Many of us listen to songs and as we are enjoying it, suddenly cringe at something, be it the music, the note, the singer's voice for that particular part, etc. etc. and wish we had the power to change/delete just that part. Well here we have it now! Please don't recommend entire songs or major parts which we want to be deleted (Udit Narayan trying to sing any TF song, or Asha in engengEy, engengEy). Only select, an otherwise good song with selected part which you think does not belong.
Well here's my start. I wish ARR did not make Chitra scream Anjali Anjali in the song from Duet.

Muthamo Mohamo from Parakkum Paavai (I think), the song starts off well with LRE setting a good tempo, then the song goes off in some weird direction - anyone felt the same?

Hi Murali Sankar,
I guess you are right. In fact, I was only irritated by some other lines in the song but once that happened I never paid any attention to this line, until now :-).
This line does look poetic now.

'Thuzhaavudhal' is ok! Aana 'meen pidippen' oru maadhiri illE? kaiyaala yaaravadhu meen pidippaangala? I don't favour that line. IMO, it brings in some ugly comparison into the lyrics. Murali, neenga sonna lines kooda sariyaana sori!

My 2 cents worth :
Before I start off, let me state without any room for doubt that I dont intend to hit anyone below the belt, or launch personal attacks or ridicule anyone. All the following comments are made in the spirit of pure fun. NOM :) :) :)
1. Koondhalile meen pidippaen:
Probably, the lyricist meant "Koondhalil paen pidippaen " :) (Paen=lice)
2.I love this idiot: I thought that was related to the movie rather than the song. I dont know why many of you dont like it but I think I know why srinath likes it: Remember , he is a pro guitarist himself..probably, personal experience:)
(Sri, Can I rely on you not to take offence?:))
3.(1) reminds me of the following line from "Sela kattum pennukku .." from some Rajni-amala movie.
I didnt mention it earlier in this thread because I didnt think it was a good song otherwise, too. But in light of (1), it is worth a look. One line goes:
"Koonthalukkulle oru veedu kattungal".
Somehow, I always used to thimk of "Only lice can build its house in the koonthal" when I listen to this line :).
Anotehr line goes : "Pookkalai keeruvathaal ratham varuma..". What a sadist!
Also, machchangal- acchangal type of rhyme. Irritating , to say the least.
Lastly, a related thought. How about songs which otherwise dont captivate you except for a small part. I'll startt with "Idhayamae , Idhayamae" from Idhayam, which I detest as too loud and ultra-expressive except for the humming in the second interlude (by chitra I think). It just swept me away!

Raj,
Funny really indeed :)). I am still laughing:)). But I do not know why you are after lices whenever there is a mention about hair...Let me guess.. Can I call it a simian trait ? (Arey, take it cool.........:))).
Regarding Idhayamey:
Sorry, IMO , it is the best of SPB in all aspects. So feeling hard to digest..paravaayillai..Taste is highly personal and subjective.

Two examples of changes to great songs.....
Kaartirunthen Unaiye Edhipaarthirundhen Uyire - from Rasamagan. This is an excellent song in Kalyani Ragam, unfortunately there is a very 'jarring' Shenhai piece, which I wish was replaced by a flute by IR.
Bharathwaj - Pooveli - Song Oru pooveludhum Kavidhai..... Excellent song in Hamsanadham, the base remenicent of IR's Thendral Vandhu Ennai Thodum. Again, this shenhai? piece in the song is fairly jarring, I feel. It seems to 'cut' the flow at that piont and needed many listens for the/my ear to accept it.

Vijay: It is certainly not made up of a pentatonic set of notes(and has a definite Prathi Madhyamam, as I remember it), however, I will listen to it again, as I haven't heard in in a long time and it may be in Mohana Kalyani......
