rf: I thought, it was sane enough to understand for somebody, that I was kidding. A joke doesn't becomes a joke, by adding #include "joke.h". :) again just kidding.
I really doubt, if AK had something to do with the movie.

I watched 'Kutti' on video yesterday. The video quality and hence sound was clear and good. In a word the movie was great. It was a sensible movie to the point and no artificial additions. About IR's BGM, awesome people. The whole BGM is ubiquitous and comes as a character in the movie, expressing what the little girl thinks/feel/perceive.
A notable piece (which I kept on rewinding and watching) was the piece, which comes when the little girl is taken to the shopping mall. It’s a 2/3-minute piece and from nowhere the amazing violins join and make it a "pull arichifying" piece. Don't miss the movie.......

Here's what Lajja's official site has to say:
The Background Score:
The experience of recording the background score of the film with the Budapest Radio Symphony Orchestra in Budapest (Hungary) would always remain with us a memorable one. The discipline of the ninety musicians, with the conductor and the recording engineers, was overwhelming.
Dr.Ilaiyaraaja, had worked so hard on the background music score of the film on paper, that not even a single minute was wasted in rehearsing. At the end of twenty four hours of recording of the background score & the chorus, stretching over five days, all the musicians gave a standing ovation to the music, which they have played, but was composed by an Indian maestro. According to them they has played one of the finest composed music for any film. Seeing the film, one easily identifies with the statement of the musicians of Budapest.
Also on the site:
"If music had to have a face, it would undoubtedly have all ears for the melodies of Ilaiyaraaja. This thespian's name has become synonymous with music. The music industry revers his talent and has rightfully bestowed him the status of an icon. Lajja's astounding background music which elevates its effect, is the result of Ilaiyaraaja's phenomenal talent."
More:
The aura attached to Lajja is akin to that of a grand epic ! And it thus demanded a background score that would do justice to its magnanimity. The illustrious illaiyaraja who has given background music for Lajja, was inspired to give it more than the best. He and Rajkumar Santoshi decided to record the background score in Budapest. Mr.La'szlo Kova'es was hired as conductor for the Budapest Symphony Orchestra. He came down to Madras to discuss the musical notes written by illaiyaraja. Ten days later we went to Budapest and recorded the background score with a 90 piece orchestra & 120 piece orchestra. The result is for all to see, hear, enjoy and also to get inspired.

okay..Re: Lajja..Okay I got the picture :) Now more URLs please. Somebody here seemed to have watched the movie. I have a question for that person. Does the BGM have WCM mixed with synth beats like in the movie preview ? This is a trend common in Hollywood movies..has IR done it this way in Lajja ?

MPR,
I also feel they are wrong about 'saasanam' (You can judge by the nadai of the writer - no details, So cover it-up with all praises - IR indiranaakkum, Chandiranaakkum etc., etc., :-)
But I remember reading that IR is going to do BGM for saasanam - on Mahendiran's request !

Hi guys,
just watched 'KUTTI'. Wow, wonderful work by the entire team. Story was the main attraction. It was brought to the greatest extent by our IR. Listen to BGM when the family visited a shopping mall. (Kutti carrying the baby and playing with dolls). And many more. I hardly believe this man can still deliver the greatest after 25 years. What more to say, long live IR!!!

NagaS, is that true ? cause i remember loooooongggg back reading an interview by Mahendran, where he had said something like IR's money demand was very huge, and hence he did not want IR for music for that movie.....

sabesan,
Thats the original reason they went for BalaBharathy as MD (Originally IR was the MD for the movie)., Then due to some problems with National Film Division (May be something to do with 'karuvelampoookkaL') and these money demand problems ... they booked BalaBaharathy.,
Later, looks like the BGM work he did was not satisfactory for the director, He was telling in an interview that he has asked IR to do BGM and he agreed.,

IsaiAdimai,
This is not the first time that movies have been made with intention to incorporate IR's music. This is an example of what music should actually mean, .i.e. to communicate the feelings without speaking a word.I surely look forward eagerly for this movie.

guys... What was the most recent movie of Vijaykanth for IR was MD. The story is based on factionism . The heroine is kasturi, dir: liyakhat ali khan. The thing is, it is being released in telugu and probably the title is different
Thanks

"Kungumam Manjalukku" - sung by KJY & SJ
Vijayakanth comes with a wig in that movie :-))), and this movie was produced by Panchu Arunachalam.

UVII,
Wasn't 'kukumam manchalukku' from 'Sakkarai Thevan'? That movie was around '95 and had other good songs like ' thanneer kudam kondu thaniyaaga poenen'.
After that Raja did 'tharma' with Vijayakanth. That movie had songs like 'iru kaNgal poethaathu' by SPB.
Don't ask me about the plots. I haven't watched a Vijayakanth movie since 'vaithehi kaathirunthaal'.
....later

and a tight white silk shirt with sleeves rolled up!:) remember this vividly b'cos i saw just the 'kungumam' song repeatedly on TV, and recall thinking that if the word 'moron' had to have a name and face it would well be VK. less said about LA Khan the better.. isn't he the same clown that directed VK's another super-bomb "Ezhai Jaadhi" and yet again mutilated the melodic "adho andha nathiyoram"..?

`adhO andha nadhiyOram'(SJ& chorus) is an excellent song from Ezhai jAthi, the probable last film for Vijayakanth by IR...
