Hi friends,
Rounded off my first day in TN after a long time by watching "En Mana Vaanil".Songs were excellent, as reviewed by most of you earlier in the thread. They should be running on most of our channels for days.
Wanted to keep an eye on the BGM and was not disappointed. Raja scores like only he can. Another fab job!
All in all, a vintage album. Definite must-hear.

Thanks for the link Yaaro.
For those who can't read network54, I'm posting the contents here. :)
Dear Friends in Music:
I've come to one conclusion after discovering more and more compositions just recently of songs that I had not heard at all, that every 2000 earth years the dimension of spiritual beings (GODS) assume some responsibility for the welfare of earth and sends an avatar to influence thought of mankind. 4000 years ago, it was Lord Krisna who gave us the most profound philosophical thoughts in the Bhagavad Gita, then 2000 years later, it was Jesus Christ who brought the missing virtues of compassion and humility and drive away babarianism. Now, it is Ilayaraaja, who has awakened in many of us with the the blissful power of music as a means to express myriad moods and complex feelings, as a means to reach out to people because of the overwhelming beauty of the compositions, that no composer or all composers combined ever could accomplish.
Permit me to express myself without restraint. But, the being that is the RagaDevan that we have working from Chennai is not a human - because in my experiences humans have not reached the ability to transcend so many limitations yet - but a spiritual being (GOD) from another dimension that we mortals will not be able to comprehend just right away! For the world to experience the bliss that is the IsaiGnani's creations, it has to be blessed with a higher awakening. Alas, so much time to go before that state of mind draws over the vast millions! And, I consider myself fortunate like other fans of the Maestro to have that enlightenement and experience a genuine timelessness when swept away by the ceaseless torrent of musical waves of the Great ONE!
(In the meantime, I am continuing my search for another 400 albums that I had totally missed out!!!)
Musicallyours,
Raaja_Bhakthar

Dear Raja Devotee,
I would like add some more points of flavour to yours. I heard from my friend who is closely associated with IR & his group. It was about 75 years back this news was published in in tamil news paper(If i am right it must be Swadesamithran) in south India. The news was from the Kanchi Periyavar(Maha Swami!) Who had revealed that there will be a a re-union of Athma from one of the 3 great carnatic composers(Thyagarajar, Muthuswmi Dhik****har & Shyama Sastri)who lived in earlier centuries. This birth & re-union of athma will happen from a place near Madurai in South of Tamil Nadu after some years. Then that child's gift of Music will enlighten the entire world with Music. Like this the papers news goes. Now coming to IR birth details & his present fame & great music gift which he has comparing IR with the earlier said news would prove that IR is the only person which was referred by the Kanchi Swami.I am happy to share this news with the IR fans like you. I too have got lot of bits of news about IR which i would reveal in person when we all meet elsewhere to talk about IR & his compositions.
Regards,
Murali

s0,
Forget Hindi and Gujju producers, when our own Tamil producers and directors believe it's sufficient to import faces & bodies from the North and leave the job of giving them 'life'(voice) to the underpaid kodambakkam dubbing artists, what can we do? We can only welcome such news as good news!
Almost all leading heroines know zilch of Tamil.
Ditto with the effeminate Kunal and Abbas (wonder why he's still a contender for a hero role; Vikram used to be a dubbing artist for Abbas when he was a struggling actor)
I remember in the 80's, most leading heroines had their voice dubbed by the same artists (Uma, Hemamalini etc.) and as a result, they all sounded the same! The only exception comes when a director feels his artist is a probable contender for the National awards.. recent case being Simran in Maniratnam's Kannathil MuthamittAl.

Making non sense comments like this about IR is utter r.....h. We don't need to blow our own drums here. We can't say anything about the person who wrote this. I think this one was posted in Rajaangam. I am a IR fan. I felt sick when I read this. IR never claims himself as a god. He is going to get his image damaged by some of his stupid fans. IR is IR. ARR is ARR. Please talk about your favarite only. Don't compare with other personalities or make him God. We can't say ,even DEVA is bad. Because Deva knows music better that us. So please If you want to attract more people to this TFM page leave these stories.

I picked up a tape recently titled, 'Revathy Krishnaavin Veena, Ilayaraja hits' in Eastham, London. Revathy's veena recital replaces voice and there is no information about the orchestration.
Are there any similar re-presentations (instrumentals) of IR's old gems?. This tape has a very good collection. Sendhura poove, en kanmani, senthazhampoovil, andhi mazhai, etc etc
