Audio Recording Companies - always first & always forgotten

Dear friends,
we obviously have had detailed discussions on MD's, vocals, etc. But there is a small itch that "Have we forgotten the guys who spent a fortune on bringing to us these starlets to the oustside world, where some have hit the peaks and some have disappeared in twisters?

  Bala,
  I feel the price of Bose do not justify the price performance. (No offence Sitaram). You can get very good speakers from B&W, PSB, Paradigm, NHT etc. for much lesser price. If you like satellite speakers like Bose you can try Anthony Gallo Acoustics (www.roundsound.com).
  
  I also suggest that you give equal importance to Receiver, CD Player, interconnects, cables and speaker stands/audio rack.
  
  Let me know your budget, I can suggest a few configurations. And post that in the 'Good Music System' thread.
  
  (Bose speakers have paper cones which may not be good for the hot/humid weather in Singapore).

  I have gone through the catalouges of Yamaha,
  Pioneer and Kenwood where they give detailed
  specifications.
  
  Yamaha Receiver - 150 W X 5 (Two main + Two
  rear + centre) + 45W X 2 (Front effect)
  
  Pioneer - 100W X 5 (Front-2, rear -2 and centre)
  
  Kenwood - 135W X 5
  
  Which one I should prefer?
  
  When I select speakers, what are the things I have to look for like input power, frequency response, type of speaker, tweeter etc..
  
  Can any one suggest a good DVD player?
  
  If I buy AV receiver (Yamaha, Pioneer or Kenwood)
  should I buy AV Amplifier?
  
  Can anyone explain what is the difference between
  AV Receiver and AV Amplifier?

  Hi bala,
  I would prefer you to also look into a nakamichi receiver which is an excellent one. It is very much available in singapore. As far as DVD player is concerned I've seen the performance of panasonic vcd/dvd player and is good. The cost here is around RM.1899. Check out in singapore.

  Features needed
  ---------------
  1) flat frequency response
  2) Lower 3db cutoff frequency (this will tell you how much bass you can get). Floor standing speakers can go up to 30Hz. If you are planning on buying a subwoofer, monitor speakers would do.
  3) Material of the cone. synthetic, metal ones are good.
  4) Sturdy Construction - knocking the case with your knuckles should not produce a hollow sound.

  just saw the demo of Nakamichi and Robertsons receivers collection. It was quite impressive. Robertsons is also quite economical.
