"kiru, it's good to see tat there is at least one honest IR Fan here. A breath of fresh air among the jalralah cases u often see in this thread.
I have been quite disappointed wit IR's latest albums. Are Yaar & Nijam, wat do u guys feel abt En Mana, Devan etc? "
Digression here, but looking at all the "honesty" certificates given by WN, I am really wondering why Ivann has been specifically left out by WN in the above post? Frankly, seems like a "revenge" like approach to find bad albums than a "honest" attempt at analyzing the "other" MDs music. Freudian slip there, WN?

NagaS,
You are right, I never noticed in the song, she pronunce 'Rettaikkul Aanthai' instead of 'rettaik kuzanthai'.

Rahman said in one of his early interviews that he avoided listening to
contemporary music as did not want to get influenced by that music. He
wants his music to be original and new! Alright bro, make music without
the influence of your forefathers! Let us see, if you can!
This is an ever changing world. People are born constantly and people are
dead similarly. We all have come into the world not like Mr. Jesus Christ
without a father. We have our roots strongly based on our immediate
previous generation, and less significantly on the innumerable generations
in-between from the ages of origin of man to now. Newtonian concept of
gravity was put to disuse by the "nascent" Einsteinian concept in the 20th
century. The important thing to remember and appreciate is that Newton did
prominent work on gravity before, and his ideas pre-existed the period of
Einstein. If it were not for Newton to intrigue Einstein, the latter would
not have become such a great scientist. If it were not for the stimulus of
advaitha of Sankara, neither would have Ramanujam come up with his visisht-
advaitha, nor Madvacharya with his dvaitha philosophy. Nature requires
a pre-existent state to progress to the next state. It sends Nagesh first
in the time window to do his comedy and then Vadivelu. It sends Chatruhan
Sinha first and then later Rajnikanth. We are all a small part of the
continuously self-propagating enormous force that originated in the big bang.
Nobody can molt the profound ancestral influence to become a "new" creator
(in absolute terms).
Illayaraja too, has tuned wonderful Dharmavathi's. His first was probably
in the movie vikram. The song is meendum meendum vaa. S.P.Balasubramaniam
and S.Janaki! He starts his song in madhya sthayi like Sa Sa Sa Sa (meendum
meendum) and then all of a sudden jumps one octave to the thara sthayi Sa
(vaa). He has used Mridhangam as a wonderful rhythm support in that song.
In the charanam the tune is just excellent. Pa Pa Pa Ma2 Da2 (thekku
marathil) Pa Pa Pa Ma2 Da2 (sedhukki vaitha) Pa Pa Ma2 Pa Ga2 Ma2 Pa (dhegam
idhu thaana). Even in the charanam he frequently jumps from madhyama sthayi
Sa to thara sthayi Sa. To me, it seems like Rahman got the idea to tune
his sugam sugam from meendum meendum vaa. Both are very sexy, romantic
playboy channel duets! Both of them are great in their own aspects.

I enjoyed your writing very much. Come to think of it, it's all quite true. One creation leads to another creation. The second is better than the first because it has come later and is influenced by the first.

>>>Are Yaar - fyi - IR has used his song as BGM in many many movies.....
I too am saying this for nth time. NOM.
And I am the last person to say that ARR is better than IR in BGM. But the question is why see ARR BGM only thru IR's prism.
Its like comparing Sachin and sobers and say that Sobers is the best in Bowling and Sachin is no where compared to that. Can you compare thme both. For that matter IR has probably givenm best BGMs in IFM. My only contention is ARR also has given some fabulous BGMs for his films which go well with film and doesn't stand out from film. IR over playing the BGM and rides over the scene is a known fact. He has done that many times.
So don't get confused with my post. I have guts to speak truth.

I think you got the idea about your post from reading some article from raajangam.com. I have read a similar article there. Same Vikram and Vandicholai chinraasu example.
But, I see that song many times at early morning in SCV channel. And I knwo the Vandicholai Chinraasu song note by note. I couldn't find the obvious similarity that the athour or you are highlighting here. Can you please tell me what actually is similar..IS it style/beats/ moods or pattern. This is purely for knowledge purpose.

if u see a movie called "andha sila naatkal" IR has used the Vaazhkai film song "mella mella" music for TITLE music. When I watched the movie, I was really surprised to see that, but nevertheless, I kept watching those few minutes again and again... What a treat from IR.

That article is from the Classical Ilaiyaraaja series of articles written by Lakshminarayanan Srirangam Ramakrishnan in the usenet groups. These usenet groups have been waging the online IR-ARR battle ever since ARR came to the scene (1992).

Truth speakers,
One humble request.
This thread is obviously not for you but only for dishonest IR fans. So, please why don't you keep away from it and let us discuss IR's New Albums.

Can any one tell me the name of the movie that has this song: (KJY and KSC)
"oru kiliyin.... xxx xxx " It has a chorus that goes like "uravu uravu... uravu uravu"
(Excuse my tamil.. I am alien to the language)
Also, can where can I find songs from the film "Aurvathai naal". A female group song from that film seems to be lifted by KV Mahadevan for the telugu film 'Muvva gopaludu' (Sobhana, balakrishna)
