is in a bad shape.(A genius is never in a bad shape). One needs to have the right team,theme,environment & overall enthusiasm to create masterpieces. Mozart,Beethoven,..etal took almost a decade to create some masterpieces.IR does(or did) a dozen recordings a day (think of the compositions, interludes,percussions,..etc).In those hectic schedules he created innumerable masterpieces (its a sacrifice to Tamilians).It may not be difficult for IR, as he himself has said that it is "yamathuvellai" (cheating)of what he does. He indirectly says he has more worthier stuff to give. I always fear what Kamal Hasan once said that "IR is being wasted in TFM"!!
  Geniuses like him (like what St.Tyagaraja was to Carnatic music) are a gift to a civilization, and IR(himself) and the people should realize that and use his talents to the hilt so that the society is enriched for the ages to come.

  Vairamuthu seems to be very arrogant when he writes about IR. Just because, he is still getting offers for writing songs, he can afford to write what it comes to his mind (like Note to the Publishers to print the following line Bold and Underlined Letters, when he is going to write about IR). TFM had accepted him as a Lyricst, because he wrote great songs like "Idu Oru pon maalai pozhuthu" in Nizhalgal and he could continue to be the best Lyricst when he wrote songs like "Poongaatru Thirumbuma" in Mudal Mariyaadai. He continues to be in the TFM today just because of the old deeds. He can never ever survive with his latest paethals (some times it is called song in a movie nowadays). Vairamuthu seems to be a manipulator by looking at his writings.

  I like IRs music. Vairamuthu has done good work. He is a good poet. But I will not equate him with the likes of Kannadhasan (lacks in the depth department). What is happening to him is peer envy. If Vairamuthu thinks he is doing well he wouldnt bother to write about IR. But guys like him have a inferiority complex when they compare themselves with IR and this is what is the cause of all the trouble. Note, IR is not a novice in poetry. He knows all the grammar and structure. Just that his imagination skills are in musical notes rather than in verbal tamil. So this adds to a poets' insecurity when dealing with him.

  I feel we must look at the 'underlined" statement by VM about IR in the context of the tiome at which the book came out. This was pre-arr time and the domination of IR was total and VM was almost a fringe operator working with other music directors who were able to give vrey few hits. His statement is more to pre-empt the idea that he is writing in praise of IR (as he does for most part of the essay) only to get into his books.

  To get a better picture of the situation then:
  There was an article in some tamil magazine in which an emotional fan had written saying he and lots of fans are ready for self-immolation for making IR and VM work together again. In the film circles, a famous joke going around the circle was that the article itself had been ghost-written by Vairamuthu!!
