Kiru...I accept that Neels is a valuable contributor...I shouldn't've gone so over the top....I think Neels was jus kiddin'....sorry Neels...this forum has given me a lot of musical info and knowledge....I am still new around here..pls forgive the outburst as the immaturity of a newcomer...
Kiru..did IR use Synth basses and loops in "Johnny" - the song "En Vaalvile.."?...that song was a real "alternative pop/rock" as these songs are called today - I mean the bass rhythm of that song...can anyone verify ?

Eden...and please stop comparing Western Pop musicians with our, elite TFMD...we are way above in the richness of our music...
I can only laugh looking at such comments:-) On the other hand it's correct probably 'cause some might get offended that we compare the originals with copycats (`those inspired'):-))

Eden...my only question is do we know from where these Western Classical and Pop musicians are inspired from ? Or are they born geniuses and we the dumb copycats ?

cosmician,
I am sorry I am going back to my 'digression' again..
That was just a joke. If you thought it was a racist comment, my apologies....
My point was that in my opinion, aesthetically the Sudhakar-Radhika pair paled in comparison with the Hindi lead. It's common knowledge that people also look for good-looking lead pairs in commercial cinema. And the term good-look I agree is subjective.
I love actresses such as Sarita, Radhika, Shobha, Suhasini, Archana, Urvasi, Rohini who are not your conventional beauties. Even Radhika changed a lot by presenting herself better in her later films.
And I am aware of the wooden-faced hunks and bimbettes in Hindi films and am a hardened critic of the likes of Anil Kapoor, who made a life out of copying Bhagyaraja and Kamal movies.
By the way, Rekha (Hindi) was openly called an 'ugly duckling' before her metamorphosis to a 'beautiful' lady happened.
And I never thought this very tall, dark, almost tomboyish girl in college, Anu (Haasan) is going to be the sweet actress with typical Indian looks in Indira!
:::: END OF DIGRESSION ::::
Considering that you have all accepted my apologies, could you please help me with my query on the BGM composer of 'Sawere Wali GAdi'? Thalayai Picchikkira keLvi!! ;)
Thanks

Eden...to continue our debate..I've started a new thread to discuss whether all music is only inspired..instead of digressing here..all are welcome :-)

I listened to Aandan, Adimai @ www.musicindiaonline.com. Two song are heavily WCM orchestrated. Very rich. The rest are beatsy/folksy. MadhuBalakrishnan is being groomed as a successor to KJY including singing the occasional folk/dappAnguththu song. The Shankar Mahadevan is a typical IR chord based folk song with drums, switching to native percussion and back. Somehow I yearn for Malaysia Vasudevan (I thought I would never do that :)) The recording is very good. Real instruments. Thank god ..No synth (mostly). But the mix is a little on the aggressive side, with instruments dominating the vocals. I cant say for sure though until I get the CDs.

" I LISTENED TO GOD's MUSIC AFTER A LONG TIME "
If somebody have not yet listened to the song "Un raajiyathil " of Aandan Adimai... please listened to it. ITS THE BEST SONG OF THE YEAR. IR's real touch is in that song. AMAZING SONG . Just don't miss to hear that.
KIRU - Thanx a lot for the info .

Aandaanadimai sees a buoyant IR. Vibrant and playful. Great work. IR can never cease to surprise us but, how about some really daring international pop style songs with western pop singers.. one hit number of the 80s i really peps me up i think IR can take a challenge and make a song like Maria Magdalene or Home By the Sea...

IR can do a LOT more efficient utilization of his knowledge. I think he is just cutting down is movies, just to give a good comeback. I really count of IR, that too after hearing Aandan Adimai.

Listening right now to Aandan Adimai..the first song Iam listening to is "Undhan raajyathil"..looks like Vintage IR stuff :-) reminds you of "kadavul ullame" from anbulla rajnikanth only this time around the orchestration is much better. but IR could have just let the chorus sing that song or someone else sing that song instead of himself. After hearing the chorus his voice comes as some sort of a letdown..
after listening to other songs , I will give my comments..but the interludes are nice in this one..And I miss that flute..where was IR hinding that for so long? :-)

Next song "ennenna paada paduthara" has a very good tune and interludes..but Dhrishti maari Bhava's voice :-( Sujatha or Swarna would have been better..and difficult to believ that the other singer is Harini..either IR has made her sing differently or the recording is bad or the singer is wrongly listed as Harini :-)
But the good news seems to be that violins and flute are back..if only IR could choose beter voices..

"Nammava thappu pannina" is a pretty mediocre tune. The beat reminds you of "veetukku veetukku vaasapadi venum" from Kizhakku Vaasal. In fact the start is also very similiar..in the older one IR starts with "thaangu thakku tharikida .." and here its the chorus doing that part. IR has basically sleep-composed this song :-) Madhu has intentionally tried to sound like KJY?? or is this his normal voice?? Nothing special about this one.

The other two songs "karupanne" and "thillumullu ulagathile" too disappoint..Shankar Mahadevan deserves better songs than these..downright medicore..
Overall: 2 songs, "ennenna" and "unthan raajyathil" impress a little bit..with better choice of voices they would have been much better..I dont see this album becoming a hit..and I wouldnt blame the audience if they were to ignore this album..but IR has shown some promising signs in this album, thats for sure..

Vijay, I never told about the other songs. Others are not worth for anything, else for Enna Paada PAduthara. I think IR had to do it, just because of situation. Just don bother about them . Thing to listen is the Vintage IR .

Any song will sound better with repeated hearings. Songs 1-4 are beautiful and everytime you listen to them you will like them more and more. After 2 hearings I liked them very much. Overall a decent album for a Sathiyaraj starrer (I mean the film may not be a musical entertainer but a family movie).
1) Unthan Rajiyahthil (Mu.Metha)
2) Ennenna Paadaa Paduthare...(Pulamai Pithan)
3) Nammavaa Thappu Panninaa.. (Vaali)
4) Tillu mullu.. (Kavignar Muthulingam)
5) Anne Anne...
Vijay,
Shankar Mahadevan deserves a better song. He deserves no songs IMO. I am pained to see IR using him. However I agree that Bhava should not be used by IR. Harini sounds similar like Bhava to mee. Listen to 'Athaan Varuvaaga' from DumDumDum.
but IR has shown some promising signs in this album, thats for sure.. You must be Subbudu to pass on a remark like that. He is promising in each album (if you listen to his albums at all few times) like he said 'I am always giving good songs'.
Neels,
I am sure your comments are before listening to the album.

STS.... r u guys really serious..... to be frank, i never expected even one song to be good for a Satyaraj movie... if that is not the case, then its really good....
