Guys,
I saw hey ram in NJ. The Background music is just mind blowing. Especially when kamal plays on the pianno first time and he kisses with Rani Mukherjee, the background music is simply great. Only IR can come up with that kind of music. As he has said in Heyram's Preview, he owns every note of the music for this movie.
The recording quality is of international standards. IR has shown his depth in composing and creativity.
As he said in the preview, till now I have been feeding the tamil audience with Pickle and Appalam now the real feast is provided in HEYRAM. Also, this is just a beginning.
This is certainly a unique feet for IR who composed symphony music for Tamil film and will be unmatched for years to come by any musician in TFM.

Raamaraanaalum song makes its way straight away to No. 1 spot in Sun TV's Super 10. Intro dialogue was...
"Ilayaraja nammalai yaemathirukka maattaar yendu sollurathai vida, avarudaiya ovvoru moochum HEYRAM HEYRAM -nu sollittu irukkirathu yenpathu thaan unmaiyaana vishayam!"
(It would be more appropriate to say that he has lived in every note of the movie than saying that he hasn't disappointed us.)

Subhash Chedda writes in the review of HeyRam in
http://www.eth.net/features/entertainment/movies1.htm
as,
"The special effects are a bit over-the-top, but they do fit the scene for most part. As does Ilayaraja's music, barring the obviously modern-day orchestra for "Chahe pandit ho." a song that's picturised in the 1940s!"
dear friends, is this true that the instruments used for that song is not fitting to 1940?(i think two genius kamal and ir will never did that mistake)
please clarify.

SS, it is true that the instruments used don't fit the 1940's very well. However, here is my take on the song..... This is the only complete song in the movie, the only song (IMO) that Kamal could give to the Satellite Channels to advertise his movie. He probably wanted something catchy and was'nt too bothered about logic when he asked for a funky, modern song from Raja(Personally, I didnt like the song initially, but it kind of grew on me)

The cover of 'Sedhu' Audio Cassette says that the songs were digitally recorded at AR Rahman's Panchathan Record Inn. Does IR often use ARR's Inn for his recordings? Can someone throw some light on this please?

Visiri!
A good review of Tirunelveli! But IMO, the rhythm for `olaikkudisayilE' is perfect and tabla won't fit in! It's a song in the mould of pAdavA, sangeetha mEgam, kannA unaiththEdukiREN vA and the like (those with one of IR's TM rhythms, using conventional drum set and kango)! Hence similar orchestration is very apt and I like the sing specifically for that!
I find the rhythm of `kattazhagi' foot tapping too(though not new)! The Sunanda song is not all that bad, IMO, and can be called a primer for whoever wants to score a pathos song for a village film in TN!
Tirunelveli, is like mother's (or wife's:-)food, served in plantain leave! No five star hotel stuff, i.e. novel, new, imported items, but very much satisfying with regular, traditional IR style score! (Raja might call it `ooRugAi & appaLam':-))

"From here on my fans can expect full meals..blah..blah..."
Where can I expect, in another junk movie directed by some Mr Thangaraj?
I always wonder why IR accepts doing music for these kinds of worse than ordinary movies... what is he trying to prove?

Vimal,
Atleast the title "Katrukenna Vaeli" sounds decent, compared to recent shockers like GummiPattu and Barani (Napoleon hero:-(( ).
Thalaivithi thaan. I am sure the one hey ram will be followed by tonnes of junk like this one...

Could someone who read Kamal's interview in Kungumam tell about that? It seems that he has explained why he hasn't chosen ARR for HEYRAM!
Eden
Thanks! For two reasons I thought tabla would have been better, (1) It sounds little odd with Synth-beat (2) the song supposed to be a village based song! Otherwise he could have mixed it with both of them like O Vasantha Raja or Vaa Vaa Kanna Vaa! (which has the different instrument usage for each saranam!). But I enjoyed the song! Its my recent JBS song! (Just Before Sleep, J ! )

I wonder if he is short of cash or if he's trying to prove that he is the no.1 MD in the TFM industry by signing as much films as possible...
Ellarodaiyum sandai ithulavera...
He may be a genius, infact he is and no doubt about that, but he at times looks like an ignorant guy who doesn't know what to do in life...
ARR isgoing to NY to have a break from films...he is not even 50 years old...and as if he has achieved all that needs to be achieved in Indian Music...ELLAM NERAM....
IR has lots to learn in this world.
